Absolutely fabulous channel. Great for DIYers sch as myself. I'm 79 and with not a lot of available cash so your series on carpeting stairs was of great use to me. 3 floors with 6 half landings and two sets of winders later all done (apart from the bottom bullnose step which I will complete tomorrow). Bought all I needed online including carpet, underlay and tools and saved £700! Thank you so much! Regards for the future and a Merry Christmas to all of you! Dave F.👍👍👍
As a floorlayer on 9 years I can honestly say I’ve never touched traditional carpet or any staircases in carpet , this video helped me complete a job I was concerned I couldn’t finish! Thanks alot
Thanks for an excellent video and being brilliantly informative. I saw your videos 10 months ago. They provided great instruction on how to carpet a stair case. I started my staircase this weekend. Thanks to your many vids on carpet laying the results I have achieved are very good. That is thanks to you guys. Keep up the great work and humour.
Fantastic video... just helped me so much. We have laminate flooring... i was putting carpet on the steps and laminate on the risers.... but it looked awful on the bull nose. So after watching this video I gave it a go and I am very happy with the results... no perfect but the family will never notice. Thanks alot for the help.
Thank you for showing how to do this. Came across your video by accident, but need to do this on my step. Very good way of explaining the way to fit that step. I did it not perfect but will do. Thank you again.
You guys are awesome This video helped me a lot, as does most of your videos, I’ve never carpeted stairs before only the rest of the house lol,big up the home improvement dudes 🤟
Must admit, as an ex fitter who started 40 years ago, this way is very neat, when I was taught there was no glue or staples, all inch roundhead wood pins, 👍🏻
Hello from S. California, Im from Mexico and currently living in the USA got involve into the restoration industry. I appreciate you guys sharing the knowledge of proper carpet installation. I subscribed and totally liked this video, thank you truly; Ricardo Provincia Salazar, IICRC certified member.
I’ve been in the trade for a long time. You can teach an old dog new tricks. I do all my bullnoses like this now. Works great specially in new builds with nosings not deep enough to allow you to cut net and fit cap and band 👍
Wicked chanel lads 👍👍 I'm a fitter myself and just getting back into things. What should I be charging per metre to fit carpet now days? Also fitting prices on other materials would massively help me out. Also fit Domestic vinyl. Commercial vinyl Lvt
You appeared on my FB feed. No idea why I am watching this but it's fascinating and addictive. You made an excellent job. How long did you have to train for to be able to do this so well?
Well just generally watching diy and 10 minutes in this was a subscribe the banta is class and you just can't stop watching turned into a Netflix binge watch great job guys 👍 professional job done with English Class 😂😁😁😁😁
This exactly how basement steps are only 5 steps before the bottom are also exposed on the sides. Trying to convince my wife to just get rid of the carpet stairs but she won’t budge. I feel I can do the floor myself but these curved steps are another issue
Entertaining and fun videos. Found your channel and hade to see if you in UK, works in the same way we do in Sweden. Defenetlly gona keep watching your videos. 👌👍
The carpet on the floor. Do you put gripper on the floor at the start of the steps. Do you have to cut up a gripper on the floor so you can shape it to the step.
Just had our staircase re-carpeted and noticed each step had a ‘nose’ and wanted carpet wrapped around each one. Carpet fitter wasn’t too happy but did it for us for £70 extra on top of regular fitting price (from Tapi Carpets in the UK). It looks fantastic! He told us it’s called Hollywood style and yes, popular in the US but not in the UK. We love our new stair carpet!
33 year years myself mate. My dad who taught me back in the day, said you never wear knee pads , there for wimps and you need to wear your cartlage in and flatten your knee caps.. Over 10 years I did that, until snickers pants came around.. The absolute bastard was so full of it...😂 50 odd now and I'm walking like John Wayne too mate.. But I have a pair of pro knees that help take the strain.. Keep the faith brother's..😎🤟
That pad needs cut to the edge of nose and should be done in 2 pieces not 1... this is a hack job...besides the stairs don't match...more problems with this video...learn the proper way bro... this is all wrongfrom the word go..
Your doing it all wrong mate, , split it as yiu go around the nose and off you want go square from riser up , also cut straight to your right don’t curve up , and napping shears are for joins😂

