  • Do you have a picky eater(s) in your household? If so, I hope this video will give you at least ONE new recipe to try that they will approve of. Let me know in the comments what your picky eater doesn't like - give me the list! :) Sometimes the list of what they actually DO like is shorter, so you can give me that one. LOL

My beloved husband does not do vegetables except potatoes and corn. He also eats nothing that lives in the water. I grew up spending my summers on Cape Cod and my dad was an avid fisherman and we ate every kind of vegetable there is. After 30 years together, we have compromised to some extent - I refuse to cook without onions and mushrooms and even though he still complains about them, he has accepted that he can just pick them out if he wants. There are so very many delicious recipes that I cannot make because of his aversion to produce, but I give him fresh fruit of some kind everyday because he does enjoy eating that and I want him to get some kind of roughage in his diet. It gets frustrating sometimes, but each to his own. It’s a small price for being blessed to be able to share my life with a wonderful man, even though he’s a picky eater!

I have an adult son who eats the exact samething for vegetables. Won't eat tomatoes, but will eat pizza sauce on his pizzas. It all depends on texture, no onions or garlic, so I use onion & garlic powder.

"My beloved husband does not do vegetables except potatoes and corn. He also eats nothing that lives in the water." That's mine too. He will eat salad and "might" force a green bean. Notice I said A green bean. He could live on fast food hamburgers, chick-fil-a, and Domino's, with Taco Bell being his favorite. Oh, we love em don't we!

My husband is a pain in the rear. He refuses cream cheese in meals but get this, I use it and he doesnt know and ABSOLUTELY LOVES the meals its in. Examples....John Wayne casserole, parmeasan chicken.pasta, baked spaghetti, and plenty more....says hes allergic to onions, hes not. I use onions real small cut in almost everything, onion powder, chives, again he doesnt get sick and loves it. He hates mac and cheese.....

You sound like my mom and I! My dad says he doesn’t eat cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, Ranch, etc because it’s “rotten milk”. My mom and I both would sneak it into things when I lived at home/holiday cooking together and we used to sit back and 😉.

My dad will eat most anything, but he's 90 and tries to compare EVERYTHING to something he had in 1940 or so. So most things simply don't evoke the exact "taste memory " he wants, so he grumbles. Now, someone tell me how to get around that. Ugh!

I have 3 kids, one doesn't like many veggies, one doesn't like meat, the third thankfully eats anything, but my husband doesn't do carbs! I've found that making "build your own" type dinners are lifesavers. Tacos, chili bowls, pasta with different sauce and veggie/meat topping options, let everyone make a plate that they will enjoy :)

Had to comment on this ... I was born in Memphis, TN to parents raised in Mississippi on farms. I grew up eating soul food and all organic (home grown) produce & fruit, grass fed organic meats and wild game that was hunted and fished. My husband was born in Mexico and prefers the authentic Mexican food he was raised on (no Tex-Mex with all the cheese). He does not even like cornbread dressing at Thanksgiving as they don't have Thanksgiving in Mexico so Turkey was his Christmas meal celebrated on the 24th not the 25th. I could eat seafood every single day (I lived in FL) but he is not a seafood fan as his hometown is not near the ocean so he didn't grow up eating it. I could go on and on but will just say at this point we hardly ever eat the same thing. I cook and he cooks and we rarely go out for dinner. Love from our 5 cats to Gracie.

Put the Fritos on the top. Use some guacamole instead of avocado, if not ripe. I usually put rice in the bowl first, then everything Mandy used. But as I said I put the Fritos on top, then they are crispy.

Im so grateful. My children were not picky eaters. To this day, they eat very well. I couldn't imagine cooking various meals for picky eaters.
This next comment may strike a nerve, but i came from a big family. My mother didn't have time to make different foods to picky eaters. You ate what she made, or you excused yourself from the table. And no, you ate nothing for the night. Not even peanut butter sandwiches.
House Rules. It didn't kill me. What it taught me was to be grateful to have food to eat.

