- Changing spark plugs and air filter on an Indian scout or scout 60. Both are the same. You will need motorcycles Jack for this job if you’re planing to change the spark plugs. You do not need a Jack if you just change the air filter. Save yourself a few hundreds DYI. It should take no more than 2 hrs.

You don't need to heat up the airbox with a hot air gun. The easiest way to take the airbox off is with a 2x4 and a broom/shovel. I'm 100% serious!
Put a 2x4 that's about a foot long across where the rear mounting position is for the frame rails. Take a broom (I use a shovel with a padded handle since it's what I have on-hand), and place the handle portion under the left-rear of the airbox (and the other end of the wood/broom/shovel handle towards the right side of the bike) and lever it off with the 2x4 acting as the fulcrum. You can use another long piece of wood instead of a broom or shovel handle, just be careful not to damage the airbox if it's a 2x4 and has an edge. You can swap the handle over to the right side if you need to as well but you'll probably find that the airbox will just pop off if you lever on the left side of it.
If you've never taken the airbox off of your bike and you've had the bike for a while, the airbox will be practically glued on and impossible to remove with just your hands. The wood gives you way more leverage than you can get on your own just by pulling on the airbox manually and makes it ridiculously easy to take the airbox off.
When you put the airbox back on afterwards, if it's not lining up with the throttle body, either slightly raise or lower the height of the motorcycle jack until the airbox just slips on.

Changing the fluid is a bitch. I did it and you have to constantly burping to add water in a small amount of water at a time. The design is horrible. If the water is still good, I would not do it. Or you be there for hrs burping the hose to remove the air out. Good luck
@@Yololife813 Honestly I agree but it's time, about to hit 24k and I don't think the previous owner did it (2016 Scout). Luckily for me I enjoy projects like this, I know that you can understand the joy of working with your hands on your own stuff :)
I need to do this in mine. Did you jack up the jack to where it supports the motor without lifting the motorcycle? I see the kickstand is down on the bike. I asume without the jack supporting the motor the bike would bend inward once the supports near the air box are removed?
I jacked the bike up just barely off the ground. I always keep the side stand down just in case it falls over. At least the stand can catch it from falling. I would recommend to keep the stand down. That is correct. Without jacking up the bike you won’t be able the put the air box and the side brackets back in. If you’re just changing the airfilter then you don’t need to Jack up the bike or remove the side brackets.
@@Yololife813 my scout is at 14k I was unsure if I actually need to check the plugs but if I am to do it, I figured might as well just change them. Too much hassle just to check them. And thanks on that info on jacking the motor method. I will do the same.
Did you have fuel in the tank?
Yes and it was full. It just make it heavier