Quick question. I see you cap and banded the bottom step. Why not do the same to the rest of them so they all match?
Grrat job lads and great tutorial 👍

What size staples do you use
We use 18-22mm 👍🏻
Glad I have seen this because I'm doing my stairs so this will help me alot
Good luck 😁
@@homeimprovements cheers
Out of curiosity why not do every step with the wrapped bulllnose look instead of waterfall??
Just common practise in the uk not sure why 😊
@@homeimprovements in Canada we rarely do waterfall unless steps have no bull nose... or we add a nose
Perfect.
Good job shapeing carpet & pining until was fitted
Thank you 👍🏻
This video helped a lot, thanks!
I was having a mare until i watched it.

Nice one, thanks for reply mate.
All helps 👍👍
Looks good. Best way for me is do the kick plate separate than the tread.
What size staples are used for the nose with the staple gun? Thanks.
We use around 22mm
@@homeimprovements 22mm? Quite big staples then. I would have thought that 12mm would have been sufficient. Thanks.

Thanks we appreciate it and few years on the tools I’d say before you can go off on your own 😊😊😊
Nice job but it's quicker to just cap and band it you've got a nice lip to play with on this job
Do you use 9/16ths 1/4 staples
Uk here bud we use 30mm 😊

Thanks for your comment, yes put gripper on the floor. We will try and get a video done to cover this for you
Very neat job, you must have worked with carpet fitters if you are not one.
8:33 hes enjoying the smell xD
Excelente. Excelentíssimo.
When you split the riser and put the knife under the corner of the nose just cut straight and it wraps around perfect
Thank you for your helpful advice 😊
💯🔥🔥
Hi guys
What size staples do you use and do the staples go into the top part of the stair? The tread?
we are using to 18 mm staple 🙌🙌
You should do the bullnose first and stretch away before finishing the step.
I commented too soon.......you did the bullnose wrong aswell. 🤦♂️💩💩💩
This method is completely fine, yes there is many method to a bullnose
Come on there is many methods
Now how do you do it in two pieces.
meu Boa noite para o mestre da instalação de piso de laminados de madeira já coloquei muitas escada de carpe piso de borracha e de madeira

Correct and yep standard to charge as it’s more time consuming 😊😊
❤❤❤❤👍👍👍
Thanks 😊
Or you can cap it and band it! Tread first then a one piece band for the riser! 10min most!
This is much faster, you have to bare in mind you have to talk a lot
Great information, use of a tripod would prevent irritating cameraman interference.
Thanks for you advice 👍🏻
it wasn't an interference. I liked it.
Lads what the name of tha carpet ?
Sorry mate this was a looooong time ago now I couldn’t tell you 😊🙈 looks to be a valley range tho from eye
@@homeimprovements no wrys brother i found similar called sophistication supreme colour 90 pewter 😉👍👊

Agreed mate we invested in some pads now 🙌🙌
Id say 95% of carpet fitters either havnt a clue how to do this or just cut corners and do botch job. Job well done that
Just watched your video of doing a bull nose, it made me laugh as a carpet fitter myself for 40 years plus I could of stitched two in less time!!
Congratulations
Watch yer head on the door frame.
❤
Why don't you hand sew it so you can keep the same look as the rest of stair case
mark the bullnose with a pencil. screw the stair off and use the actual stair as your template. Saves all the faffing around.
Not sure why I'm watching as I live in a bungalow.
🤣👌🏼
To think carpet fitters are on about £3 m2. That bullnose only cost about £1.50 to be fitted....
£5 plus these days but stairs are not done to the m2 set price £150 too much work and time 😊👌🏼
@@homeimprovements good money then, how long does the average staircase take to do?
@@Fake-moon-landing. The average staircase is 2-3 hours, depending on the person👍
$9.15/sq for me and then id charge about 25 for the bullnose as well
can i donate you some shorts please,so you don't have to cut down your jeans
It looks great! But I don’t think carpet in a hallway will last long.
