I saw in your title TY recommended that you're age 15. I'm age 21 and did gymnastics almost 14 years. But when I was still age 15 I got severely beat up by 3 older high school athletes. I'm adopted from Ukraine and raised in rural America. I was alone on a summer night doing a bar workout at our school's sports fields. I did pull ups, muscle ups, and hanging leg raises. I thought I was alone then some the guys came over. They said they wanted to see how long a gymnast could take their punches. They put me in a full nelson and targeted my abs off and on for a long time. I had done hard abs training for 10 years by that night but never took punches before. I was scared shitless and running on adrenaline and kept my abs contracted hard as I could. They gave me some rest breaks but wouldn't let me go. That night got me into wanting to lift weights for a lot more muscle mass--legs in particular. I stayed in gymnastics but did that less and less over time. I met some high school wrestlers at our summer school weight room and they helped me start lifting weights for hypertrophy. That night changed me in big ways. One of the biggest ways is that I went from being fearful to having a lot of self confidence. When I realized my abdominals could take so much abuse the fear left me. I later healed up and grew taller and my legs got larger (I'm envious of power lifters with large quads). I unfortunately also got into training my abs to take hard punches. Too many athlete friends eager to train me. Anyway I see you are age 15 and it made me smile and bring back that night when I was a 15 year old gymnast. Have a great summer.
