I’m not vegan but if you want to be, more power to you. I worked in a slaughterhouse and even ran my own for a while so I am very intimate with the process of harvesting meat from animals like cows, chickens, and pigs. Fish I’m not super familiar with so I can’t really speak on those but I will say that if you eat meat support your local farmers and their animals are usually much more well taken care of and live a much better life than factory farm animals. Factory farm cows almost always had some sort of abrasions or injury that was never treated due to poor conditions so the section of meat had to be discarded. Same with pigs but it was much less noticeable due to the hardy nature of pigs. Chickens were a whole other story. If they were dead when they arrived we had to discard them. We didn’t know how long they had been dead for and meat that’s been dead longer than necessary may be tainted or foul so you can’t serve it. If you can please try to support local farms as their animals are almost always very healthy and live much happier lives.
I agree as a vegetarian with a milk allergy, i have my own chickens for the eggs, go to the farmers for the products because then they'll get the money they deserve instead of getting drained by supermarkets and if my non vegetarian boyfriend wants meat...

As an Australian, kangaroo meat is something you can find occasionally sold in supermarkets, or served in restaurants. Foreigners, even some Australians, find it super weird.
I don't know why.
I've only tried it once, it's not as commercialised as other common meats here, but it's actually quite good.
It surrounds us so it's natural that we'd eat it, and it was something Aboriginal and Torres strait Australians ate before the British showed up.
I don't know why some find it weird.
Especially foreigners, the ones who don't even live here and probably aren't going to even see it in their lifetime.
I'm not vegan or vegetarian fyi, I have a few health issues along with issues eating certain food due to paranoia for getting sick and autism making certain textures unbearable, so cutting meat out of my diet would leave my diet super limited lol.

Looks delicious! Only gripe I have with calling things "vegan meat", "vegan tuna" or "vegan burgers" et.c. is the lack of information of the ingredients. My stomach can't handle legumes, and unfortunately a lot of vegan products are made with those. One of the biggest reasons why I have to choose non-vegan options. Thanks for showing an alternative (the jackfruit) for the vegan dish though! I will definitely be trying that!
While I can't personally go vegan for medical reasons, I think that every person is different. If being vegan is the best thing for you, then that's great. I'm glad you've found an enjoyable way to nourish yourself
You can go vegan, “medical reasons” is bs
@@menelikm9779 actually no. Between a dietary sensitivity that cuts out about 80% of veggies and 90% of fruit as well as most herbs/spices, sensory issues from autism, executive functioning issues from ADHD and my body just not wanting to store nutrients like iron despite eating a lot of iron-rich foods it's just not for me. I can't limit my diet any further because I'm already not getting what I'm supposed to be getting and relying on the one specific brand of supplements I can use
@@samanthathorne3264 Same here, autoimmune issues cause my body to not have the gut biome to digest most plant matter. Anything like processed flour, nuts, grains, oats, even potatoes and starchy veggies all make me feel like death because to my body, it's not even food. I'll keep eating meat and acidic fruits and veggies, thanks. I literally break out in scale patches and grow cysts all over from trying to eat vegan or vegetarian alone.
I'm also not white anglo-saxon genetically, so I can't digest carbs as well as most white people or european descent.
@@ANMS.cyberpunk for me it's a chemical called salicylate. It's basically a pesticide plants grow in varying amounts. Certain plants I can eat in moderation, others I really can't eat. Symptoms range from flu-like symptoms to my vision entirely going black, to hallucinations or delusions.
Organic is worse for me because without the help of other pesticides, they make more salicylates. It also affects what I put on my body too. Soaps, shampoos, lotions, makeup, etc. Most plant extracts in those products aren't safe and make my skin feel like its burning. Basically any product claiming to be "natural" can be a problem.
My mom and I spent 16 years trying to figure this out. She would cook me a healthy meal and feel like she was poisoning me. By the time we had an answer I had hospitalized myself because I was too anxious and paranoid to leave my bedroom for weeks.
Oh I'm also part indigenous and I'm not able to smell/eat/touch any of my traditional healing medicines because they're all plants! I have to use gloves to touch tobacco, and a specialized mask that filters odors and a well ventilated area to be near any form of smudge. If we were living in an age without modern medicine, I would just keep getting sicker and sicker. The combination of an unsafe diet and the plants they would use to heal me would just keep building up in my system and I'd just get worse
There is literally no way for me to attempt to be vegan or even vegetarian in a way that isn't essentially poisoning myself again. Veganism is only a good lifestyle if it's healthy and sustainable for you. I have no problem with veganism in general. I just can't do it myself. All I ask is people give my diet the same respect and courtesy that I give theirs. After what I've been through I've learned not to judge people for what they eat because everyone needs to follow their own version of nutrition
do you need certain vitamins or something because i cant think of a medical reason why you couldn't go vegan im just generally curious (also i know this is old but im still curious)
I just care if stuff tastes good, vegan or non I don’t have preference as long as the flavor is there.
I am vegetarian since I am nine and I want to get vegan but I’m 13 and vegetarian food is easier for the rest of my family to implement into their diet of eating meat so it’s kind of a compromise cause most of my family members don’t like vegetables and yeah but when I’m 18 and I moved somewhere else in Germany or to a completely different place ill definitely be vegan

