On my gosh I about choked on my food laughing when Steven said, "chocolate chip key lime pie". Mandy, the look on your face was like "what planet are you living on?" Priceless!
In our home, we make New England Boiled Dinner, consisting of a corned beef brisket, carrots, potatoes, onions, parsnips, turnips, and Cabbage. I season it all with the spice packet that comes with the beef. I am from New England, but have moved to the glorious South. I am keeping that dinner tradition alive, though!
I do wear green....and I believe in genrously heaping out threats to my family if they do not. My pinchers cannot discriminate. My husband loves corned beef and cabbage. However, when the kids were small they werent big in traditional corned beef and cabbage with carrots and potatoes. So we made a tradition over finding recipes that use corned beef and cabbage in more creative ways. Our top favs over the years were corned beef and cabbage tacos, corned beef and cabbage egg rolls ans lastly a corned beef and cabbage pizza that used a garlic sauce in place of red sauce. Those were excellent. When they were small I also had a fun time preparing rainbow breakfasts and lunches. We would talk about how it isnt really about leprechauns and gold but forgiving those that persecute you and sharing the gospel. With the lost. I havent even thought about what im making this year. Because it kind of crept up on me. Maybe your stew.
Hi Mandy, we usually have a boiled dinner ( corn beef, cabbage, carrots and onions and potatoes) either slow cooked on the stove or crock pot . also Colcannon ( mashed potatoes and cabbage with onions, I add bacon) and of course Irish soda bread
I actually have a tattoo with green in it now to keep myself safe! When I was little my dad would wait for us to get up in the morning and if our nightgowns (yes, I'm old enough for nightgowns) didn't have green on them he would pinch us! So eventually I got myself a triquetra tattoo with green highlights so no matter what my dad can't pinch me! (He's 80 and still tries to get me!) :D Some of my favorite memories with my dad!
Now that's such a cute memory! Love it. Thanks for sharing, Carrie! Fun fact, if we had a girl she was going to be named Carrie Elizabeth. Both are grandmothers' names in our families.
@@MandyintheMakingI was named for Carrie in Little House on the Prairie. All my grandkids are named for book characters. My son is named for my grandfather. I love the origins of names!
ROFL!!!!!!! It's as if his brain connects green with lime and that's just that. Can't tell that brain it's mint when the power of key lime persuasion is happening in the mind.
Mandy ... in total I have 5 guys. My husband and our 4 sons. All about 2 years apart. Not many leftovers in our house. A typical dinner when they were younger teenagers was 6 chicken thighs, + 6 chicken legs + 5 lbs mashed potatoes + 2 lbs corn. We went through about 8 gallons of milk per week (and they weren't allowed to just arbitrarily drink milk - that was breakfast and dinner). They're all grown and out of the house. I can't tell you how hard it was to cook for only 2 people lol. We have now been blessed with 2 grandsons. Apparently, we can only produce boys. :) Love your channel/videos. I look forward to them every week. Keep up the good work. God bless you and your beautiful family.
Hi Mandy. Im irish and used to live in the US and I think you did a great job on the stew and the soda bread. I have a few tips. Its more traditional to used a fluffy style potato in the stew. Cut them really big, and the outsides disintegrate a bit, making the stew thicker, but keeping the insides from over cooking. I usually make the soda bread from wholewheat flour, but all purpose flour is fine too.The cross should be cut from side to side halfway down into the bread. I think its to speed up the cooking, especially with wholewheat. But it also makes it easy to tear the bread into 4 chunks which is very traditional. Also I never baste while its cooking, as i dont think its neccessary. You can add nearly anything to soda bread to flavour it...savoury (cheese, leeks and herbs) or sweet (dried fruit). Caraway seeds are also a nice touch in the bread. Happy St Paddy's Day.
Iris showed a bread usually has a sweet fruit and I always made it with raisins and the cross on top is for saint Patty's day because he is a saint and it's supposed to be a religious legislative it's supposed to consist of praying and being contemplative the states however has turned it into a reason to drink green beer. It's a cross on top not an x And I love it with caraway seats inside
Y'all are a hoot! Absolutely crack me up. The only thing I would leave out of the stew is the mushrooms. I'm proud of you, Mandy! That bread looked amazing! Thanks for sharing.
The best piece of advice I ever got from my sister-in-law during the first dinner I made for my then soon-to-be husband: “never underestimate how much an Everett man can eat.” After 18 years and now being empty nesters, I still cant cook for just 2!
Steven: "Y'all that's the biggest biscuit I've seen in my whole life!" 🤣 Too funny! The food looked yummy and the entry tree area looks nice! So neat the seat was part of your desk.