I have an extremely picky eater in my house! He’s severely autistic and has his handful of things that he will eat. Some of the things you did look similar tho so maybe with a little tweaking I can get him to try some new things. Basically I get around it by calling pickles and ketchup a vegetable in my house 😂😂😂and he loves all fruit so I know he’s getting something healthy! I love watching yall! Been watching religiously for about 3 years now and your recipes have helped be able to learn to cook!!! My family watches too and is so very thankful to yall for the better dinners than what they used to get!!!😂

My stepson is 21 and autistic. He isn't picky at all unless his dad says he doesn't like something, then he won't touch it. Like greens. I can't get either one of them to eat anything with spinach or greens unless I hide it in the food and don't tell them. Otherwise I hardly ever have leftovers. Maybe you could try that.

There are certain autistic medications that mess with the appetite. They may be hungry at different times then you. My nephew sits with us at dinner, if he doesn't eat, it is left for later. He usually will graze later, he won't ignore the hunger pangs. He does very well with heavy protein in the evening.

We experienced homelessness. & I told the kids you can eat it hot and fresh today or cold and stale tomorrow. Now I understand some people just don't like certain things ( I don't like oysters sardines) my sister has picky kids I'm glad I didn't.

I had a theory, totally unproven of course, when pregnant, I ate things like peas, broccoli & carrots (etc + lots of stuff) so she would have the tastebuds someday to receive it. I was a single Mom so every Thurs was Family Nite, where I would make dinner & we ate by candlelight & symphony music in the background, then as she was tiny I would get on my hands & knees too & make pretend I was a lion chasing her. So many great memories. Maybe it helped bc she loves more foods than I do today as an adult woman, like .... sushi. 🤮🤣
Praise God u got thru homelessness - I understand poverty well, not receiving child support, handling life alone, etc. It's just inches away many times. Thank u for sharing ur story, it's an important one to tell. I bet ur an awesome Mom! ❤️

As an empty nester I am new to the picky eaters club. Our children have been grown and gone for a decade and a half. Health issues have recently limited my husband's ability to tolerate certain foods. He cannot (or does not want) onions, tomatoes, cheese, a lot of spice, cholesterol......the list goes on and on. I am feeling the frustration. Let's just say I truly look forward to my frequent luncheons and dinners with my girl friends.

Onions, tomatoes and peppers are the biggest offender in my house for my picky eater. Most recipes I use onion powder or dried onion flakes in place of the onion that is called for. It's the texture she doesn't like. Then veggies are a hard one -- she likes about 3 veggies. lol!! I try to stay away from all-in-one meals like casseroles or one pot that include the veggies she doesn't like -- or keep them separate so we can enjoy.

That was a great question to ask us. My mom moved in with me after my dad passed away and I do all the cooking for her, so I had to beef up my cooking skills for her, which is why I come to these recipe videos. She is so picky when it comes to seasonings. She is a very bland eater, so I have to sneak things in and not tell her and she'll end up enjoying the meal. She hates anything spicy, but I have used creole seasoning in a few dishes and she never said a word. I have to pick and choose your recipes, knowing whether she would like it or not. I like them all! Thanks for sharing these recipes with us!

That Boursin Chicken is a HUGE favorite in our house! And yes, it is excellent on pork chops! As for what else you can use Boursin cheese on, I use it with penne pasta with broccoli and I even use it as a ricotta substitute in lasagna! Try the Boursin fig and balsamic cheese on pork…delicious! The Boursin caramelized onion is really good on beef and the Boursin basil and chive is great on pasta.

Oh my goodness. Husband is rare meat with the blood running. Kids are like cook that meat until there's no blood. One kid only likes beans in his chili, the other does not like chili and the hubby wants it not soupy but full of meat.
Me, I could just eat veggies all the time. Now, kids are grown and we still all struggle to sit down together and eat the same thing. When I was growing up if you didn't eat what was put I. Front of you, you went to bed hungry. Thank goodness I liked all my moms cooking except fried chicken liver and English peas --- just the smell of that would have me gagging. Love y'all.

