*Yes, this isn't technically a beer. It's more of a spruce wine, but spruce beer is a historical term and this is close to that historical recipe, so enjoy!
@@1_galax_1 October 7th plus 21 days is the 28th.. it's three weeks already, but the vid said about 2 weeks, so that's why I asked. But I don't mind waiting a little longer, either.
@@GrayCoke208 in the question about gravity he says he "waited three weeks before bottling it" so I think this was filmed a while ago and just recently posted... I wasn't trying to rush anyone, just trying to give a kind reminder to him to post the results.
Honestly, I didn't measure the gravity at any point. The recipe didn't really call for it, so I just bottled after a few weeks. Seemed to work fine lol
I have a few questions 1. I’d love an update 2. What’s the Abv 3. Can I add juniper berries I love your videos and I hope to do stuff like this some day!
Isn't this just "spruce flavoured brown sugar alcohol"? Like if you added honey instead of brown sugar it'd be adequate to call this "spruce mead" but this stuff by definition isn't beer.
I don't like seeing alcohol on these platforms. People think it's acceptable but it's super toxic as well as gives me ptsd from an abusive alcoholic mother
I've been looking for spruce beer or spruce related item to drink I can never find it I went insane for weeks looking for it just to find out spruce does not grow in Texas,. THEY GROW EVERYWHERE BUT TEXAS
Hi, Justin: Too obvious questions: one, does it make nice vinegar if you then go ahead and let it go through aerobic process? And two, do you have a nice recipe that makes fermented, vitamin C rich soft drinks no alcohol, please? Sort of like ginger ale or root beer? Of course I could go right ahead and try it myself, but I don’t wanna waste lots of nice spruce tips, if somebody Already knows the answer and might be willing to tell me. :)
worth noting that in many regions, particularly north east US, there are a number of trees similar to spruce that would be unpleasant or potentially toxic.
Me too… It’s almost like I instinctively want to pop one in my mouth while I hike. I find them very refreshing and delicious and they haven’t made me sick. I’m always worried about whether or not I’m identifying a pine correctly. I just picked up a bunch of them today and I’d like to make some tea and possibly even steam some w/ a little butter and salt. I’m a bit nervous but I’m pretty sure I have the right Pine..,

Are we not gonna talk about the beautiful map in the back that he most definitely made

You posted this one on my birthday... Perfect day to really drink! Can I see the result now? Or is it too soon....
I’m waiting for that as well
It takes 2-3 weeks to ferment sooo…just a tad too soon

What's the starting gravity suppose to be when going by your recipe?

Earth gravity, the gravity of Uranus doesn't work well.
Is it weird that I half expected for every item in his house to be hand made like the funnel and jar
I was looking for this! I legit thought the same-
I was waiting for you to say "Oh wait, I need a spoon to stir the spruce tips...."
Zombie deer with a huge infection on his side.
is it really? i noticed that too and I was wondering if it was some sort of fungus.
Thank you for the asterisk next to beer, I can share this wonderful recipe with my brewer husband without a tirade on the lack of hops and malt 😂
Dog check. Hiking check. Crafty check. Now foraging and home crafted goods! You are a god among lesser men.
i love your videos man. came for your wood carving stuff, stayed for the actually very pleasant food related content
I think I accidentally might have satanized my equipment rather than sanitise..
I need an update
i really like the smell of spruce/pine for some reason
What does this taste like? Still like the spruce when it’s done? Tbf I dunno what spruce tastes like but I imagine it’s kinda pine tasting? 😂🤷♀️
Spruce tastes like pine with lemon.
@@user-mc5vy2vk5n ahhh thank you! 🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘
Jesus that landscape is just beautiful
I did this a few years back... grabbed the wrong yeast (champagne) and crap was that devil dry
It sounds good as an air freshener, but I don't know about a beverage.
So…… just to double check…… This would be considered a non-alcoholic drink…… right?
I have a few questions
1. I’d love an update
2. What’s the Abv
3. Can I add juniper berries

This isn't a beer. It is a sugar wine ...
Time to drink before 21 👌🥱
It has been two weeks any updates on the beer
WHERE DO YOU LIVE MY GUY ! THAT VIEW IS BEAUTIFUL
IM WONDERING THE SAME IM SO JEALOUS
Does it contain alcohol
You bet it does. Yeast basically does nothing but eat sugar and turn it into alcohol...
Swap in honey for brown sugar, skip the yeast, and you got the winter's best hot toddie mix.🤤
Any updates?

I work at a brewery, and imma totally see if we can try this!
No not any spruce will do it. Don't use Yew Tree spruce, because this tree is venomous.
I thought those were pine needles at first ngl
Deer
You can also make a delicious syrup out of those spruce tips. It's great for sore throats.

Why not use shears to get spruce leaves? Only two iron is what you need for shears!
My brain thinks your trying to say root beer

Wtf is this?! This isn’t spruce beer! No grains were used. No hops were used. This is just spruce flavored hard lemonade.
if you dont add the yeast you'll get a good tea that has a lot of vitamin C
It’s been 2-3 weeks I want to see how this turns out! Also love the map and can’t wait to see that completed as well!!
nice great one

That's actually more of a wine
That deer of yours..... it's a tumor... ITS NOT A TOOMA!
That's a really cool map in the background.

Uh. Probably not the best idea to say any. I don’t think white spruce would be the best idea for it local names.
As a germanic german I am conflicted. Neat idea, sounds like it'll taste great, but it's not beer...
Canyou translate ounces and cups to the SI to comply with the rest of the world, please?
Yeah, there’s no way in hell I’d drink that. Sap from evergreen trees tastes horrible. I don’t care if it’s fermented or not.

I've heard of spruce beer I thought it was fermented spruce sap. This is way easier.
Why did I think sprouts when I first read this ? Like Brussels sprouts ?
Take this as you will, but you look like alternate universe male Milli Bobby Brown. In a cool way, not an insult way.
Is blue spruce acceptable? Just don't want to poison myself

Brown sugar?
Gotta have something for the yeast to eat.