My mom put Meringue on most of her pies. Yes, it's made with whipped egg whites and sugar. After cooking it was so fluffy and lite and it created some golden drops on it, not sure if it was the sugar or not. My dad famously called Meringue "calf slobers". We have called it that our whole life.
Yes I wear green even at 72, it’s fun. To get the dough off your fingers use flour and rub your hands together and it comes off. A trick from our friend Brenda Gantt.
I watch your recipes everyday. The best part is Stephen and your reactions. I lived with my six sons and husband for20 years and we never had leftovers. I cooked a gallon of food everyday. I wish I had UA-cam then for good big pot recipes.
Yes I wear a green item. Our favorite is a slow cooker corened beef which we cook over night with minimal liquid because it releases it own juice also add potatoes too. We skim the broth the next day and cook the cabbage in the broth. Then we make a cornbread with a bit of shredded pepper jack cheese in it.
Hahahahaha Steven is sooo funny. My husband is called Patrick, his family are Irish, so of course we celebrate St. Patricks day, we don't necessarily cook anything different but we do make poundies (mashed potato with sliced green onions in). My son with his wife and my grandson are heading to New York this weekend for the St. Patricks Day Parade. My grandson just turned 18, he's disabled and thats what he wanted to do for his birthday. So I'm (with Patrick) going over to their house to spend it with their other 3 children. He's so excited. Happy St. Patricks day when it comes. Thanks for sharing the wonderful recipes xxx
Hi Mandy! And family 😊! You put the x on top for 2 reasons . 1. Steam builds inside of the bread as it is baking. So it will sometimes cause your bread to have a "blow out" if you don't make a way for the steam to escape. Reason 2 and the old fashioned reason is to get the devil out. In this case you make a cross on your loaf on top!
For St. Paddy's day, we always get together and eat coddle, corned beef with cabbage and then watch Boondock Saints. My wife and I love your channel, thanks!
I am Irish and we always made Irish Soda Bread! We made a Cross on the top because Saint Patrick's Day always falls during Lent and we are thinking of Jesus in the desert - during the 40 days :) You did an amazing job! We always add caraway seeds like my Irish Nanny did! Love you Mandy!
First, renovation looks like it came from a magazine! Second, Stevens reaction to your dessert shows how that ‘eat with your eyes’ works. He saw chocolate chip key lime pie and his taste buds said ‘Yes!’ Your reaction was priceless. So enjoy you and your family! Be blessed.
I always wear green on St. Patrick's 2:24 Day. I make corned beef with cabbage, carrots, corn and potatoes. It's my version of an Irish style Southern boil 😊
Hi, Miss Mandy. My grandma was full blooded Irish and I have her green eyes so I say I’m safe year round. I love your family’s dynamics and all your recipes. Love, love, love little Miss Gracie can’t wait to see and hear Meow for her treat every video. Blessings to you and your family🙏🥰
Love watching a comedy/cooking show and that is what I classify your channel as especially when Steven is with you. He is so funny and you guys are great together
All that worry for nothing.... about baking from scratch! You did a great job. Looked amazing after it was done. Enjoy watching you so much and love the interaction from Steven & Cole. God bless you all.
For St Patricks Day we have Corn beef with a white Irish Whiskey sauce cabbage and beer mashed potatoes. The potatoes are the red potatoes and they are left a bit chunky and some of the peel let.
When Stephen said that is the biggest biscuit I ever seen, I almost peed my pants....I laughed so hard with the antics throughout the rest of the video! Great video!
Quite an entertaining video. You two at your finest. I'm an old lady but yes, when I was in school and you didn't wear green you were certainly going to be pinched. I have made for St. Patrick's Day an Irish chicken stew, colcannon and Irish soda bread. That was several years back when my health was better. It was so very good. May the luck of the Irish shine on you!!!!
Hi Mandy, our tradition is Corned Beef with cabbage and carrots slow cooked in slow cooker all day😊😊😊 sooo yummy but then make Ruben sand. with leftovers. Thanks to you, Steven and Cole for all great videos, really enjoy them all. Hope all is good with you all. Take Care😊(hugs to miss Gracie Lou😺)
@@maricelisfigueroa856 Hi@Marice, Using spice pack that comes with corned beef, and 2 cloves of garlic minced, rub mix on top of corned beef. Add in 1Tbs. of vinegar with 1cup of water, 1 Bay Leaf(pour liquid to side of crockpot to not remove any of spice mix on top of meat) cook on Low 8-10 hrs(when poke meat with fork should be tender, fall apart)An option, remove corned beef carefully then place in oven on Broil(to form a crispy top, usually 5-8min). That dessert the colors reminds me of pistachio pudding cake our family loves it on holidays. It's just angel food cake, pistachio pudding and whipped cream..so good 😋
My husband is Irish/American. Yes indeed. I am American. I am a huge fan of Guinness Irish Stew. They serve it in the pubs exactly as you made it. All Irish food is delicious and wholesome. Try Cabbage and Potato dish called Colcannon. Absolutely a family favorite. You and Steven are too funny. Priceless.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you and the family . We basically have the corn beef cabbage red potatoes and carrots . And of coarse the Irish soda bread . My kids & hubby are part Irish. I’m all German
I try and wear green throughout all of March, and I make St. Patricks Day soup which is ham or bacon with cabbage and carrots and onions in chicken broth with seasonings. It is delicious.
