The cedar balls are to protect your yarn like a mothball, it's a natural bug deterrent, they're also made of camphor wood
The advent calendar is a lovely idea and I appreciated seeing what came in the sacks. I'm looking forward to seeing what you make in the lead-up to Christmas

Almost certainly what the cedar balls are for but also folks should be cautious about using them and other deterrent products with oil in them. The oils in cedar can easily transfer to the yarn of your projects and cause damage. Make sure y'all keep a barrier/distance between your cedar and your beautiful projects

I quite like the lack of winter colours as Christmas is in summer in Australia haha!
Don't get me wrong, a lot of stores will still sell winter-y themed Christmas merchandise, but I find it kind of funny seeing people in shirts with snow/winter prints when we're realistically all sweating in the heat 😂
@@madz-mac lol! That would be funny! I’m in the New York area in the US so we always have cold weather at Christmas.
Hobbii has customers worldwide, it’s not winter everywhere at the same time.

Ah ok I have never heard of this... they don't give you the pattern? How odd! I guess you'll find out the pattern closer to December? What kinds of things do they usually have you making? I've seen other advents for crochet and it's a lot of lady's garments (which I have no use for as a man, haha).

There is a blog post about it on the Hobbii website. It does not say which week is which but there is a tea towel, a tote bag. a hat, and a shawl... I got my kit, too and can't wait!

Loved your unboxing, too bad the exchange rate to AUD is so poor. Those wooden balls don’t go in the wash, they are to put in your drawers or wardrobe to keep away the moths and silverfish.

I got the knitting version. The goodies are similar, but in a different order. The yarns are different and in different colors. I'm looking forward to seeing the projects also!

Thanks for the video! I was tempted to buy the advent calendar, but the colours aren't really to my taste. I actually have most of those yarns in different colours. So maybe when they release the patterns, I might make them.

I definitely will. It's such a big risk spending so much on a mystery item. I love the mystery bags, but the advent calendar and MALs are too expensive IMO.

I was debating whether or not to buy it so thank you for the reveal. I don't think its value for the money. As I totalled it all you hardly save anything at all. One thing that really annoys me about Hobbii is their insistans of always including a pair of scissors - we all have multiple pairs already.

Pretty sure the cedar balls are to put in where you store your yarn to keep out the critters that would eat up your wool

I was thinking about ordering it and while I love the goodies and the types of yarn… the colors just are not for me at all, sad really. I am more into dark earthy colors and never wear pastels so… yeah, not this year alas….

I'm surprised it came so quick. Thank you for sharing the unboxing. I saw on the website that Toni Lipsey was the designer for the advent calendar and it showed an outline of each week's project. Only 1 of the projects intrigued me - I think it was week 2. But the yarn is the real draw here. And the stitch markers. I used last year's stitch markers as earrings for a day. It worked and they were cute 😊
