    I think Olivia is absolutely right, the raw version have the better texture and it does tastes way better! Glad you guys liked it! My white daughter in law, who is also named Olivia, likes larb but cooked version though. Her favorite Lao food are sticky rice with dried beef and Lao sausages.

    You both are very brave eating Lao raw beef larb and I give you two thumbs up Mario and Olivia. 5 stars for your show.
    Good job guys. Lao raw beef larb just like raw Beef tartare or Beef Carpaccio from Europe. For me, the best way to eat Lao larb is have it made with medium cooked beef. If you already made and mixed Lao larb with raw beef then cook it after, you lose all the good larb taste.

    Actually, Larb has so many versions, you can use pork meet, chickens meat, ducks meat and birds too, the raw version would be lean beef meat only. Other than that larb with be completely cooked well done. Raw Larbs are famous among men, they would be getting together and drink beer, alcohol Visky more like on happy hours in occasionally but most of Lao women prefer eating well done cooked chicken, pork & duck & beef larb also & soup is more like a side dish of any kind of larb, I am Lao who has been living in USA & I never eat raw Larb I prefer fully cooked. P.S. Raw Larb is prepared with beef only. No porks, chickens or ducks would be cooked raw period.

    Raw Larb is the same as eating rare steak. The soup contain the cow bio gastor. You should try the Korean version where the bio is not even filter the grass is still there. I like the Laos version because they cook the bio separate and filter the bio gastor like 3 or 4 times, Korean probably none. I know because I had the Korean version .

    Remember if it’s really spicy, don’t drink as that just spreads the capsaicin around your mouth. Bite into a lime - the acid will help neutralise it.
    I couldn’t believe this was your first time to try laap!😲🤦‍♀️ The fish and pork varieties of this are my favourites - I am less keen on the beef version. Some restaurants around town also do a version with tofu and that works really well.

      @TravelsonToast  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! We were able to extend our tourist visa every month because of the pandemic since the country was not open. I think it's still possible to do this now, unless they will change it soon. The wifi is generally good, unless you go to places like Don Det or somewhere more remote. For Sim cards we used Unitel, I think it's the best one available but joining facebook groups like Vientiane social is a good way to find more info on these things!

    Guys, the beef stomach is not raw.... only the meat. And it’s not technically even stomach. It’s a lining of the stomach called “tripe” and it’s prepared by boiling it thoroughly to soften with herbs such as lemon grass and galangal. If that lining was raw, it would not be edible. It would be too tough to chew.
