I mean bro, CnC has produce few of the most memorable game out there. Its not just nostalgia value but its genuine good game, so of course there would be CnC zealots hahah.
Never got to play this when it came out all those years ago due to it crashing on my pc. But since discovering Ren X last year it's the only game I give myself time to play. Keep up the good work. OHFFS, give us GLA!
Renegade is always going to be special to me. It was one of the first games I've ever played, and is also one of the first games I've ever played online. It's part of my childhood, and how I grew up as a gamer. I remember making friends with one named hekill, now known as Agent, who I know works with you guys within the Renegade X dev team, through this game back in 2008. We were both dumb, stupid kids that also pissed eachother off quite frequently, but we still had great times building and spending time in her servers she made and managed. She has learned a lot about programming through that experience. I learned a lot through this game as well. I gained an interest in modding and custom content through this game. I especially gained interest in 3D animation, as creating a few custom animations for first person weapon mods was my first time doing it, and now in 2019 I'm taking on animation as my profession some day. Of course the game itself is great, and unique. Nothing else like it. I would've liked to have seen what Westwood could expand on with this game multiplayer wise if they ever had that chance. To see what it could've evolved into with the original minds behind the game. And despite being a lot more busy with things today, it's still great that I can still boot up the original game, OR Renegade X's UDK version, and still have a lot of fun, because this game isn't anywhere damn near close to dying just yet.
C&C Renegade will always hold a special place in my heart as one of the greatest online multiplayer experiences I ever had. Whether it was the classic C&C gameplay, the modded maps, playing on roleplay servers, or just the community in general, Renegade was always such a blast to play. It will always be a gem of a game, and one that I wish was more well known in the gaming community at large. It was waaaay ahead of its time
Whew lad, this gave me goosebumps. C&C Renegade was, is and always will be one of my absolute favourite games of all time along with Total Annihilation and Chromehounds. No other game offered such unique and enticing gameplay which very heavily relied on teamplay. Testing your luck with crates(damn you butterfingers!), trying to steal enemy vehicles with stealthyboi for your team to use - to trying to bypass the enemy defenses undetected to take out their power plant or refinery. The moment I saw the opening scene in this video, it had me in a trance - remembering fantastic moments I had not only in SP but especially in MP with the wonderful BlackIntel community. This game got me into modding - it got me into 3D modeling and programming. It basically started my career. I never really gave Renegade X a fair chance, I made the mistake of trying it a bit too early in development and it eventually just went under the radar for me. But seeing the recreated version of C&C City had me mesmerized and first thing I do tomorrow will be to download Renegade X. I really miss those times. I'm so happy to see that you guys are STILL so utterly passionate about Renegade and this project. It really goes to show that Renegade went on to make one of the most passionate and loving communities ever. I'm sure those that worked on Renegade are incredibly proud of what you guys have made. Thank you!
*Command & Conquer Renegade has been with be for 11 years now! I still play the Story! Perhaps 1 of the most legendary games I am honored to have in my collection!!!!*
My dad brought me into the world of Renegade, I was just 5 years old and I would sit at his side as he played, occasionally being allowed a quick go whilst my mum was away, however my dad stopped playing, causing me to start in his footsteps, and I play even now on Renegade X when I can. :)
Renegade (specifically X) became an instant favourite when I picked it up recently. It’s what I miss from games, it’s not a store front, it’s not trying to be some cinematic multiplayer experience, it’s a pure game through and through.
I remember watching the trailer for the original game in Yuri's Revenge i believe and playing the game online for the first time, such a wonderful online concept that was easy to jump into, good on you guys for continuing support of this game.
This is a real underrated game when thought about and truly is ahead of it's time in the Multiplayer aspect. Love Renegade and Renegade X to bits and still will do. C&C community picking up where our beloved games died, carrying the flag with us rising higher and higher all the time
I really appreciate all of the hard work that has gone into (and continues to go into) Renegade X. Command and Conquer Renegade has always held a special place in my heart. While I often find myself wishing I could play more often it's always a pleasure when I do manage to join a match. I'm happy & excited to see what's coming in the future.
Well done, Renegade X. Keep pushing forward! I do agree that a good game will get burned into one's memories, hence why nostalgia trips are rather satisfying.
Amazing job guys. Thats the best part of developing a game, when you are just a big fan and don't care at all for fame or money, you just build a game you would like to play. That's what all game companies should do, let game lovers develop the game.
What you said in this video is the reason why I'm going to download and play Renegade X. And yes, I literally just found out about this true successor to C&C Renegade today so forgive me.
I love Renegade X. I'm sure this has been suggested already, but I'd love to see a Tiberian Sun version as well, not just the abandoned Weapons Factory on Crash Site and some vehicle drops for Tib Sun content.
