I got this guys course "The Efficient Guitarist", I really like how he lays things out in his teaching methods, MUCH better than many others I tried! Bravo!
You're an excellent player and communicator with a pleasant manner that engages people and makes them want to learn. Your progression here reminds me of that old Johnny Smith song, "Walk, Don't Run." For that I start with Am in the 5th position, then go to G major, 3rd position, F major, 1st position, and, without changing fingering of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fingers, slide down to E major.
Wow! Amazing all around! Note selection, tone, style, flash... It has that fluid, improvised sound while maintianing an organized approach that builds towards the climax and comes back around and starts again!
That solo was perfect, funny how rational it was for you as you were being all theoretical when you did it. Very inspiring how, if one is familiar with the right tools, playing cool stuff gets a tad easier
There is a lot of talent on True Fire, obviously, but this is where I would direct anyone with an interest in the guitar. Really goes to the heart of the matter. Thankyou.
C is actually the dominant of Fm (V7->vi). In a Latin rhythm like this I’d suggest Fm harmonic minor over the C (C7), since it includes the E note (3rd of C) rather Eb that will tend to clash. I mean, Fm natural over the progression, switching Eb to E when playing the C (C7) chord. If you want add a jazz flavor over the C, consider the C7 altered scale.
Really nice lesson here, thank you for the enrichment. Something about your solo playing... you have a "magical" note that really puts a hook in your lines. No idea what the note is, but only one other guitarist I can say that about is Paul Reed Smith. I'd go to at least 2 of his gigs a month for several years and several times a night he'd just NAIL ya with the mystical note that is his own. It's somewhere between the 5th and 7th:) Well, you also have that rare gift of distinctive melody..... actually, Robin Trower has it, too.... but I don't want to know what scale degree it is.... kinda like I prefer not to know how a magician's act works :) thx again, you are one very talented guitarist !
Can you please send a direct link to the specific jam track in this video. it was nice. I shouldn't have to search every track to find it... or at least what is the name of this specific jam track... Thank you
hey man, could you be a total legend and make a lesson on the style Ry Cooder is playing on the album Mambo Sinuendo with Manuel Galban. In particular a song called 'Bodas De Oro' & 'Secret Love', I can't seem to find any videos on that particular style. Loved this video! Keep it up!
Roberto Silos Godin Multiac Jazz is the guitar. No amp. Guitar plugged into GarageBand through an USB audio interface directly and provided the reverb. The sound is as simple as it gets. No EQ, just a touch of reverb for ambiance.
1000 th like lol Love the guitar you are playing man. But I have a question..... What is the difference between bossa nova's strumming pattern cha cha chas and salsa's cz they sound very similar.
What guitar are you playing? I play a Godin Montreal semi-hollow and I love it, Godin's a great company. I've never seen that model though, and you make it sound great.
Good. Very well played scales overall. Maybe too impressive for students that know little on fast picking. In terms of sound Im sure a nylon cheap guitar will do just fine and play with your i m fingers with good nail shape and sanding. Forget about expensive Godin for most people. On electric guitar look for lowering treble tone. Practice F minor scale like crazy all positions to play like him. Thats all basically.
Forms are the physical positions on the guitar. They give you a map of the fingerboard that only help guitarists. Modes are a music theory term/concept that applies to all instruments.
okay, this is awesome ... but how do you teach someone how to mix these forms? ... play a little bit of a form and then move onto another form ... to me this more of an art than something that can be taught, no?
And totally worth it ;) even the basic ones have a passive/active switch and can toggle each pickups between single coil and humbucker. I've got the A8, 5th avenue, summit and encore and they're all great plugged straight into a desk! you can simply DI them and get a good clean tone. (I'm a fan)
Everytime I think I'm getting really good, I listen to guys like you, and it puts me in my place! LOL. Great playing!
I got this guys course "The Efficient Guitarist", I really like how he lays things out in his teaching methods, MUCH better than many others I tried! Bravo!
I love the way he outlines melodically without making it obvious that he's defining the chords.
I love this guy. He's not full of himself and has a realistic philosophy of learning. I am on the hunt for his full lesson version.

Rabin Miguel thank you, that’s a very kind comment. For me, I think and hear at the same time.

Thank you for the very kind words!
Love this lesson. Thank you, sir.
That guitar is wild.
So beautiful
The progression reminds me of the song from Sting - "Fragile".
Awesome playing
What a class player with a beautiful sound. Lets hope we get loads of video lessons from you. Thanks so much.!!!

I could listen to that all day.
@jaminLA I think you have to practice using all the forms until they're 2nd nature, then they blend into one another, that's how I did it.
very nice play.. i want to search his video.. but what his youtubes name?😐
There’s not really much to find-I don’t have much up and online.
Really great lesson! Thank you 🙏🙏
hi, wonderful, is it possible to get the music sheet for this piece in the video?
It’s improvised; there’s no sheet but you’re welcome to transcribe it!
Magnifique
Great playing like the way you have the Godin set up.
Can't beat the Godin for the smoothest jazz sound! And, of course, superb guitar work....thanks for the great lesson.
Nicely done. Please, how can can that "play-along" progression be obtained? I'd like to give it a whirl..
It’s included with the course. And it’s easily made in GarageBand.
Hello, thanks you for your help. This type of notes are wonderful. Where can I find that backing track that you play solo in the video please?
where can I get the backing track to play to?
It comes with the course at Truefire. It was also generated from GarageBand, so you could make it yourself with the included loops.
good musician, very good one.
A lot of useful information in here.
Great lesson, thank you!
Wow. You're amazing. Thanks so much for the lesson. I have a long way to go but every journey is a step at a time. Cheers

Is the minor scale referring to the harmonic minor or natural minor scale?

Love your playing, the sound your guitar puts out. Would love to know your setup. Guitar, amp, etc.
Roberto Silos Godin Multiac Jazz is the guitar. No amp. Guitar plugged into GarageBand through an USB audio interface directly and provided the reverb. The sound is as simple as it gets. No EQ, just a touch of reverb for ambiance.

great ... what scales are???? ... soryy for my english
which scales does he use besides penatonics
hey so im alittle curious but are these forms the same things as modes? if not how are they different?
Forms are the physical positions on the guitar. They give you a map of the fingerboard that only help guitarists. Modes are a music theory term/concept that applies to all instruments.
C Major isn't part of Fm right? Cm is. So you'll have to use F Harmonic Minor.
wow, thats sounds huge
That was a good...good solo....Like a salty margarita and some great ceviche
where can I find the backing track?
is the progrerssion in 4/4?

What kind of guitar is that!? The tone is real nice.
It's "Godin", a great company, made in Canada.
okay, this is awesome ... but how do you teach someone how to mix these forms? ... play a little bit of a form and then move onto another form ... to me this more of an art than something that can be taught, no?

those guitars are fuckking expensive. xD
And totally worth it ;) even the basic ones have a passive/active switch and can toggle each pickups between single coil and humbucker. I've got the A8, 5th avenue, summit and encore and they're all great plugged straight into a desk! you can simply DI them and get a good clean tone. (I'm a fan)
thank you man!!!!
Freakishly long and skinny fingers helps one play guitar apparently.
Jrbr 549 it don't hurt
so does practice. of course, I have freakishly long fingers.
Hands like the facehugger from alien😕❓😎👍
i have 34 inch fingers yet i can’t play guitar. 😞
Those scales are the typical flamenco we use. Sound much better with a classic guitar though.
mlazos not really. Flamenco does use diatonic scales like in pop but it’s mainly Phrygian dominant.
