Wonderful video. I lived in Iran in the mid-1960's and graduated from the Tehran American School (Madreseh Amrikai). I have such wonderful memories - the country, the culture, and the people. Thank you for the video...
+Sam LSD You sound jealous there....from my perspective being in London..Persian women are stunning especially the green eyed ones damn!!!...i put Persian women up there with Brazilian Venezuelan Swedish Argentinian Lebanese and Syrian.
Gelareh. Thank you so much for introducing Iranian culinary culture to the world. I have only just discovered your channel. I have learned so much. Merci.❤
lol, I've been in Iran for 24 years and I have never eaten Caviar, nor have I seen it in any menu. I doubt you can find it easily. And I guess 99% of Iranians have never tried it just like me. It's absolutely not a traditional and popular dish in Iran. It would be more popular if it was cheaper though.
+kianoosh ghaffarzade As she said, it is luxury food, obviously. But anyway, I've eaten it many times. Not to say I'm rich, but just saying not as rare as you make it to be.
Sarah N. You're right. I've been to Tehran every year and have visited the grand bazaar many times to see lots of shops that sell the same Caviars with the same price. They had a wide variety of caviars from different genus... it's expensive, I've got to admit, that's why many Iranians don't buy it. But it's still widely accessible to the public. Only people don't buy it.
It is not that expensive for most of Iranians. I am not rich but i certainly can buy it. The reason people do not eat it is it is not delicacies at least in our taste. So why expend so money for it.
@Zoroaster So the Russians, living on the shores of the Caspian sea since the Kievan Rus' and salting all kinds of other fishes had no clue how to salt caviar? And Persians told them how to do it and also taught them the world "caviar". Yeah sounds very believable. Not.
We have caviar on bread for breakfast or just a snack here in Norway:) One of my favorite ways is toasted bread with smoked trout and black caviar and sweet mustard on top.
***** First of all, I'm fucking middle eastern just for the record. Secondly, I don't drink, only ganja! Third, YOU NEVER EVER EVER EVER EAT A GOOD CAVIAR WITH ANYTHING METAL! fucking idiot
I thought this was supposed to be a guide to tehran , the first two parts were great but this part seems like a documentary about caviar . Could have been in any country and it wouldnt have mattered . Any way thanks for the first two parts
Just like you go to England to try fish and chips, Ireland to try Whiskey and Irish Coffee going to Iran can't be complete without having caviar. Would have been the same if she went to Russia.
killercaos123 I've been in Iran 24 years and I have never eaten Caviar, nor have I seen it in any menu. I doubt you can find it easily. And I guess 99% of Iranians have never tried it just like me. Going to Iran is completely OK without Caviar
Ya thats my point its not a famous iranian dish and its in expensive restaurants which means it isnt for every one . So I dont feel like it would be a part of the iranian experience if i were to go there .
+kianoosh ghaffarzade As she said, it is luxury food, obviously. But anyway, I've eaten it many times. Not to say I'm rich, but just saying not as rare as you make it to be.
Interesting! I have a plan to go to Tehran /Iran next year I can’t wait to go to those places specially the teahouse and nayeb restaurant. The bazars too 👍🏼👌🏼💐
I used to eat this black stuff in Russia 2002. It was £12 a jar. Bloody delicious. Unaffordable now, even in Russia, so I eat Salmon Caviar in tins from Kamchatka. My Russian friends fly over with it. Around £4 a tin.
It is! Go there you will love it. It is very safe and the people are extraordinary friendly. Just do a bit of research about those who have gone there and their testimonies.
Uprated. Funny, because in NYC for years I always kept champagne, little breads for toast, quality butter, a few hardboiled eggs, Perrier, lemons and caviar ... for breakfast, especially! I didn't know a little onion could be good, too. I quite like it sometimes. I did find that if it stains your teeth black, it's just inferior fish eggs, dyed. I'm okay with lumpfish eggs, however -- it doesn't have to be the fancy stuff. Not everyone likes this, for sure.
I would love to visit those traditional restaurants, that is not a face we have seen of Iran before, but I am troubled by the language, not many seem to speak english :S
+calipdis2 That is because foregin media did not enter Iran for the past 30 years or so or at least evven if they did, they only had the intention of exposing the world to the biased dark side of Iran, which is the Iranian regime and their minority supporters... By persuading the mass minds against Iran, people have had the image of a much different Iran which is waaay different from the truth,a distorted image really.
+calipdis2 Well, the interviewer speaks to them in Farsi here. I'm sure if she went around speaking in English many would engage in the conversation with her. But anyway, Islamic Republic is to blame, because they don't instill English teaching in the education system.... a way to control the population and an attempt to avoid western influence.
remember it takes 10-15 yrs to harvest them. from day one if sturgeon are harvest per day not having to wait a certain period of time. pretty sure they're be the same price as a bag of chip
i want to go to Iran so bad. the food looks amazing and it is halal. its hard to find halal food in the city. when i have made some money i will be definitely going to Iran
I too want it, the only thing that comes in my mind that "Halal" could actually been processed by calling upon Ali instead of Allah, that is, instead of La illaha Ilal Allah, someone would be slaughtering animals saying ya Ali madad, quite likely of dominant ignorance
Red Caviar and Margarine sound amazing with some Ritz crackers and Kraft sliced Cheese...YUuummmm..and a peach Belinni made with Cooks...Hamptons Budget life..
Man khaviar ra dar Iran nakhordam, vali fekr mikonam, ke kheili khoshamaze ast.😃 I did not eat caviar in Iran, but i think, that it is very delicious.😃
I wonder if all caviar taste the same? We always eat the caviar in the fish that we fish (but not beluga sturgeon since they are critically endangered)
I used to order from a place in Manhattan called CAVIARTERIA. They were in small jars, different types, with explanations of what they were and what to eat them with or whatever. They shipped all over the USA and it made a fun gift (my late mother in Ohio was thrilled) and they'd messenger over your order in Manhattan. There was quite a big difference. I am okay with various roe and lumpfish eggs, too. You either like it or ya don't.
They definitely do not taste the same between different species. The best way to check this out is go to a really good sushi place that should have several different types of fish eggs like salmon, flying fish, etc.
Wonderful video. I lived in Iran in the mid-1960's and graduated from the Tehran American School (Madreseh Amrikai). I have such wonderful memories - the country, the culture, and the people. Thank you for the video...

