I love helle knives I have two and they were both perfect. The shop you purchased this from is to blame , they should be checking these things before they go out I'm sure it was damaged either at the place you purchased it at or the damage was caused during shipping. Knives like this don't leave the helle factory.
I wonder what the american shopkeepers do to their stock because the only tiles I see people have issues with Helle knives is when they’re bought in America
@@Herr_Gamer try not to group up every single American retailer like that. I'd expect issues from knife center but dlt does it right each and every time
This is very rare and I’m surprised to see it. I myself have owned many, most of my friends and family own at least one and the only issue I’ve seen is one had a slight discolouration of the leather spacers
I would have sent this one back. I have the same knife, supplied by Heinnie Haynes and it is spot on with no issues at all. May I ask why you accepted an knife that should not have passed inspection/quality control at the factory. I am sure if you return it to the retailer or the factory they will almost certainly replace it.
I could live with two of the issues and chalk them up to rustic handmade charm but NOT the lopsided mounting that’s when it would have gone back. No doubt in my mind. The problem I think is we are getting used to seeing perfect machined knives and a cosmetic issue can seem a big deal As I’ve already said it would have gone back if it was mine because of the wonky mounting, but that aside is it for looking at or using? If it’s the latter I say use it, and use it well. Form a bond with it over several years and then just sand and polish it back to as was. I’m sure the knife is well up to that
Sometimes I wonder if maybe these retailers aren't buying factory seconds and selling them as is. I noticed a lot of bent or warped blades over the last few years, I find it hard to believe QC has become common place everywhere. Never know though.
I would have kept the knife if it wasn't for the somewhat crooked blade. That was the thing that put me off. I would have ignored the other small niggles.
Made me wonder that too. I'm surprised that Helle is willing to risk the loss to their reputation. When a product is billed as "hand crafted", I assume that even MORE attention has been payed to product quality.
Yeah I went and purchased a Helle Utvaer, It’s a work of art. But I drove over a hour away just to put my hands on it before dropping that kind of money.
I don't understand why people think this is me being nit picky. I paid over £100 for a knife and I expect the blade to be straight. Simple as that. If I bought a golf club I'd expect the shaft to be straight. It's not that unreasonable.
@@alexrudavin540only 100 pound for a harding ? The retailer clearly did something to sell it that cheap. These knives are completely handmade, tooling marks, "imperfections" are and should be expected and anticipated. Only collectors gripe about knives that are anything short of a perfect specimen. Like people have done for 40 thousand plus years, use your knife until is literally breaks on you. Try not to focus on something unless it poses a safety hazard
Everyone can decide what is acceptable for them as a customer. I can live with "imperfections" but a blade that is mounted clearly off axis isn't an "imperfection" in my opinion.
@@alexrudavin540 the knife appears to be a stick tang, maybe I'm not understanding what you mean by mounted off axis, they do make full'er' tang knives like the temagami in 14C28N Maybe that will be better for you

Hand made by someone on a Friday at the end of the day on a holiday weekend!! By someone who hated his life already! Not capable of caring about quality.
Да сам не знал, то ли на русском, то ли на английском записать)) В принципе нож хороший. Я его вернул только из-за криво закреплённого клинка. Может быть попробую ещё один купить)
It’s a handmade knife! You know by people go try to make one in your garage then try complaining or even just put a new handle on that one. Stick to robot china junk if you can’t deal with imperfections that come with handmade products of any kind

Helle is far from handmade… many automatic processes and machines. Hand finished yes, but blade alignment, handle shaping (90%) and sheathing is automated

Yes they do!!!
My Helle Harding arrived today with a badly aligned blade. Very disappointing considering how expensive these knives are.
I have several Moras and I was tempted to buy a Helle. I'm having second thoughts now.
