I just couldn't believe we'd get a sitrep like that when there's no option to choose a different mission. And for that to happen right after I sent Hogbite and another sergeant out on a covert op... what are the odds?
On one hand, I feel like it was incredibly reckless to do it... but it was too good to pass up and leaving that many guys alive would have been almost as reckless.
*After the battle Ross and Wei inspect the device* Ross: "How's it looking?" Wei: "It works, barely. How did you know that it wouldn't blow up?" Ross: "I didn't, but how could I say no to blowing up six Advent"😁 Wei: "You shouldn't be so reckless" 😑 *Wei begins to repair the device* Ross: "Look Wei, if I know anything is that, my wife loves me, Muton tastes like bacon, and that the only good alien is a dead alien." Wei: "Fair enough.....Wait a minute-"🤨 *Back on the Avenger* Bradford: "Shen does this bacon look a bit odd to you?"😐 Shen: "It's...Orange, why is it Orange?" Bradford: "That's it, no more restocking supplies at Reaper HQ" Probably one of the best value remote starts I have seen, and Ray close up will be the most replayed part of the video 😊 Definitely a high point for the series, although I do feel for Syken as the next mission will be tough
Remind me never to eat food that comes from Reapers! And I just tried to check to see whether Ray's close-up got more viewing time, but it's too soon to see. I need to remember to check tomorrow night and see.
5:40 Ray agrees there will be no threading of the needle. 5:57 He strongly reiterates his point. It is nice to see his little face. He's a good kitty! You were more aggressive with both groups than I have seen previously. Well done!
I swear, I think I was having an out-of-body experience in that second encounter. The remote start was amazing, but I had no way of knowing if the device would be destroyed and... just let it rip. That said, I do think it was a good gamble because the device absorbed 10 points of damage on that turn and with so many enemies active there's no telling how many might have fired at it the following turn. If I had to take them down with gunfire, who knows how many turns that would have taken? I could easily see the device getting destroyed if we didn't take the shot, and our troops probably would have absorbed some wounds as well.
Sometimes caution is the right way, sometimes you just need gratuitous violence. That finisher was high risk, high reward and was both violent and gratuitous - love it. Pulling multiple packs at the end, then having your Reaper revealed could have been bad, but a well deserved flawless. Great episode! Also bonus kitty is super cute
You're right, this was the very definition of high risk, high reward. We could have easily ended up failing the mission, suffering multiple wounds, and possibly even losing a soldier or two. Thankfully, we were able to avoid that fate, but I'm often struck by how easily a successful mission could have gone wrong or a disastrous one could have been successful if just one key decision had been different.
Spectacular. A Ray cameo. A 5 kill remote start. And the cliffhanger at the end; will Syken believe it was accidental? And will he forgive our hero? All in one fun-filled episode. Who could ever ask for more. Without a doubt will be watching the next episode, Great vid
Funny, I just experienced this psi-zombie dark event yesterday after never having seen it before. I feel like the reanimation thing would swing between being a minor nuisance MOST of the time, and an absolute run killer when you get an ADVENT heavy mission and you accidentally activate multiple pods. Thankfully I seem to get mostly aliens at the moment in my mid-late game. Ps. Kudos for having the sense to recognize the Remote Start opportunity. Well worth taking damage on the objective when you get a double pod wipe out of it!
I see it the same way. On a lot of missions, it would just be an annoyance. But if you're in a really tough fight and taking some wounds then to have a lancer or trooper suddenly revive from what looked like a kill could get ugly.
A flawless eye to eye with Ray! I did think that you were going to get a flawless on #17 - the 1st half was so well played and maybe just unlucky on the 2nd half.
I believe that all the trouble started when I moved one soldier forward toward the end of a turn and triggered that last pod. Before doing it, I said that I probably shouldn't take the risk but then did it anyway. If I'm honestly critiquing that mission, I probably could have had a flawless mission if I had just been less aggressive with that move and triggered the pod at the start of my next turn. At the least, I would have had a better chance at it.
That purple guy was a reject from the Super Bowl half time show auditions. He was so upset he went to the baddies and joined them. Also, the correct fact is the Ray has never been wounded on any of the missions.
I’m not gonna lie I saw the title of the video and thought this might go horribly. Like squad wipe turn 3 bad. But it was literal. I do not think a single thing could have gone better. The guy with the pistol attacking the devise was definitely huge.
So do I, he's a very sweet little cat. Just as an FYI, part 23 goes live tomorrow and he comes to visit me multiple times so he's on camera more than usual.
Hey, good to see you again! There's a link to the whole list in the description of each video. You'll also want to use the Alternative Mod Launcher instead of the default or I doubt the game will even load.
I actually prefer to watch your episodes than play the game myself. I find it quite frustrating and make too much use of the save and load game buttons...
What do I do about my game running terribly on PS4 Pro? I haven't gotten to "the chosen" dlc yet, but it already runs pretty bad. I've heard the game runs even worse once you start that dlc. Should I just play the vanilla game and avoid the dlc? Is there a system that plays the game so much better? (I've heard pc runs great) Thanks for any advice.
I'm sorry to say that Xcom 2 is not well optimized on any platform but it's been notoriously bad on every console that I'm aware of. It definitely runs best on PC and that will also open the door to mods (including a host of bug fixes).
@TapCat thank you for your reply. I might just look into getting a PC. It would be nice if someday they would put a patch in it like 2k did with their Mafia 3 game.
The bestest of episodes! And leaving Syken with that mission tomorrow is such a cliffhanger it gives the Expanse season finales a run for their money.
I just couldn't believe we'd get a sitrep like that when there's no option to choose a different mission. And for that to happen right after I sent Hogbite and another sergeant out on a covert op... what are the odds?
Great Ray cameo, great Remote Start and a heckuva cliffhanger. Title checks out
For a minute there, I was worried you wouldn't go for that remote start. I was literally screaming internally "DO IT"
On one hand, I feel like it was incredibly reckless to do it... but it was too good to pass up and leaving that many guys alive would have been almost as reckless.
Flawless, just flawless! What a superb set-up for Syken 😂
Right?! I can't think of a single thing that he'd have to complain about!
@@TapCat I can imagine his reaction already :D

My only regret is that every video isn't as eventful as this one!
Gotta love Ray. He's so cute

Ray is the true MVP of this mission 😂🎉
Well said!
Ray: "Camera is mine!" I do enjoy his little cameos in these videos 😊
You definitely got a chance to see him in this one!

6:13 - Hi Ray!
Ray says "Meow!"

True, Ray gets the true flawless rating.

Ok, the ending was the moment TapCat knew Syken will hate him from now on.
I can't remember when I've simultaneously felt genuinely bad about something and found it so hilarious as I did at that moment.
❤Ray❤
Another day, another flawless... Just another Monday... 😎
Exactly, just like every other mission I've ever run... ahem!
That last 90 seconds was one of the best endings to an episode of XCOM I've EVER seen. 😂
I'll be honest, watching that again still makes me laugh!
Perfect promotion for next episode 🙂
I'm looking forward to watching it myself!
always nice to watch a video of someone with a cat on his lap while having a purr purr on my own lap
Cat-dads unite!
Glad to see you posting content again. For a while I thought something happened 😢
Thanks, I appreciate the sentiment.
The moment I saw those 2 pods activate and clump together was the moment I knew you're risking the objective health for a remote start :D
It was crazy risky, but I did feel like it was less so than having all those guys alive to fire at both the device and us for the next few turns.
Mass irony episode and bonus little fella ❤
That was wholsom3 😂😂😂
Best series ever
i love ray so much
