The fierceness of “I’m not going to cry because we’re not doing this again” slayed me. Also, I make handspun yarn and teach spinning, so if you get a similar line of questioning this year, I love Snyder spindles (technically Turkish but make a beautiful and useful center pull ball for plying), Electric Eel Wheels (shout out to Maurice for trying to make spinning more accessible), and my Ashford Joy (a bit of a splurge) though I’ve also heard great things about the Ashford Kiwi, and also Schacht and Spinolution in wheels. Spinning is indeed a rabbit hole.
as someone who already had chronic pain when I started crochet, compression gloves are a godsend. Fingerless ones work best for me so I can still get the right tension, but they help a lot with hand and wrist pain!
I highly agree with the "invest in your tools" comment. After crocheting for about 5 years with cheap hooks, I invested in a set that I researched to death (Tulip Etimo Rose). It has made a HUGE difference. My hands never hurt from crocheting now and the hooks don't get sticky.
I didn't know you knew about TOFT and Edwards Menagerie! I went there for my work experience and helped make projects for their new veggie book that's coming out!
German here too! I just squealed when i got to that part of the video for the same reason. I hesitated to buy the original because i wanted to learn the terms in german first. Do you have advice what needles i should get, since we have different needles in stock in shops in germany? I dont want to rely on amazon but on local shops, and you seem to have experience :)
I found your book with spiral binding, I love that! It makes it so much easier than trying to juggle your crocheting and book all at once. Keep your wonderfully upbeat and positive self creating! You are an inspiration to the crafting world!
Yessss! Metal Tunisian crochet hooks! I really don't like the feel of plastic hooks. The feel of the friction of the yarn on the plastic is like nails on a chalkboard to me. It keeps me from doing larger projects.
All I want for Christmas is your Tunisian book and to finally launch my crochet business and nicheing down to baby layette as a start. I loveeee it here and thank you for blessing us with your tutelage and crochet love.❤
Das ist wunderbar, Toni! Dein Buch jetzt auf Deutsch, das ist sehr toll. I'm learning German now and I'm tempted to get the German edition to help me practice. Congratulations! (Your emotional reaction talking about that event was too sweet.)
What an amazing prize! I love your videos but most of all I love your smile. It brightens my day and just makes me happy to see it, even before I open the video.
I have metal tunisian, i got them from a lady that ran a thrift store. A whole ton of crochet and quilting items got donated and they were selling these king size bedding bags full of items for $10-12.00 per bag. I got a set of crochet lites , a crochet hook holder. Thread yarn. lots of items were still new in unopened pkgs marked 29cents!. I got a double ended Tunisian metal hook, along with several different sizes. ALL metal! I love them. Also, Knittting needles, and more! For 10 bucks! Try some thrift stores, and local resell shops. You would be surprised how much you find that ppl get rid of, sell, or donate!
Congratulations on your wonderful book being translated into German! Like your family, my eldest sister and her family spent a tour in Germany during the 70s. Her youngest son was born in Heidelberg.
I am married for 45 years but I need a sugar daddy with no expectations and a bottomless pocket. I need yarn, yarn and some more yarn. Also lots of shelves to put the yarn on. Merry Christmas and tummy rubs to all fur babies.
Please review some medal Tunisian crochet hooks if you find any reasonably priced sets! I have a strong aversion to wood, and I don't love the idea of using plastic ones since I'm such a snob lol
Your book is translated into German! This is amazing! I am so happy for you and all your success and all your joy! And yay to your partner for his support of you and your mama for sharing the gift of crochet with you, and to your community of friends and family who are helping to celebrate your successes every day. You deserve it all! You Go!🎉
Your comment about investing in your tools is so true! It reminds me of what Adam Savage says on his UA-cam channel. "Buy the best tool you can afford." This has really been great advice for me, as my tools have had a better use life than had I bought the cheapest ones around. This practice has also taught me what features I am willing to bend on (what my hook is made of, not that important to me) and what features must be present (how that hook is shaped matters to me). And if Janine and Gregory don't get together...sheesh! Wishing all y'all a festive end of the year!
I’m with you for the metal Tunisian crochet hooks Toni! With swivel cables and stop buttons please. And less than $50 each (yikes!). I like my Clover wooden hooks for most things, the Denise hooks are good if there’s no acrylic in the yarn, or if the wool isn’t super washed, but a great metal set would win my crochet heart. I’ll sign the petition any day. Merry Christmas and looking forward to 500K subscribers by the New Year!
Toni, the last thing that I needed was another book. But I so love your sunshine and positive energy, that when you talked about it I just had to go online and buy it. So Thanks for the great book and for just being yourself. Tracy from Idaho
Okay so mom here and I checked my stash and I have what I asked for. Alpaca sweater for myself will be my first New Year project. God's will. 😁😁😁 I hope all of your wishes come true. 😍
On taking breaks, if you're like me, stubborn and prefer to just keep working and working and working, I keep a drink that *needs* refilled. So as I work and take a drink of my water every once in awhile it eventually empties and needs to be refilled. If it takes about half an hour or 45 minutes to empty out a mug of tea or coffee or glass of water you have to get up once in awhile and stretch, walk around and get another drink while you take a break from your work!
I've already ordered sooo many crochet supplies so I don't think I should order anymore, lol. I just want some quiet time TO crochet with my pets for Christmas but I do like the TLYC merch...
Al I want for Christmas is your book and that cut mug with the cats because I’m starting my first Tunisian project because of your videos. I’m so excited bc I’m gifting it to my mother-in-love. And also the heart end to the Tunisian cord😊💜
Hello Miss Toni. I have been crocheting for years but am in a rut. I am so excited I found your channel. I am ready to learn new crochet patterns and skills from you! Thank you for your positive, uplifting vibe. This will be a fun New year 2023 learning from you!
