I have a 722.3 that was contaminated by coolant due to a leak in the radiator. Now it will not upshift out of first gear. First and reverse are fine. Fluid has been flushed twice. Where do I look? Thanks
I had once a W203 with a transmission that got filled with coolant. ended up replacing the transmission. I think friction plates don't like coolant, it makes them soft and friction material disintegrates. Thats what I saw, friction plates without any friction material left. You probably will have to drop the transmission and rebuild, its not a very hard task if you are mechanically inclined .
yes AndyP. the transmission on you MB is 722.6 which is electronically controlled is the 6cl. why do advice. I have a problem with my w202 c180. should I replace it with a like for like tranny. thanks for the response .
I don't know why but I put liquid on both sides of the plate between body valves, you think that is nothing bad? I see that you join them with a dry plate. Bdw nice job and video, should find this video before i did my box

Hello Andy I have 1991 420 sel i had issue with revers ( only revers) forward everything just fine smooth, so i did fluid &filter change and ad some lucas but still no revers some time go in revers but the most of time not. please Advice

Im assuming you are asking about automatic transmissions... I dont think You can... These Transmissions are different, 722.4 (4 speed automatic) is a hydraulic transmission, theres no electronics involved. 722.6 (5 speed) is electronic, theres a tcm that manages shift points and also tcm communicates with ecu via canbus.
don't know... 722.9 is for a newer MB. usually the problem is with some speed sensors , it requires replacement of the conductor plate and some and coding using MB Start system
putting the the car on drive, reverse and during accelaratiing are very harsh. and there is a leak from the pump end i guess because each time i park the vehicle there is some drop of oil on the ground. when i am on traffic i could smell transmission oil fom the exhaust pipe from under.
this is a 4 speed transmission, there are no solenoids in this transmission, everything is hydraulically operated. You probably thinking of a newer 5-speed transmission, it's electronically operated and there are solenoids in it.
obviously because something is broken.... i don't have a crystal ball to see the problem, you need to provide more info, at least the year of the car, ot what transmission you have, few more symptoms...
to start check the vacuum line going to the modulator (i think its a green line), modulator is on the driver side of the transmission. Also check if you have vacuum leaks in the intake side of the engine. this transmission is very sensetive to vacuum loss. Connect a vacuum tester and see what's the intake vaccum at idle, should be close to 20" . if you don't find any vacuum leaks, you can adjust vacuum modulator for better shifting, search you tube for instructions

mostly cleaning , and i replaced the seals. the transmission is fine now

You mean you applied a coat of ARF on thw gasket ?

I think it should be ok, the luquid will be forced out when the plates get tight.
Just pay attention which side rhe paper gasket goes.
I made a mistake and it took me long time to figure it out.

My car only changes to 1st gear and reverse gear but when I change to the 2nd 3rd.and 4th the car doesn't work how can I fix this issue
sorry i missed your question, is it a 4 speed or 5 speed transmission, they have different controls