As a long time Renegade player this video gave me hope. When Jelly finally shut down its servers a couple years ago I've never felt that kind of sorrow before. Renegade has always had such a great community and this game single handedly raised me. I never knew Renegade X ever actually took off and recently I've found myself watching a server of 24+ thrive on random livestreams. It gives me hope and a drive to get back to my PC gaming roots and do my part to keep the greatest game I've ever played alive. All the videos on my channel are of Renegade in its prime and I cant wait to get back to my roots. Keep the dream alive guys.
Back when original C&C: Renegade was relevant, I couldn't play it. I neither had the Internet connection nor could actually buy the legitimate copy of a game. A few PC clubs had it installed but in all the years I've only managed to convince whole single person to give its multiplayer mode a try. I was craving for more but had to do with only the Skirmish mode with all its limitations on the only available Under map. I've sunk many hours dreaming of how one day I'd play it for real with real people. Now more than a decade later... You've fulfilled what was essentially my childhood dream. And I cannot thank you enough for this. You've done a tremendous job and I'm very happy to be able to return to Renegade X every now and then since 2014. Somehow you still have an active community and every time I launch the game there's at least couple of dozen people playing.
Didn't know Renegade had such a dedicated fanbase. Even as a big fan of C&C I discovered it only through the First Decade re-release and enjoyed the shit out of it. That was the end of it though. I might look into playing it again.
I have played it yesterday Renegade X, and it got me hooked up the same way as 17 years ago when i played it for the first time in a LAN party. Glad it didnt die..
let people say what they might. we true funs of command and conquer know that command and conquer and renegade games are not dead and no matter how many years may past they never EVER will. ONE VISION ONE PURPOSE.
Maaan, this video was such a pleasure to watch. Just the amount of hours i've put in this game is astounding, and while I have been taking things a bit easier nowadays, it's still a great way to kill some time. While I don't really play Renegade X anymore (it's hard to get used to playing both at the same time so I stuck with the original), just the development of the game alone has brought me many great moments and for that I'm thankful. Keep 'em coming, fellow commando's!
thank from my childhood i remember me and my brother hearing about this project then seeing the screenshots we were so hyped but unfortunately we could not download it but after learning the game is still alive i going to download it know again thanks from me and my childhood
just discovered the game , please the keep the game up, its best thing i have ever played since C&c. no battlefield and whatnot made today can comapre the fun i'm having with this game
I just found this...Back with Gamespy Arcade, I was the head of a pretty large clan and was a great player. I played EVERY DAY for maybe two years....Holy shit I cannot believe this is still going. Time to see if I am any good still haha
Just found out about this, I don't what I expected, the Renegade community was always tenacious, I shouldn't be surprised there's still a community but I am. Going to check this out, as well as look into those other mods because as a RenAlert and Reborn player any mod of this game is always something special and worth taking a look at.
It is incredible how a game that have different gameplay than the other C&C game and sometimes regarded as mediocre managed to have a dedicated fanbase with mods to keep it alive until today and dedication to even play the original until today, long after the franchise is regarded as dead.
If C&C Renegade will ever be remade or rebooted with a new engine and gameplay, would it reduce the long time player of the original C&C Renegade or Renegade X?
i just want to say THANK YOU for all the endless love and passion you guys put into this amazing recreation!!! you are the BEST! may this journey never end. see you on the battlefield commanders - brainless void
What a great video. Haven't checked in since my later college days right around '14, just learned about Firestorm and NEVER knew about Battle for Dune. I think I'll stop back in soon :) Beautiful job with everything.
Legendary game! Multiplayer was insane… And it all required alot of good teamwork which made it even better. Im actually installing Renegade X right now. Might try to the Original again aswell haha
Havoc/Yosh, It's NoCookie4U, was just checking the website and was thinking about a return. This video was too much and too easy to bring me back. Talking about the days a ftank rushes and sneaking into the enemy base picturesque in my head. Hope to see you boys soon.
So we got a Path Beyond (Red Alert) a very brief single player campaign, a Red Alert 2 and a Tiberium Sun mod of this game. Has there been any plans to integrate all of this into a single game hub? Put it all together and you got a quality project that rivals many AAA products.
I believe APB, Apocalypse Rising, and CNC Reborn can all be launched directly from the W3D hub launcher. It's easy to use. The problem is that almost nobody plays APB and CNC Reborn anymore. I don't think Apocalypse Rising every got to the public Beta stage. CNC Reborn infantry Beta was pretty fun back in 2008 or 2009. I briefly played the vehicle Beta too... that was really good and probably the peak of renegade up until Renegade-X Beta #3.