I live with one that hates left overs! No problems.. I eat them for breakfast! He hates left overs! That is why I love watching you two! God Bless you two! Wished I had a hubby like yours! LOL!
I , of course. wear green. After all my grandmother's maiden name was O'Kelley. we have the traditional corned beef and cabbage with Colcannon with Irish sipping whiskey
Yes, I live with 2 guys also. I only have leftovers if I plan to have them by making extra. LOL I still wear green on St Patrick's day, yes, I'm Irish. Chocolate chip key lime pie😂😅
My husband and I love corned beef, but it is expensive. So our St. Patrick's Day tradition is waiting to go to the store a day or two after the holiday and buying the clearanced corned beef to put in the freezer. I put it in my crockpot with water for 8 to 10 hours, serve it with mashed potatoes.
Mandy....I love all of your recipes and truly enjoy watching you and your family's side-comments during the videos! Thanks so much for sharing with us!! ♥
😂😂 omgosh you guys are so cute! Yes, green is a must 😂 Growing up my mom had a few different recipes she would make. Corned beef and cabbage, Irish Stew, or bangers. I have added a Guinness chocolate cake 😋 I have 2 boys in my house so I double all the recipes. We are a big leftovers family so that's mostly why I double. But it does help with lunch the next day or dinner!! The chocolate chip, keylime pie turned out great😂😂 Ya'll have a blessed day❤
Thank you Mandy. I love watching you and your family. I enjoy all of the recipes. But most of all I love that your family has a clean ,family oriented site. I have literally been having company for supper, at last minute and pulled up your videos to get ideas. Thank you! I have a built-in cookbook 😊. If we lived closer, I am making bread today (which i do every Wed), i would invite You over for a bread making session. Bless You and Your family 😇.
OMG, I laughed out loud when Steven saw the soda bread and said it was the biggest biscuit he had ever seen. 🤣 I absolutely love watching. Fantastic content and loads of laughs.
I used to live with hubby and 3 sons! NO very rarely would we had no leftovers until I started cooking more. I’m always amazed that the amount you cook for a meal fills the guys.
Chocolate chip, Keylime pie? Must’ve been the Guiness. I truly love watching your family dynamics. I live in Michigan, but our family roots are South Carolina, and y’all remind me of my relatives ❤. Thank you for being a blessing to us with every video. Oh, and Gracie Lou is so beautiful, she deserves all the cheese she can get😊

❤😊 Hi Mandy I am Irish too and yes I remember those days in school if you didn't wear green you would definitely get pinched lol as for recipes not really sure but that's ok because I absolutely love watching you all 😊 have a Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all ,much love to you all and Gracie Lou too.
I’m glad the soda bread turned out good for you. That was a lot more complicated than I make it. The recipe I got from my grandma is flour, baking soda, salt, and buttermilk. Mix the dry ingredients together then incorporate the buttermilk. I do sometimes mix an egg in or give it an egg wash and sprinkle the top with salt. The X is to help it expand when it rises from the reaction between the buttermilk and baking soda
Since St Patrick's Day always is pretty cool weather, the stew has been my go to meal, and the soda bread. Mandy, your recipes have been amazing, and I always share your videos with friends and family. The recipes I've tried have always been good, and shared with another couple since I live alone. Your family just blesses my heart, and I love Miss Gracie Lou. Thank you for sharing so much
St Patrick's Day is our family's favorite holiday dinner by far! We have corned beef, cabbage, oven roasted carrots, mashed potatoes and soda bread. Baileys cheesecake and Irish coffee for dessert! 💚🌈💰🍀
Hi Mandy I'm from Scotland when my family and I cook a pie or a stew we always use Guiness or a brown ale. It's so delicious! When I saw that stew you were making it was making my mouth water. 😂 I have 4 guys in my house, and you're absolutely right about the leftovers. It's kinda more along the lines or what leftover??😂 Even if I put something in the fridge for myself and go to get it later 9 times out of 10 it's gone. You've either got to eat it that day or stash it somewhere. 😂 Your bench/hook stand addition looks really lovely especially with the dark wood. 😊
Corn beef and cabbage! Also my Aunt from Ireland said to plant a potato on St. Patrick’s day for good luck! I always do these things! Love you and Steve together !
