@@CrizzyEyes Indeed, the animations are godly and easily put to shame the sloppy job made by the devs that worked on a certain mech game (see PGI and MechWarrior Online/MechWarrior 5)
@@colbyboucher6391 As far as normal walking speed cycles goes the animations are fine, I can see the titan and wolverine (especially the latter) being a little bit too bouncy while sprinting tho, also my comment was in regards to the overall animations set for the walkers. I do particularly like the leg walk cycle animations and how smooth the transitions are between forward movement and side strafing.
Holy shit, the appearances of the vehicles reimagined to what they would look like if made today is just beautiful. The devs were right, if they stuck to the original designs from TibSuns CG cutscenes, they would look awkward. But they did a bang-on job at making sure they stayed faithful to the original designs. I feel like they need to bring the TPS view of the wolverin a bit further back, its looks way too close that the animation movement makes it a bit jarring.
Spotify in the background = sorted. Legal issues would prevent them from adding it to the music playlist, for now just open up in the background and it works fine
@@jthwaits it's a free game which confuses me how they arent allowed to use it when they arent making money off it. I'll also usually run a metal playlist in the background while playing doom mods but I'm not worried about performance issues with doom. Wouldnt running a music app in the background effect performance with a 64 player online game like this?
@@HughMansonMD not really, the engine is UE3, so there's a very small performance hit. Music is copyright EA, so that's a whole bunch of seperate legal issues.
That sounds like a cool idea. Probably just small infantry squads though, bots should be easy to kill but can also easily take you out if you’re not careful. Bots of Tanks and Aircraft are not only time consuming to program, but kinda annoying for players to deal with in game.
I think the idea that players are elites and you get AI mob grunts running around deserves more tries than just Titanfall. And infantry only I guess - Those bots are not enemies per se but glorified health/point pickups for the players who kill them, I find that an extremely cool concept.
I don't think it's an AI issue, but more of a connection one. Having hundreds of bots swarming the enemy in a 64 player server will be hell for those that have ping issues.
Come back after 10 months, still feel fresh and gorgeous to me. I really like the UI of infantry selection, hope dev will keep this in the launch version.
Tiberian Sun was one of my favorite games when i was a kid, and seeing this game is like all my childhood dreams come true. I have not much time to play games nowdays, but i wish you good luck in your project, and more people getting interested in it!

Just realized the comments in this section show one thing pretty clearly: the sad state of affairs in today's gaming environment is not due to players' faulty expectations or whatever. It's due to shitty games companies producing shitty money grabbing attempts and not listening to gamers or not knowing what gamers want. Apparently gamers (at least some as can be seen here) know what they want! And that turns out to be some amazing stuff.
Absolutely. The modding community that developed content or even full fledged games like this is a testament to that. Look at all the mods developed for battlefront 2 man, a couple fans put out more skins in one month then DICE had in MONTHS. We’re at a point where the consumer has more ambition and passion for games than these developers themselves. I don’t know what it is man, the parent companies, the publishers. Whatever it’s sad and I hope it’s just some shitty phase that will end
Yep, you can see the same with Command & Conquer 3. Everyone wanted that to be Tiberian Sun like, but instead they release something else. Although it was still really good, the Tiberian Esccence Mod was better, and exactly what the community wanted. Then you have the Tiberian Sun Rising Mod that people have been following for about 20 years, still with interest because it's exactly what they wanted in the first place.
I'd like a spy satellite ability that lets you remain in your base but perhaps gives you 5 solid seconds of seeing the whole battlefield from above like a sort god camera.
OMFG! I can't believe this...! never thought I'd see the day. it's amazing. The look and vibe SCREAMS Tiberian sun. They really nailed the atmosphere, more so than anyone else imo. And everything from gun sounds, models, animations... just... wow... fantastic. Ragdoll physics are actually really good too. That bit where you took a shot to the gut and rolled off the rocks was impressive looking.
If PiranhaGames had listened to us back in the day... MechWarrior Online would pretty much be like this... and i´d still play it :) But they always lacked the vision and didn´t even remotely understand what we meant ...
@@RSProduxx Even worse, MWO was still fun to play back in 2016/17 until they completely slowed down the gameplay and pretty much nerfed a bunch of playstyles out of existence, thus making it even a chore to play gameplay wise.

What i like even more than what a remarkable job thats been done here, is that its showcased! Most advertise without showing more than 2 little pieces of the project. You have shown a few minutes of gameplay with nearly the entire GDI arsenal
I feel that the leg animation on the wolverine should be revised, I think you should avoid the over extended steps, make the steps shorter and after a certain speed switch for a jog probably, right now still looks kinda weird from the sides.
I am a little curious about why make entirely new designs but if you think about it; that's what Renegade did with Tib Dawn's original designs where they had unique twists on them. That does make me wonder what Renegade X would look like with designs faithful to the original Tib Dawn designs like the using the GAU-3 Eliminators, Nod soldiers in white urban fatigues, the artillery being the giant fixed cannon on treads, etc.
I miss the OG Renegade days, when organization was much better, and successful APC rushes stacked full of engies always felt like such a huge accomplishment. Ahhh, those were the days.
A nice balance touch on Obelisk of Light that it now do burst damage over short duration instead of one single instance. a potential infantry sweep attack :o

Reminds me alot of what I and many others asked PGI to make when MWO was still in early development... but noooo, a few million budget weren´t enough to do what some fans could achieve :) I mean, imagine a game in the BattleTech Universe with purpose to the battles (and combined forces maybe, not even necessary) in a PlanetSide style environment... Too much to ask i guess...
2 small remarks that I encountered in this alpha state: the discs from the disc thrower could need more area of damage in my oppinion (splinter effect of grenades?) and the turrets (at least from the GDI) should be on top of the wall or behind? It would make more sense if their base is protected. Of course this need to be game balanced, but from a strategical point of view, you know? :)
The shooting reminds me a bit of Hellgate. Regarding weapon feeling. But just by the looks. And the gameplay of Planetside (the jetpack LightAssault) and an fps version of Return Fire. If it gets a decent air game and around 500+ (1000 would be nice) players per map, I'm in.
Man I fucking wish for the best. The work they've done is incredible. And I fucking hope EA isn't stupid enough to strike it down. Because: A. They wouldn't do anything with the franchise any more and B. Even if they did a Renegade type game, the player numbers will be very low and money won't flow. So. Just give such a project the Fans which dedicate their very lives on a free game. True passion right there.
They should see if they can get random ion storms mid matches with the same effects are in tib sun. Also would like to see tib be alot bigger. Always seems like there's no money if I was a commander.

As you can hear in the last dev podcast on Renegade X UA-cam channel, the gun gameplay has been modified for firestorm, everything seems heavier.. weapons has much recoil too, I think it's going to be really cool :D

The original Renegade game came out way before Battlefield 1942 and Star Wars Battlefront 1. It was really innovative back then.
Imagine if you could have swarms of bots along with human players like Titanfall. That'd make it feel even more like an RTS!

Will there be any optimization made in this update? I've noticed the game runs at like 40fps for me, and I have a 2080 Super.
Are you using the 64 bit mode? mouse smoothing disabled? I use a 1080 and get way above your frame rate with everything set to high om Renegade X.

Just an FYI I believe the basebuilding, huge maps, and a few other things from this Alpha are not making it to Renegade X Firestorm.
TTK and weapon feel as a whole is definitely a major improvement over vanilla RenX. Shame that it still runs on EU3, but hey, what can you do.
It still looks great despite being UDK3, looks better than most UE4 games due to the art design.
