1 Content with the Buc speed if they had some risk with less hp on hull or shields. 2 They are too tanky for the role of boom zoom. 3 Be the glass cannon trash can
Thanks for this breakdown. I do have a Bucc as a Vulture loaner. I almost never use it but I do kit it out with a full range of components... just in case. One thing I do like about it is that I can keep the Rhino on it. It's the only ship that really looks good with it and not like some over-sized child's toy. I tried the 3 Rhinos on my mk2 and hated the look. I often keep it and my Cutter at GrimHex as backup vehicles. 123

Solid and informative. I sincerely wish MM was decoupled from the patch cycle. It feels like we would benefit for more rapid iterations.

It is, the only issue is it would lose to double Buccaneer at the moment which is fine, some balancing should solve that
"...Preferably a target that is being engaged..." - Situational awareness is life.
"...you kind of want to be behind them..." - seeking to maximize your time on target. Conversely, if you are the one who finds yourself taking fire from you six the proper response is an immediate Immelmann/180 INTO the threat.
The Bucc needs a little adjustment (a slight weapons nerf, increasing its TTK, would be my choice.) Other ships need some adjustments as well. But what ALSO needs to change is player behaviors. As you note maximizing the Bucc means only engaging at the proper angles/geometry otherwise you are placing yourself at too much risk, as would engaging anyone who had an actual wingman.
The way we fight needs to change. The Live model has conditioned people into locking up on a single opponent for far too long. The peculiarities of that model let people skilled in the model often get away with that, but in MM I would liken that to going to ground in a street fight. Which might be fine if you are truly 1 v 1, but leaves you tremendously vulnerable if you are actually not.
I would also add that the 'gamey' aspects of MM in AC (repair and resupply sprites) are giving a misleading representation. e.g. Staying in sustained fights outside of AC means going with most or all energy based weaponry, substantially reducing DPS. Or, you can stay all or largely ballistic, and wreak terrible damage, but not for very long before you are combat ineffective.
I could definitely make an argument that the buccaneers boost regen could stand to be reduced, thereby making it far more important to conserve or properly ration its usage over relying on it too much for dog fighting.

I dont know if you already have but if not you should consider making a video about how NPC crew and AI blades could affect the future PvP content. I think it is discussed very rarely despite its huge consequences.

123 yooo. Dude I looked your combat videos with the breakdowns. @ver9jl what do you think about balancing the bucc/ hornet to have lower accel. rates with same top speed? To give good light fighter pilots a little extra time to potentially chase and kill for a few more seconds, plus putting more pressure on the bucc/ hornet pilots to maintain a higher speed all the time?
Just wondering what the large red arrows at 22:42 mean? Sometimes they are green as well. I see them pop up from time to time when I play but have never been able to work out exactly what they are trying to tell me.
It's a popular UI bug, they'll fix it soon enough. Just happens randomly

Would love your thoughts on the Avenger Warlock as another Interceptor option. I *think* it’s more maneuverable, but definitely doesn’t have as much firepower.
With the Warlock being an interceptor (if they keep it as one) I'm wondering how strong they may be with flying in and dropping their EMP.
I wouldn't be shocked if it isn't one, they care nothing about the marketing descriptions but I hope I'm wrong Shrap. I like the idea of EMP based ships without being forced into a specific EMP archetype

Has it been suggested that for balance, your boost has to refill all the way before NAV mode works? It could work that boost refills at some accelerated rate when actively switching to NAV, or not, but the point is that using boost in SCM should mean you're committing more to SCM mode and it should take longer to toggle to NAV.
All this good advice is wasted on a scrub like me. Very good overview. Can't wait to see this in 3.23 PU
Go practice in Master modes from time to time. Good practice with instant resets. Even if you fly a different ship in the PU. The PU will be a slower learning process imo. It’s fun even when the better pilots dominate.o7

123, Bucc is a beast in team fights, and I guess I'm bad because I lose to em in duels in my Gladius.
It’s such an easy fix. Reduce it to one shield and half the HP. Then it’s more like calvary. Great for chasing down ships down and 3rd partying, but vulnerable to confrontation.

on an unrelated note, you might want to lower your fov a bit. that might sound insane, but what pros in iracing and other racing sims do is get the fov, monitor size, and thie distance of their eyes from the monitor into a sweet spot that tricks our brains into calculating distances of objects by mirroring what you'd typically see in your sortof perspective reality. thats why some esports goblins play with such a close monitor is to maximise this effect. if that makes sense lol. this gives them the consistency they need to ride right up on curbs and beside walls over and over without crashing or for some other psychotic spatial awareness feats, even down to clicking on heads. idk i probably sound insane, and it is jut my opinion in the end, but the way i see it is you have aim assist in your brain turned off by warping the image so much in this b roll footage. i COULD also just be giga wrong and you're already doing it because im just making a somewhat safe assumption based off one of the three variables 🙈

Honestly, all i had to do when i tried it in squad was save some boost and shift-w when i got targetted. Not at all interesting or fun. Lots of kills though. Just shoot someone in th back.

I thought the s4 was way stronger than it is? Erkul says its only 20 damage alpha damage increase from a s3? that don't seem accurate for as fast as you can destroy ships in a hammer head in MM. i wonder if there is a simulated armor in the master modes making the size of gun matter on how much damage it does. IE s2 is weakened vs hammer head armor but s4 does max damage to all ships.
