I was hoping some info on the video for cam specs, solid or hydraulic grind etc explanation of tiebar lifters, flow rate of the heads spring pressures even length of push roads needed... even how much taken off the head face....
Its cool to set a Car Girl, let alone one that does mechanical stuff and knows cars inside and out, YES SMILING DOES HELP, very sexy and interesting, unlike a monotone guy explaining valve duration for half an hour

Question! My fiance has a 04' GT0 5.7l. As a wedding gift, I want to get him a cam. I'd go ahead & get it installed for him but he'd notice if his pride & joy was missing while I have it at the shop. Do you have any suggestions as far as brand? Maybe a link to a site where I can order everything that is needed?

When you installed the roller liters with the link bars . Do you need to use the lifter trays

Flying Sparks Garage thanks for the response. I just finished up a H/C/I project tonight and after watching this video I think I'm going to put the bar style lifters in my next motor. I'm not a big fan of the lifters & trays. I'm afraid ones gonna manage to turn and wipe out the cam

What cam did you go with ?
Tip: Attaching a 3" long bolt to camshaft gear face will aide in installing cam into block to avoid damaging bearings.
i think i would have painted the heads to match the block... i know this is an older episode... just found this channel and im liking it thus far.

Michael Downey Yes, I absolutely did... it was my mistake by not including the footage or state that I did... and it wasn’t the red type that shows up easily! Honestly, I’m the moment I didn’t want to film myself living the camshaft. 😅

if I change out my cam. the only thing I would have to change out is the lifters right
Depends on the size of the cam..Generally you change a cam with springs, since the power band is shifted up, and you definitely want to avoid valve float. Also, in some engines, push-rods can be upgraded, trunnion bearings can be strengthened, timing chain, etc.

It looks like it may have some engine oil on it. No break in lube of any kind though. I’m more concerned about how she just jammed it in there, knowing she scratched every one of the cam bearings. Maybe she’ll get lucky...then again, maybe the cam will fail in a few weeks.

that cam needed more lube. put 3 water pump bolts in the cam for leverage and turn as it goes in. makes it easier. hear that creak torquing the head bolts. that scared me when I did mine. sounds and feels like you are striping them. it's fine.
Everyone gave me trouble for the appearance of lack of lube on my cam- it was lubed, but not very visible on camera. Again, the motor has almost 10k on it! Hopefully she keeps on keepin' on!

you only do that on the dampener and a few others... the rest you go in a star pattern till a ft- lbs rating

Southern Bucks degreeing cams is overrated
If you line up the timing marks on the cam sprocket and crank sprocket then you have your cam timed. Just rotate the engine over 4 times and if the marks are still aligned then it’s timed. Also make sure when you line up the marks that your engine is at Top Dead Center

Nice video and I’m sure it was meant to be done fast for the companies but man this is legit the only video I’ve found that has a the heads and cam being replaced and lifters with good quality but absolutely no instructions and the camera Angling was bad and everything was just like “slap on” next scene oh all done boom finished
Sorry we didn’t shoot more instruction, it’s a fine line for me because I’m not an expert and internet bullies get the best of me at times- so I don’t end up shooting ‘how to’ style!
If ya need help, the tech line at COMP Cams is usually real good!