Mandy, I appreciate so much that you try to satisfy the "picky eaters" in the world. But 'my' picky-eater is picky based on his "mood"! He loves to eat a lot of different foods but he is often not in "the mood" for a particular dish. This makes meal planning a nightmare! Many couples will argue about children, money, family issues. My husband and I have had our worst arguments over food! LOL He has pretty much always been a meat-n-taters guy, but I like variety. Luckily for me, your recipes have satisfied BOTH our preferences on more than one occassion. THANK YOU SO MUCH for your videos! They keep us all happily fed!

He’s not a fan of soups or stews I love them. He hates coconut and yep I love it. He’s allergic to mushrooms I love them. I’m allergic to fresh strawberries but if they have been processed in anyway I can eat them. Weird. We’re pretty much total opposites but we don’t argue or fight and we’ve been together for almost 30 years. Neither one of us can eat spicy food so I make your recipes for us wimps lol. My Husband is the picky eater. He's a meat and potatoes kind of guy and I'm not. I have some food sensitivities and stomach issues in general. I have to be careful with what I eat. He would not eat the same things as me so I'm usually cooking two different meals at night, it's a pain. I do sneak in gluten free pasta and ground chicken instead of beef on occasion, and he doesn't seem to notice. Love your videos Mandy.

Same here. I started my son very young with eating a variety of things. Also, to eat what is made.
He eats everything except mushrooms. He tried them raw, cooked, fresh, canned, etc and just doesn't like them. He gave them a good try, so I accept that.
This is how I was raised and my siblings and I eat everything. 🤷🏻‍♀️ You just have to be a parent and give discipline and rules.

I'll eat practically anything but liver & onions, anchovies, snails.....
He won't do any meat on the bone ( bad under cooked meat experience), asparagus, mushrooms, organ meats, and most seafood except fish. It ends up being a lot of repeats, noodles and sauce, meat and rice, tacos, pizza, and burgers. If I want a specialty item, it's usually on my lunch from work.

My hubby is the picky eater in the family. He doesn’t like a lot of spices in his prepared food. Definite no to crockpot meals. He is happy with steak and potatoes, hamburgers and fries. He does like my enchiladas. Pretty much it’s a hit or miss with him. Thank God for my stepson! He eats 99.9 percent of what I put in front of him! I am DEFINITELY trying these recipes keeping my fingers crossed he’ll like them. ( hubby does love the French onion chicken I learned from this channel!)

OH Mandy, you are blessed. I have two autistic sons and at the time the husband was also odd on what he would eat. I usually cooked three meals every night. One for the older son and husband, one for the youngest and one for me( if i had enough energy). (I was usually on a diet). The first two would eat hamburger helper every night. No onions, mushrooms or other veggies, The youngest would eat macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets and baloney (not at the same time.) I like veggies and light food like salad. So it was culinary chaos. We all lived and survived. The boys are grown and on their own. I have a new husband who is almost perfect and not picky about his food. I really enjoy watching Steven's faces when he tastes the food. Also sweet Gracie is so darling. Keep up the good work. That Boursin cheese is awesome. Try it in mashed potatoes.

Hi, It's me, I am the picky eater in the family and also the cook, the wife and the mom who pushes her kids to eat the healthy versions! I don't like raw or cooked veggies in my meals and if I use onions they have to be super finely chopped so they basically disappear. But I will make me a separate dish so everyone else can enjoy the true recipe and flavors, it's not fair for them to suffer because I am the weirdo lol. However, depending on the meal, I will eat spinach or kale in some dishes, like Zuppa Toscana, yes please and thank you all day long! I love watching your videos and feel like you are my neighbor sometimes as I live in Rabun County, Georgia! Have you ever been here? xoxo, Jessica

I'm blessed to have no picky eaters. We're willing to try new things all the time. That might be why our spice collection has developed a life of it's own. BTW, we tried a baked potato in the air fryer yesterday. 40 minutes and done! It was perfect. It will now be how we cook them. So much faster and as you said the texture was perfect.