Most vegans/vegetarians are like this. Dont get me wrong there are agressive unhinged vegans who get offened when a person eats meat, but most uf us are the chilling minority. Sadly these loud minorities of annoying vegan karens are the reason many people get offended and counterreact by also being karens, but saying "well now im eating 3 pounds of steak". @@lh1411boy I love vegan food, just not when it imitates meat or other products they're not supposed to be eating. I'd have more respect for them if they didn't act like they're still eating meat via imitation bc I thought vegans didn't want any of that stuff bc it makes animals suffer. @@chaoscreature4353 I can understand your opinion from the aspect of eating healthy, but my reason was to not hurt animals. So to eat meat without the pain, meatrecreating products are pretty cool, because I can still enjoy the "taste". But I agree if you are doing it to eat more healthy it makes no sense. But I wouldnt call it hyprocritical.
After bonding with a cute baby calf at this farm in PA when i was 8 and then immediately enjoying burgers right after, I truly realized I'm perfectly fine with eating animals

Hell, i use dairy free milk on a daily basis, and it's nice to not hurt my stomach
The cognitive dissonance of "animals are friends" and the marketing of vegan products is really one of the most amazing phenomenon ever
Even if not because of marketing, the idea of being told to be kind to animals, but also growing up on farms where animals needed to be killed to get their meat.... you question it as a kid, but never as an adult
Killing and eating animals and being kind to animals are not mutually exclusive.
I can be an advocate for no deforestation while also being okay with deforestation to grow crops like soy and wheat.
yeah I'm sure there's so much cognitive dissonance in the fact that people have the animals who help them survive and live and streamline basic tasks, and the animals who are eaten
Best part is animals eat animals. We are animals, vegans just want some holier than thou position where they think humanity is above eating animals.
@@greenjp779 i eat meat but i still find it hilarious when people state that there are ‘humane’ ways to kill an animal, it’s like people calling it that to make themselves look and feel better about eating animals… no, it’s not humane to kill, there are preferable ways that doesn’t include elongated suffering but that doesn’t make it humane
@GreenJP I'm definitely not confused, I'm very aware of the issue of accessibility of vegan foods- whether for cost, convenience, or health. However, there are a lot of people as well who do not have those hurdles who continue to eat meat without regard for animals or the environment, and THAT'S where it's cognitive dissonance. Or the fact that if people have even a few options to try to have occasional meals that exclude animal products, they won't do it. Maybe consider that as well, it's always good to make even a little bit of effort and it deserves to be celebrated
Your amazing dude really! It’s such a nice thing your doing here and I’m sure its been really eye opening and inspiring to many people god bless you throughout your day
Bottomline, you can eat without killing animals and have a positive impact in the world. Had plenty of meat eaters troll me on here and tell me they are going to eat veal because of my comments. People are really broken.
Hundreds of thousands of animals are eaten by other animals daily, why do humans have to be any different? We are animals as well. I don’t care what you eat, but I don’t like being called a “murderer and a psychopath” when nothing that I’m doing is fundamentally different from wolves or lions. Some animals even hunt purely for fun/sport, humans aren’t somehow morally obligated to stray from the commonality of nature.
@@The-Caged-King 1. I didnt call you a murderer or a psycopath. 2. Humans are far more intelligent than animals. Most societies have evolved past the point of needing to eat animals to survive. I feel we are resonsible to use our intelligence accordingly and do things animals that are much dumber than us cannot.

@@alwayshangrygirl463 Still less than those that died for the beans that were fed to cows to THEN feed humans. It is not possible to completely remove pain and suffering from the equation, but to decrease it is feasible. And I honestly don't understand how people argue with that, like it is "not enough". Doing something, even a little, is better than doing nothing at all and the world would be a much better place if more people lived by that.

Think about it this way. If you catch a rat in your house, and you release it into the woods, something else is gonna kill it anyway. Veganism makes no sense because if you "save" the animals, they're gonna get killed much more brutally by something else.

I don't see why we have to dictate what others eat. If you like vegan food better, enjoy it. If not, then don't bash others for it. Seeing others enjoying food no matter what it is makes me feel happy, so seeing cooking channels explaining why they make certain foods is one of those little joys in life I love experiencing.
It's not hard to understand, it's not about what you eat but WHO you eat. I'll say to you don't "dictate" if you see someone hurting a dog because it's their "personal choice" right? it's simple, respect the life of non human animals because they are not something but someone and they are not property of anyone to exploit.
@Germs Camacho What about plants they're alive too😂
@@sarahj7283 By your logic cutting the grass, and slicing the throat of an animal it's comparable? very intelligent.
@@germscamacho8362 Thats' if you consider animals being fully aware of everything in the same way as humans. If you want to eat vegan, thats perfectly okay if you think that way and see it that way, but don't be too quick to judge those who see things differently from you. As of right now, not everyone on the planet is able to sufficiently choose a vegan diet. There are a PLETHORA of reasons as to why lots of people don't make the change and it simply can't just be chalked up to stubbornness or lack of desire. Arguing with someone in an aggressive manner won't get you anywhere near convincing them to join you in your choices. It actually does quite the opposite. Being aggressive will just push people away. Sitting down with people and giving them the pros and cons and explaining in a calm manner why you believe what you believe makes people respect you and see how you feel and think. It gives them a better opportunity to even evaluate their beliefs and if their actions are matching their thoughts and opinions. Being a douche and calling people unintelligent for raising a pretty decent counterpoint to your thought process and then immediately being angry just makes people laugh at you for reacting emotionally too fast. Instead, you counteract with why there's a difference between plant and animal sentience in your opinion/facts, etc... There's a reason why lots of people place a stigma on vegans that give them a bad rap and you're the indicator of that.