I bought the book when it came out, it was my first craft book ever bought, even though I have 15 years of different fiber-work experience. It is hands-down a beautiful book, and so so so well explained. The patterns are gorgeous, and you deserve all the success!
I love your book! My favorite!! I have you to thank for turning me into a Tunisian crochet addict. My makes are really loved & so I get to share you with many! Bless you sweet one.❤
if you get the clover set of tunisian crochet hooks from michaels, make sure to check the amazon price, it’s usually around 50% off, and in store at michaels, if you show the listing we can price match with an extra 10% added !!
I got the Clover Amour crochet hook set. It is wonderful. I went from pretty terrible to nice stitches just by changing my hook. Thank you for the tip on these wonderful hooks. You made a beginner not give up.
I am looking for a ball winder too!!! After a year with my swift and hand-balling yarn, I am ready. I told myself this year that it let me feel the yarn more and gave me more time touching and squishing the yarn but honestly--- there is a lot of yardage in fingering weight yarn so it gets to be a bit much. Didn't realize so many others would be interested too. 😄 Good luck with the subscriptions and congrats on the book!!!!
Congrats on those subs and the German Edition of the book! I bought your book for my 17th birthday (using a gift card from previous Christmas and Amazon Gift Cards courtesy of Swagbucks) and I just finished my first Tunisian crochet design coming out soon. You are the best teacher I could ever ask for since your 25 tips video turned my crafting around, and merry Christmas!
Love all these suggestions, just want to add my suggestion for subscriptions. Jimmy bean's has great ones! I have done the accessory plan for two years. It's priced right and they give you a knit and crochet pattern. You get to try so many different yarns and the projects are great for those who need a sense of accomplishment in their crafting!!! Also they make great gifts for my yarn friends!
Congratulations on your book being printed in German…that’s wonderful! Thank you for sharing all of these ideas for Christmas wish lists. You always have great recommendations. 💜🙏🏻
I'm totally in love with my Athena Hooks from Bella Coco. Highly recommend if someone is looking for major comfort and less cramping when crocheting. Thanks for the recommendations Toni! Love watching you so much.
Love you Toni..the joy you stand for is awe inspiring…I’m loving your “grannies in training” merch as Grandma Doula it’s a play on fields. How about a bag or iron on to add to my bags…hook on my friend
Large capacity (10-16oz) yarn ball wonder: from Amazon from Olikraft, $60. We just bought the Knit Picks 4oz winder, a tabletop Amish-style swift, stitch markers, row counters, and a few other notions to loan out from my library’s yarn craft club. We were so excited to try them out.
Good evening!! So, Toni, you need to make a line of metal Tunisian crochet hooks!! Who better, than you to make it happen. I am speaking this into existence and I will be the first to buy!! ☺️
I have your book & I love it! I'm so happy you're now getting translated. My tunisian is slowly reaching the standard of my traditional crochet and I'm finally ready to use it to make something out of some beautiful yarn a dear friend hand spun for me. I may even join F/book to post the result.
REPETITIVE MOTION INJURY PREVENTION (that works for me, at least): I had carpal tunnel syndrome many years ago, so I'm always watching out for a reoccurrence when I'm doing anything repeatedly with my hands. I use long Tunisian crochet hooks (NOT the kind with a cord, just a 10" crochet hook) and hold the needle at least half way down when crocheting. [You can find sets of aluminum ones on Amazon from $8 to $20.] I find that I can make tiny motions using a hook in this manner and those motions are exaggerated at the tip of the needle. Think of how a seesaw works, and you will probably get the idea. And for me, anyway, smaller hand movements equal zero symptoms. I'm sure there's a learning curve with this technique if you are used to using regular (short) crochet needles. But it really makes a huge difference. I can (and do!) crochet for hours without any repetitive motion injury symptoms. I highly recommend it to anyone who has trouble with this kind of thing.
For those of you that are interested in spinning, @JillianEve is a wonderful channel. She is so wholesome, passionate about her craft, she knows what she is talking about (as she also has a website selling machines) and she does her research! I can not recommend her enough.
Spinning is fun, but I don't blame you for your reluctance. It is a STEEP slope (says a crocheter with two spinning wheels and entirely too many spindles) that is extremely addictive. For that person, though, if they want a beginner spinning wheel, I'd recommend going to their nearest fiber festival or spinning guild and trying some out! Every wheel is different and if you've never played on one, I'd recommend trying a couple styles before investing in one, especially if you're buying new. That said, if you have no access to wheels to try, I'd go single treadle castle-style wheel or one of those little electric eels if you're learning to spin so you have fewer actions to coordinate. The Woolery has a great selection to pick from and Dreaming Robots is the home of the little electric eel e-spinners.
Good morning Toni just wanted to say I got my to go tumbler crochet is for lovers, omg so pretty love it and it kept my cinnamon tea very hot for hours burnt my tongue once not realizing it was still that hot. Great to go cup. Thank you. ❤️🧶🎄☃️❄️
I would love a light so I can crochet at night in my room without disturbing my husband with the regular light while he is sleeping. Lol. I would love some of your merch. Loving the sweater your wearing.
Just as an FYI, KnitCrate shut down with just minutes of notice a few days ago! Thanks for the lovely video! As a knitter, I’m still in love with all of your videos!
I second Toni's recommendation for the ChiaoGoo T-Spin Interchangeable Tunisian Crochet Hooks. It made all the difference from the long aluminum T-hooks, and I include Tunisian Crochet regularly in my project choices. And definitely get Toni's book. It is the Gateway to Tunisian Crochet Addiction - one of the best kind.
Congratulations on your Book! Soon it will be translated into many different languages! Love your videos I finally picked up my crochet hooks again and have been creating like mad!
"All I want for Christmas is TLYC merch!"
YESSSSS!!!!!
Saaaaame!
Same
You should be very proud of yourself Miss Toni……you are a great example of a person who works hard to fulfill her dreams!