First, I like to try new recipes. Hence the reasson I love your channel! ❤ My son has one of two comments on anything I make - it's either, "It's okay" (which means he likes it) or, "Never make this again". I've gotten the latter on one or two of your recipes which I loved, but he didn't! His favorite protein is chicken and he would eat that all the time. Although I try to cater to his tastes, I can't eat chicken all the time so, I try to change things up and that does not always meet with his approval. Needless to say, he likes what he likes and anything else, he doesn't. Just so you know, he's given an "It's okay" to a few of your chicken recipes I've tried.

To be honest, I probably wouldn't make a lot of your recipes, but I definitely enjoy watching you all enjoy your meals! I love seeing Laura Lynn products!

I thought since he liked it from the can I would make the patty's, he said he would not eat them. I thought he was kidding. Nope. He liked hb helper though. Most of what I made he would eat. When my husband was a child, he had a sensitive stomach, so he was raised on a very basic/bland diet. When I met him, he ate chocolate, things that could be cooked in a Fry Daddy or microwave, and washed it all down with Mtn Dew. I made him try new things and he enjoyed my cooking. Now, he's soda free, and as his taste buds changed from his chemo treatments, he survives on cereal, fruit, granola and yogurt, or bologna sandwich with an occasional home cooked meal thrown in. He can't do anything too spicy or too seasoned any more. He does enjoy some of the "Mandy recipes" I've tried, so that's a good thing. :)

I don't like onions, but will eat onion rings. I don't cook with onions, but will use onion salt. I don't like beets, corned beef hash, eggplant, and green peppers. I'm a very picky eater. Hey Mandy, my darling Mom put everything in front of us as kids and even tried complicated dishes like Beef Wellington and we loved it. Later in life, I've developed a difficult heart condition and kidney issues that lead to Gout flares, so I eat a "low purine" diet. U probably have to look it up, bc some unpredictable foods are high purines like beets, brussel sprouts, asparagus & oatmeal. On the surface they are good for u, but if u ever had Uric Acid Crystals inbedded in ur joints u would say goodbye to those cause-foods in a nano second. I miss them, but not enough to endure losing the whole function of my right arm or leg! I've made peace with the condition & drink Cranberry Juice in water from Trader Joe's everyday now, along with Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar in water. The recipe is 16oz Water + 2-3Tbsp CJ + a sweetener (bc the TJs brand is straight cranberry & slap u across ur face tart), the Recipe for Apple Cider is similar only 16oz Water + 1-2 Tbsp ACV + Sweetener. Be sure to drink each with a straw on a FULL STOMACH bc the acid can eat at tooth enamel & become caustic in ur stomach. Within 48 hours a flare's pain will go down with those 2 drinks. Its been my lifesaver from pain.
I love ur conscientious cooking, u are good about balance with all things, but this is what I have to watch personally. Thanks for these yummy recipes today! Love u guys! 👵🏠🌻🦋🍽💕💕💕

The range of normal for women is 6 & for men is 7, so higher than that score (& I don't know what the numbers refer to) then u need to start taking Allopurinol slowly like 100mg, then 200mg, then 300mg. If it's super high, apparently Dr's can order an Infusion treatment to get it lower. I've had several family members who went to their Graves never hearing about that drug. Makes me furious & sad too.

@@EmilyGOODEN0UGH Did u know theres actually an Rx that treats Uric Acid called Allopurinol? I went years without even knowing it existed. I have several relatives who went to their Graves without being prescribed it. I have no idea why so many Dr's fail to prescribe it, while a person's joints all get frozen up. The first dose starts at 100mg, then recheck blood in 1 month, if it's not in the range (women need to be at 6 and men at 7) then they up it to 200mg, then in 1 month another blood test for Uric Acid & if still out of range 300mg is prescribed. If it's super bad/high, there's even an Infusion that can be done to lower it in an emergency. I hope u or whoever u know gets this Rx help. Tell them to be ultra careful NOT to take Advil or Aleve bc those 2 drugs are metabolized in the kidneys. A blast of 2/500mg Tylenol works pretty well, & Tylenol is metabolized in the liver. Ur loved one may have Kidney issues that need addressing, bc catching them early is key to avoid huge & costly interventions. Dialysis costs $30,000 for 3 treatments & it's done 3x a week, so do the math. Diet & food is not that special - I'd say goodbye to anything to avoid that cost!
