    I have a cabin 4 miles southwest of Alma near Sacramento Creek, 10,600 ft elevation. We would ride our motorcycles to the pass on weekends and then watch the 4 wheelers destroy their vehicles due to large boulders on the road located from the higher London Mine area to the top. Then, mid-2005 time frame, somebody had the county take a grader up the east side and clear the boulders off the road. What you see now is nothing like the mid-'90s. Used to be much more challenging. Two years ago I took my Subaru up to the summit. I love your drone work and really just taking your time to see the area, not going with your hair on fire like we see the RZR's are doing now. There is a video on U-tube of a red jeep from 5 yrs ago that shows the road even 5 yrs ago was much more challenging than now.

    You've got some great drone shots there!
    We drove that road a year ago. It's fairly long and very rough meaning bumpy. I do a lot of trails and this one was beyond my tolerance for rough roads, even aired down. Point out to your viewers that some people say this is the highest mountain pass you can drive over anywhere in the US.

    First time i went over mosquito pass was 1969 or 70 my dad took us over the pass in a 1966 chevy 3/4 ton 2wd truck with a trailer on thank god for rockwell posi diffs i drove it in 1988 in the dark of night in my 74 wagoneer so i could hit holycross trail at daylight and i truly tortured my brother in law on mosquito pass i gave him a hand held spotlight and he saw how far it was to the bottom and he shut the light off put his seat belt on and barely took a breath the rest of the way to leadville lol i miss those road trips with him he wasnt raised by his dad so he never got outta denver/commerce city so he jumped at any chance to go wheeling with us or just me and we usually brought our sons on those trips...good times👍

    That service road to the right at top of pass goes to the top of kuss peak 13,500 feet. I ran it this summer and the view was amazing. By chance I saw the guy maintaining the cell equipment up there and asked if I was OK up there and he said fine. There is a road that go's even higher around mosquito peak. That's next years project.

    Great. Video! We did mosquito pass around Sept 10 and saw a mountain lion on east side a little ways below London mill. Pretty cool

    Thank you for the video and inspiration. Do you think its doable with stock F150 Raptor ?

    • @TrailTraveler
      @TrailTraveler  5 місяців тому

      Yeah, it's just rough and rocky, there isn't anything that I would consider "obstacles" on the trail.

    Great video! Why is airing down even a discussion? If you don't get the purpose of airing down, what other concepts don't they get? Tread lightly? Leave it better than you found it? A good method of airing up should be people's first purchase. Thanks for trying to explain it.

      There is another local channel here and the host always says he almost never airs down because of the inconvenience. I mention it in almost every video because I feel it is one of the first things people should learn to do.

    Hi Kerry. Do you remember about what date you went through here? I see you posted this Nov. 19th, so probably a few days before that? I'd like to take my family up through there this fall and was wondering when the best time to see all those beautiful colors was. Great videos by the way! Subscribed! I'm in Co Springs so maybe I'll see you on the trail sometime!

      It was mid-October, any later than that and it becomes impassable due to snow

    We have plans to explore Colorado and Utah next year. Wont be able to go everywhere because we have an F350 4x4 crew cab diesel. But we'll do what we can. Your videos will help make choices.

      That's Quackers! I made a custom harness so he could enjoy the view of the trail. He has been all through Moab, all over the San Juans, and many, many trails.

    Nice video. About 8 years ago I almost made it to the top in a Ford Escape. That was an adventure. Now I have a 4wd and am ready to tackle Mosquito again. Until next time.... Travel Safe

    So tired of a-holes putting their graffiti garbage on signs & historical ruins.