I know this wish won't happen, but I wish a day with Toni.
I think we all want that to happen
Ahh yes, i agree. Wouldn't it be awesome to spend a day with Ms. Toni. Maybe just a few friends. Hot tea, coffee, cocoa, or a glass of prosecco
Das ist wunderbar, Toni! Dein Buch jetzt auf Deutsch, das ist sehr toll. I'm learning German now and I'm tempted to get the German edition to help me practice. Congratulations! (Your emotional reaction talking about that event was too sweet.)
I recommend you all the time to people new to Tunisian crochet. Can’t say enough good things about you!!
Wow that’s an awesome 500 K give a way !
Thank you for your generosity ❤️
Your smile is contagious and bright!

You have a beautiful soul. I love you Toni YAAASSSSS!!!
Toni, the last thing that I needed was another book. But I so love your sunshine and positive energy, that when you talked about it I just had to go online and buy it. So Thanks for the great book and for just being yourself. Tracy from Idaho
Love the granny square sweat shirt.
Okay so mom here and I checked my stash and I have what I asked for. Alpaca sweater for myself will be my first New Year project. God's will. 😁😁😁 I hope all of your wishes come true. 😍
I agree. I have been searching for metal interchangeable Tunisian crochet hooks for a while.
Happy Birthday to the book baby and Congratulations on the ratings!!!!!!!!