We wear green AND eat corned beef and cabbage 💚 ☘️ although I heard beef or lamb stews are more common in Ireland…my fiancé is Irish he picks the food that day 😂
My grandpa was 100% Irish and my other grandpa was half so we always try to make something traditional. I think we should try your beef stew this year!💚🤍🧡☘️🍀
Everything looks delicious! Mandy I know exactly how you feel, its me and my husband and adult son here and if theres any leftovers its seldom to none. I feel like I cook enough to feed an army and I tell them we have enough for dinner the next day, and when I turn around its all gone! Lol! No break for moms with hungry men in the house! Happy St Patrick's day! 💚
Great video! I am laughing soooo hard at Steven talking about "key lime pie" 😂 And your reaction to him was the best! We made Irish beef stew last year with a recipe very similar to the one you made here. It was delicious! 💚Gotta try the soda bread now!

Well we always used to have green pancakes for breakfast ( my son and grandson’s birthdays) and yes we always wear green
Steven saw the green and thought key lime lol looks delicious
I live with one that hates left overs! No problems.. I eat them for breakfast! He hates left overs! That is why I love watching you two! God Bless you two! Wished I had a hubby like yours! LOL!
I , of course. wear green. After all my grandmother's maiden name was O'Kelley. we have the traditional corned beef and cabbage with Colcannon with Irish sipping whiskey
Yes, I live with 2 guys also. I only have leftovers if I plan to have them by making extra. LOL
I still wear green on St Patrick's day, yes, I'm Irish.
Chocolate chip key lime pie😂😅
I loved the Paddy's Day glasses! Too cute. I also like it when you surprise yourself and things turn out great. Have a good night. 💚😆
Thank you! You too!

Yes, I wear green.
Corned beef and cabbage and Irish soda bread.
I still wear green. I miss the shamrock shakes from McDonalds from years ago. ☘️. Love me some Guinness too! Slainte’
They don't have the shamrock shakes anymore? Whaaaat? Those were some good key lime shakes if you ask me. LOL
Always wear green. My b-day is on the 3/18, so I start celebrating on St. Patrick’s day. We usually make corned beef brisket with sweet mustard sauce.
Happy birthday!! (a little early, but still ❤)
Yes, I still wear green on St. Patrick's Day. We used to eat corn beef and cabbage, but I can't eat either now. Darn Crohn's disease.
Corned beef**
I lost it when you said about the carrots “bless their little hearts”! Another fantastic video!!
LOL
Yes I wear green lol. Corned beef and cabbage every year😊
Yes I wear green I love Ruben, corn beef cabbage
"That's the biggest biscuit I've seen in my whole life." Stephen. 😂😂😂😂
ROFL right?! He cracks me the heck UP and then Mandy's reaction just brings me to TEARS.

Being abit Irish from my mom...yepper green here. Corn beef & cabbage...the different tastes each year👩🍳👩🦼🐈🐈⬛🌳🌴👘🥿📿from southeast Georgia
Mandy baked! I love to bake. If you have a good recipe you can make pretty much anything. That stew looked delicious!
I wear green, of course. Don’t want to get pinched. I always make corned beef and cabbage.
You guys are the cutest!! My absolute favorite YT super couple! 🩷 I was laughing so hard tears were flowing down when he was describing the dessert.😂😂
You are so sweet! Thank you! Glad we could brighten your day!

Wow, we are expecting snow here in Loveland Colorado. Beer is a wonderful tenderizer. I am definitely making the stew and Soda Bread (biscuit).
Your new space for coats/etc, looks Pinterest worthy for sure!
Thank you for sharing so much
Thank you, Kym. You are so kind to share our videos. That's the highest compliment!
St Patrick's Day is our family's favorite holiday dinner by far! We have corned beef, cabbage, oven roasted carrots, mashed potatoes and soda bread. Baileys cheesecake and Irish coffee for dessert! 💚🌈💰🍀
Mandy I love your baking experience,🤪😂😂😂
Attempting is good..soda bread looked great. Love the hall tree❤😊 love you guys..
That pie bit was just up there best moments ever that's like three pies in one
We wear green AND eat corned beef and cabbage 💚 ☘️ although I heard beef or lamb stews are more common in Ireland…my fiancé is Irish he picks the food that day 😂
And it has some sort of citrus in it doesn’t it while Mandy is losing it. . .this has to be your cutest video yet! Love y’all!