I was bairly able to pronounce power button when I started playing cnc (the original) by my preteens i was in love with renegade and generals. Will always have all the cnc on my machines. I'm glad to see that while ea has destroyed what was once the height of gaming, we gamers have kept pushing to provide better tools and mods for our favorite games. This video has me Getty with excitement for the future of cnc. I only hope that we see Westwood return and reclaim thier license for cnc. If only they had put a clause in when selling out.
This is exciting :D! Going to get this now, wish I had found this sooner! You know now they are remastering the originals, I am kind of excited but it would of been nice to see some kind of reboot of C&C but this is cool to see nice newer renegade!
@@alexwilsonvids They are already using those guys for the C&C remasters. Some of the OG Westwood guys founded that studio and Frank Klepacki loves to work with them.
Renegade, a step away from the original Command and Conquer formula, RTS, and gem of a different kind. Renegade may not have shined back in 2002 when it first came out, but given a few years, and Renegade could not be more relevant than ever. With the increased popularity of FPS with games like Halo, Call of Duty, the Tom Clancy series, even Minecraft, and so many more, Renegade can now shine bright. And with a passionate modding community behind it, Renegade has become a great game that will continue to grow. My hats off to Westwood for making a game with potential and to the modding community for refining the game.
Always my favorite. Hope one day they'll make a remastered/reworked version with same story same Gameplay but outstanding graphics design. And further new stories.
Even when that game became like the old Battlefield series to me, but with a C&C flavor, I felt great of playing it. At least we keep this game alive until we see how the C&C Remaster delivers when it comes
I really love the C&C series, it's sad to see it losing popularity, if only EA doesn't cancel good ideas such as Renegade 2 (cancelled), TIBERIUM (another cancelled game, this is an fps game that took place in Tiberium Wars), Generals 2, and other bunch of stuff...
Its sad that not a lot of people know renegade... The original game was my first game i played on pc, i still remember some funny moments like when Havoc accidentally shoot a soldier with sniper on a roof and said oops :) Also that part is in video 2:40.
Thank you for all the hard work ! at first i was hyped when they announce Tiberium the FPS that suppose to "follow up" on renegade.. but not a supprise there it got cannceld.. i did not know there was this out there! im going to download and play this game !! when i get back from work haha
The games are small, but they're all far from dead. RenX fills a 64 player server virtually every day of the week, and pushes over 100 on Saturdays during pickup games. even Old Renegade can get a good 50/60 on the weekends. I've seen actual dead games... they arent on that list. Renegade kind of suffers from the same issue as CnC3. The community is dominated by Europeans, so you kind of have to play on their time to see the games when they're active.
@@DroxElite i am european... and a few days ago i played ren x for some hours again and only had maybe 30 people who were mostly newbies who don't use teamchat.
@@Daxter250 Obviously it's going to be dependent on exactly what time, but every day i played for the last 2 weeks or so we made it to 30v30+, and around the time that happens is when either the better people or on, or theres just a higher chance of people paying attention since you're casting a bigger net.
I love the original Renegade. It's hands down my favorite game and I've been playing it for about 12 years now. It's such a simple yet fun game but unfortunately, I must disagree with you. The game is pretty much dead, I'm talking about the vanilla one, not modded servers. Sometimes it might get close to 30 people on the last vanilla-ish server, but that's during weekends. I remember how back in the day you'd have to spam the refresh button to finally find a server to play on, there were so many of them and they were all filled with 50 people at all time usually. There was this thing called TEAMPLAY which you don't really see nowdays, you can only hope to get the better players in your team to roflstomp the noobs in the other. People were friendlier and cheaters were dealt with properly(unlike now, if you're a renegade player you'll know what I mean) and you'd have a pretty good time all around. But at some point about 7 or 8 years ago, the majority of the players left, real life kicked in or they found other games to play(like BF3 for example). Then Renegade X came along and took some more players and that forced a bunch of servers to close down, mainly Jelly-Games. The server became deserted and even though they added a couple of mods that people got used to on different servers(like sounds) they still couldn't attract players. It became a zombie server and a while ago they officially took it down. That left a single server up that was close to vanilla, a modded one, a bunch of Co-Op servers and the guys at W3D. I tried to play RenX when MP came out, but it felt too weird to be honest. It was too complicated compared to the original game. Arties shooting in an arc, turreted MLRS, sprint being a thing which made people run around like headless chickens with AoE guns shooting at your feet to kill you, the fact that it's a different engine so it's probably impossible to have Free Aim(the V key as most know it) which made infantry like snipers pretty obsolete if people just sprint around you with tiberium rifles or chem sprayers(really chem sprayer's op now?) or volts. I gave it a second chance not too long ago, thinking the game would've been a bit different but it was pretty much the same. The contrast is too much, dark areas are literally pitch black(played on Snow), it has a lot of bloom and a bunch of the players didn't even know this was made after an actual game that was released years ago. I couldn't play it for more than half an hour and honestly I don't think I will ever play it again. It's really nice that people try to keep the game alive, by making mods for it or indie games based on it, that's what kept most of the C&C games alive for so long. The C&C community is definitely the best one around, always caring about the games, releasing patches to fix stuff, anti cheats, mods and other fun stuff and loyal till the end. But RenX is not for me, and Renegade is but a shadow of what it was in the past, gone are the days where you'd play a fucking 20+ hours game on Field or Walls_Flying with nothing but bar vs hon or PP vs PP, whoring for crates hoping you'd at least get a buggy, mass soldier or engi rushes or tunnel beacon spam hoping you'd finally kill that darn refinery on Field or Glacier_Flying. And it's a shame we'll never get those moments back and all we've got are memories. Happy bday Renegade and I hope it'll reach 20 years even if it's going to be dead.