Got your book from the library and fell in love with it! Now it's on my wish list
Amen on the metal Tunisian hooks! Even super smooth wood with a thumb rest, slightly pointy head, and swivel cords would make me happy.
Love love love your spirit plan to watch more of your channel .
The coloured crochet hooks are great. The thick handle is good for arthritic hands
Hello Miss Toni. I have been crocheting for years but am in a rut. I am so excited I found your channel. I am ready to learn new crochet patterns and skills from you! Thank you for your positive, uplifting vibe. This will be a fun New year 2023 learning from you!

Hells yes! If Janine and Gregory don’t get together soon I’m going to lose my mind. The anticipation is delicious!

I got the Clover Amour crochet hook set. It is wonderful. I went from pretty terrible to nice stitches just by changing my hook. Thank you for the tip on these wonderful hooks. You made a beginner not give up.
Girl. I don’t know how I didn’t know you had merch!!! Also, totally felt the “I’m not gonna cry.” Part.
Nelsonwood Crochet hooks are fantastic. Expensive but worth every penny.
Jamaica is warm all year round Toni. You're welcome to come for your vacay 😊
Oh my God SAAAAME! I THOUGHT SOMETHING BIG WAS GOING TO HAPPEN ON THAT LATEST EPISODE! It's my favorite show.

I'm totally in love with my Athena Hooks from Bella Coco. Highly recommend if someone is looking for major comfort and less cramping when crocheting. Thanks for the recommendations Toni! Love watching you so much.

Yes!!!! Metall tunesian crochet hooks I m on your side! I m looking also for it. It was possible in the 1980 to get those.
This video is so fun! I LOVED watching your curls bounce around as you got excited 😊
If anyone is interested, Amazon has the Clover Amour set for $40 right now. I received mine yesterday, and I’m in love.
Nice little e-spinner is the Electric Eel Wheel Nano is also less than $150.
Congrats on the German translation!
You are amazing!
Yes, metal Tunisian hooks! The frustration is almost enough to make me consider the effort (and cost!) of a metal lathe and learning to turn my own.
It is always a great pleasure to spend some time with you. You never disappoint. Keep up the good works . Have a healthy holidays.
Good evening!! So, Toni, you need to make a line of metal Tunisian crochet hooks!! Who better, than you to make it happen. I am speaking this into existence and I will be the first to buy!! ☺️
Oh my goodness! What a generous giveaway!
I love your cheery personality Toni! I sometimes come here just for the sheer joy of hearing your voice 😊☺️👍
I just LOVE you ❤ Toni, you are great !!
Your hair… You look Stunning. Merry Christmas, Toni.(love from Japan)
My yarn bowl is a deep cerial bowl with a bulldog clip attached to the rim then feed the yarn through the clip's handles
Thank you so much for your videos! Your joy is so infectious and your content is excellent. I thoroughly enjoy each and every one of your videos.
Congratulations Toni!!! So glad you've had such an eventful and successful and loving 2022!
For those of you that are interested in spinning, @JillianEve is a wonderful channel. She is so wholesome, passionate about her craft, she knows what she is talking about (as she also has a website selling machines) and she does her research! I can not recommend her enough.
Oh no! Just gearing about BQueen. We had a fire in 2000 so totally get it. Home they’re getting back on their feet.
such a great video, who knew i wanted so much stuff! really appreciate your expertise, and am glad you're a presence here on youtube
I found your channel and I love it!!! I love yarn I love crochet. And I love you enthusiasm! You are amazing!❤️❤️thank you.
So excited for the raffle, but excited for that sweatshirt.
Spinning is fun, but I don't blame you for your reluctance. It is a STEEP slope (says a crocheter with two spinning wheels and entirely too many spindles) that is extremely addictive.

Thank you. ❤️🧶🎄☃️❄️
I just ordered your book as my early Christmas gift to myself! Thank you for helping me fall in love with crochet again 💗
I would love a TLYC merch mug! Oh, and some more yarn!
Congratulations on your new book in German. My wish list is your merch, a large yarn winder and more yarn. One can never have enough yarn.
Congratulations on your Book! Soon it will be translated into many different languages! Love your videos I finally picked up my crochet hooks again and have been creating like mad!
I just received my Sticker Mug yesterday and I LOVE IT!! You're an inspiration, Toni!!
