Mike, If there's something, anything, in life you that are struggling with, I hope you Immediately find someone as helpful to you, as you are to us.
Easily my #1 instructional resource on the Interweb.
Cheers & thank you M8.
Thank you so much, its always my pleasure.
Another great tutorial Mike - it's pronounced 'rooting' in the UK :-)
So helpful thanks Mike
Thanks Mike!
My pleasure!
Cool, I've never used that built-in comp but it seems good enough to do such ducking easily.
Yrah, it's a good functional compressor.
Great vid as per Mike 👍🏼 Here in the UK routing is pronounced 'rooting'. Or the same way the Americans pronounce 'Route 66', more to the point 😜
Thanks much. Very helpful.
i come back to this video every time i try to sidechain lol
I can work with the setup. Your video made it more understandable and it makes a lot more sense now. Thank you
Very useful tip regardless of what DAW you are using. Great vid!!
Rooting, spelled routing. Yet another great video.
excellent as always Mike! EXTREMELY useful to me! Profuse thanks!
SI Drums: I sometimes use multiple tracks of SI Drums so that I can separate the kick, snare and Cymbals etc. It makes the SI much more flexible so that for example I can select a particular kick from kit and a snare from a another etc.. So now I have my drum track on three or four different channels I can do pretty much what Mike does with the MT Power kit..
I neede this tutorial right now. I have been trying to find the easiest way to side chain my bass and kick exactly for the purpose you have mentioned.
Thank you for being right on time.
The word is ''ru'ting.'' Why some American decided to miss-pronouce the word, one wonders. Especially as they have a famous song about a route. English is most probable the hardest language to comprehend, so I do not know why the Americans are changing the pronounciation of certain words.
If someone can explain, I might give them a rough amount of dough. However, I thought it through and decided that it might be tough to explain.
Cakewalk is great software always for me.
Thanks Mike
Great! Thanks for the information!
Thank you, Mike!
Good info and great lesson video Mike!
Great video as usual! 😎🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
Thanks for this mike
As usual, I have a question and you come out with a tutorial that answers it. Uncanny. Thanks for the info
It may be route or root but I definitely root for this video. Thanks Mike!
Nice work Mike!
Hi Mike, you forgot to remember the audiance to hit the like button, but I did it. ;) (3 times)
Great vid Mike. The whole side chaining and mid side stuff is a black art to me. Thanks for sharing. So you dont have to enable side chaining on the compressor plug in. I always thought pug ins had a side chain feature you had to enable.
Asked for permission to join the group ; )
After I did this (last 3 min) my drums sounded tunnel
Great stuff Mike, I actually understood some of it.......maybe in 10 years time.
As for route (ROOT) many Americans have altered it to ROWT but, to me, it should be Route pronounced ROOT. French word meaning roadway or pathway. Can you imagine singing "get my kicks on ROWT 66?" Yuck! Apparently, many Americans don't like the language called English so now, with the aid of a bit of alteration to many words, including spelling, they can call it American/English. I guess in another 20 years time it will just be the American language. Cheers for now.
Excellent tutorial as usual. Always learn so much from your videos. One question. There seems to be a sidechain option in the pro channel compressor, however even when I turn it to on it doesnt seem to show up in the sends when I try to use one. Do you have any tips on this topic? Maybe I forgot to enable it somewhere... thanks in advance.
Cool way of doing it with a loop. I thought you were going to pull out a fancy eq with sidechain compression.
Question. Is it not good to use an EQ to sidechain specific frequencies?
Hi Mike . Thx a lot for your great videos and outstanding contribution to the Cakewalk community.
Important question. IS IT POSSIBLE TO SETUP SIDECHAIN using EXTERNAL COMPRESSOR? if yes I think will be a great video!
Cheers and Thank you
Hello ^^
brilliant info man this channel is a God send. One question If I am using a backing track with just bass and drums and I add my guitar how do I get it to sound as if all are in same room instead of sounding like guitar tacked on to a BT?
Many thanks
Put a room reverb on all the tracks
Thanks for the video. Honestly, I didn’t like the final result. It took too much off of the bass. I don’t think that would work for bass heavy genres like funk or R&B. Take for example “Forget Me Nots” by Patrice Rushen. That song is built totally around the bass performance. You wouldn’t want to duck that bass groove. Is there a way for the kick and bass to coexist without reducing either performance?
For that kind of music, you could use the 808 bass as your kick
I never ordered this but is showing up on my card and shows nobody to contact
I think its pronounced "routing"