C&C community is one of the most resilient fan base I've ever seen.
Yeah but EA always puke on them

Guys you need to get out there.... serious contact IGN at least to ask to have this posted. This is amazing!
its been 17 years and ı didnt see this masterpiece
I was bairly able to pronounce power button when I started playing cnc (the original) by my preteens i was in love with renegade and generals. Will always have all the cnc on my machines. I'm glad to see that while ea has destroyed what was once the height of gaming, we gamers have kept pushing to provide better tools and mods for our favorite games. This video has me Getty with excitement for the future of cnc. I only hope that we see Westwood return and reclaim thier license for cnc. If only they had put a clause in when selling out.
I'm not crying, you are.
My most favourite video on the internet!
renegade x is so much fun! gj guys
one of the BEST multiplayer games EVER.
i love the original SO MUCH
This is exciting :D! Going to get this now, wish I had found this sooner! You know now they are remastering the originals, I am kind of excited but it would of been nice to see some kind of reboot of C&C but this is cool to see nice newer renegade!
A Remaster of the entire campaign would be epic
(Crying like a little girl) STAND.........
SALUTE......
Good to be back..........Commander X (That you. I'm talking Renegade X)
I never knew there was a BFD mod for Ren. I always wished there was tho.
Awesome !!!! I miss Renegade. Lots of people playing X ?
Keep ‘em coming!
I'd die for a proper Renegade 2
Renegade 2 was also a thing back then, till it got cancelled because westwood got shutdown :l
EA would ruin it, fan community and totem would be the only ones who could do it justice.
@@alexwilsonvids Petroglyph Games ?
@@alexwilsonvids They are already using those guys for the C&C remasters. Some of the OG Westwood guys founded that studio and Frank Klepacki loves to work with them.
@@Mewhywhy1 after they remastered cnc they´ll have cash for more cnc ,maybe even cnc renegade 2
Damn those explosions at the end 💥😱
And further new stories.
me too.
Great video, Fobby!
I never played renegade outside of c&c the 1st decade. But I love seeing a community come together better than what I see with destiny.
never had a chance to play renegade. this might change with this game.
Even when that game became like the old Battlefield series to me, but with a C&C flavor, I felt great of playing it. At least we keep this game alive until we see how the C&C Remaster delivers when it comes
This game always has a place in my hearth
I love growing up with it
I really love the C&C series, it's sad to see it losing popularity, if only EA doesn't cancel good ideas such as Renegade 2 (cancelled), TIBERIUM (another cancelled game, this is an fps game that took place in Tiberium Wars), Generals 2, and other bunch of stuff...
Expansive Civilian Warfare is the best Renegade full conversion mod. That game pulled off the impossible with W3D engine the most.
Its sad that not a lot of people know renegade... The original game was my first game i played on pc, i still remember some funny moments like when Havoc accidentally shoot a soldier with sniper on a roof and said oops :) Also that part is in video 2:40.
I love this so much i liked it twice
Great video!
Very well made!
Thank you for all the hard work ! at first i was hyped when they announce Tiberium the FPS that suppose to "follow up" on renegade.. but not a supprise there it got cannceld.. i did not know there was this out there! im going to download and play this game !! when i get back from work haha
Just love this game
this game has such huuuge potential and thanks to the modding community (i still remember uaow servers with all its greta mods
Dude when i was 4 years old i played .i love this game and i am 15 now but now also play it thnx to yall
Very well said.
one of the best games ever made
I remember playing the hell out of the GameSpy demo wishing I had the full game.
I miss this game! I played for 10 years! Some of you might recognize me. How would I go about trying to play this game again?
Can anyone still tell me if the original renegade is still played?
is that a new renegade x campaign i see coming
Hoping for more single player stuff :(
