The Daimler Double-Six Coupe is indeed something very special. And rare. It is not a Jaguar, and it would be unwise to mention as such to any Daimler owner.
As part of our H&L Enthusiast Series, we share the stories of the owners, the cars, and what makes them so special and worthy to be cherished and preserved as a time capsule and glimpse into the world that was.

My old man had an old P reg Daimler sovereign, British racing green with the two fuel tanks and walnut and mahogany wooden interiors... watching your videos just brings it all back - there is nothing like cars... they become family, like pets... and yours is a real, real beauty! Beautiful car. The prettiest of all XJs ever built. The double reservoir explained: as a 90 liter reservoir was needed for this thirsty cat, but with the sloping boot and the huge spare wheel that could not be placed vertically, the latter was put lying horizontally. Then there was no more space for a single 90 liter reservoir, so it was split in two 45 liter reservoirs. Apparently it was complicated to make them communicate so you have a switchover valve and two filler caps. I own a series 3 XJ12. Thanks a lot for this nice video !

No, no, no... it’s so that when one fuel tank inevitably rusts through, you’ve still got the other! 😂🏴 think of it more as a spare fuel tank - only the right hand side one worked on my old man’s Daimler sovereign, he used to say ‘put in the right one, won’t you’ - he also used to let me change gears... it had an overdrive button on the gear knob...

The classiest machine ever made. I own a very good Series 3 V12. Nothing else I’ve ever driven makes me feel like these do.
Drives like a modern car despite its age, and highly competent on the highways. The pencil thin steering wheel feels special.

Nice example there! I would put normal gas in one tank and supreme gas in the other. Normal driving = cheap gas. Need to go? = Switch to the higher-octane gas.
And there would be a hidden button for NOS as usual ☺️
Its a XJ12 Daimler version of a Jaguar made by Jaguar cars .

hey it's a jag with a better chrome grill ....I actually worked with them new Daimler franchise....they are too low geared by todays standards, suffer from side window noise at speed, rot the inner & outer sills due to poor internal drain design & rot between the vinyl roof & it's painted surface due to. condensation/sweat