She is such a perfect presenter!
SignatureSaqib confident also
She's fantastic. Should have her own tv show
Haha. Very good. "A bit pricey, but then just don't eat anything else." Good vid. Well presented by a presentable presenter.
I loved that comment too, made me laugh 😹
More Gelareh!

She's annoying

Great host, great videos. Thank you Munchies, I enjoyed this a lot!
I loved this. Wish there were more videos in the series.
All you need is caviar in the morning, and an empty wallet the rest of the day!
Bryan Liang the rest of the month
Empty wallet for the rest fo the week should say.
Eat this caviar in the morning, and you'll have the best day ever.
Watch Part 1: bit.ly/Tehran-1
Watch Part 2: bit.ly/Tehran-2
but the guy was saying in a polite manner that its an aphrodisiac :D he said you'll need to do a lot of things till late at night :P

Loving this series, hope to see more of it. Loving the host Gelareh!
What a great and enjoyable series. Fantastic insight for food lovers interested in different ethnic dishes, like myself, a New Zealander in Australia

kianoosh ghaffarzade Exactly. Iranians themselves don't eat it but sell all of it abroad by illegally branding their fish eggs as "caviar".

Very nice host. Very polite and very much informative. To the point. The best.
Amazing Iran, as a matter of fact original Einkorn Wheat, was found growing in Khorasan province Iran, many years ago !
This is great... but why the ball-shrinking horror music ath the start?
Ball shrinking music?? Man take that batman dp off.. You wuzz
it was trying to replicate the Jaws feel
If you think about it caviar it's actually a really weird food. However, it looks delicious, maybe 'cause I'm hungy right now.
Wow a caviar breakfast?
I'm gonna stick to my 3 eggs and cold milk diet
Oh and I should say Chicken eggs :P
@@92HASN how is 3 eggs a diet?
surprises me that they aren't using mother of pearl spoons as the metal reacts with the caviar and will impart a metallic taste to the dish.
Caleb Liao only silver reacts with the caviar. other metals don't. (some beluga caviar come in metal tins)
Very interesting to see you eat the Caviar ...you seem to have a healthy appetite. Very nice
Tarik and this woman need to host the munchies show more eheee they both are amazing & humble host...😅😊
Wow, I'm surprised that's how you eat caviar in Tehran :) looks yummy!
Usually we just smear the caviar over crackers or bread, and then eat it.
Wondering what happened to the part in the trailer where gelareh has a meal with a tehrani family.
شما فوق العاده هستید ، سلام از صربستان
IRAN is the best and human Country in the World. Thank's Iran from Bosna and Hercegovina 92/95

Caviar was eaten in ancient Persia and the term caviar means fish eggs
