I mashed mine down with a fork then rolled them into balls as I don’t have a blender and it’s such a good idea. I also used spinach instead of kale. Yes you can just reheat the rice and eat as it is but this is a perfect way to do something different and it doesn’t take long at all. Thank you! 🤩 (For those whose use Celsius like me and not Fahrenheit, I put mine in at 210c for 20 minutes)

Traditionally to make a paste with rice or sticky rice we would grind it in a large mortar and pestle. A blender is a modern way to accomplish the same thing, as is a food processor. Are asians not allowed to use modern tools in cooking?

as a south asian, this is very similar to Pakoray except we usually make it with chickpea flour or blended lentils…. using leftover rice is very innovative!

As an Asian person, this had me conflicted. In my country, if you had leftover rice, you make fried rice and throw in veggies, eggs and other form of protein like spam, hotdogs or even other leftover dish. But not gonna lie, the result looks good that I'm even thinking about making it 😅

Whenever I have leftover rice, I mix it with flour, milk, eggs, spices, raisins and sugar and fry them in oil like pancakes. My mom always called them rice cookies.

@@ebirch90 It depends on the recipe. Using dry rice flour vs rice can make a difference. Like how most korean rice cake recipes will use freshly steamed rice instead of using dry rice flour. It’s still possible to use it but it can change the overall texture. You also need to take into consideration the type of rice since some are stickier than others.

We make a somewhat similar version of it in India. It's called "phoolauri" . We use leftover rice mixed with spices and dry it out in the sun . 💜

Whenever I have leftover rice, I mix it with flour, milk, eggs, spices, raisins and sugar and fry them in oil like pancakes.
My mom always called them rice cookies.

@@im_no1special_except2my_father spices like you would use for baking. Vanilla, cinnamon, rum aroma, a pinch of salt.
And I always use a neutral oil, like canola.

@@ebirch90 It depends on the recipe. Using dry rice flour vs rice can make a difference. Like how most korean rice cake recipes will use freshly steamed rice instead of using dry rice flour. It’s still possible to use it but it can change the overall texture. You also need to take into consideration the type of rice since some are stickier than others.
Tried this today and this is probably one of the best thing I've ever had!! The only con is that they stuck to the baking tray even after I brushed it with oil

@@vanilla_kissnot sure about that but i used a small blender used for spice grinding so, maybe a food processor should work
