Best example of this knot I’ve seen! The two different bright colors really makes it easy to see all the details of the process! Thanks! I get tired of using swivels to change over to fluorocarbon for my leaders!
Recently began using braid to fluorocarbon and I needed a knot. Watched dozens of videos and this was the easiest to understand. I’ve gotten hung up several times using this knot while drop shotting and the line has never failed at this knot connection. This really is an effective and simple to tie knot. Thank you!
You won’t be disappointed in this knot. All i use for braid to fluorocarbon line for bass fishing. Plus in my opinion it’s the easiest and fastest to tie and never failed me.
Been using this for braid to floro for years, from triple digit tuna to freshwater. I've always wrapped it 6 times up then 6 times down overlapped. Not one time has it failed me.
Thanks for the video. I’m a beginner in fishing and wanting to go but never knew how to tie a knot. This helps tremendously. Now I can go by myself and do,it alone without asking anyone’s help.
Best Tutorial! No silly music in the background! Thank you. I was running out of beer, watching the other videos and trying to do this, but thankfully you saved me. 😂
thank you for the tutorial. my guide ring is very small and i tried alot of knot and most of them wont do good with my small rings, but this one, its perfect. i lost alot of lures before because of not using leader. hopefully now i no longer need to buy alot of lures
Very nice job. Thanks especially for addressing the critical step of how to pull the knot up tight. Oh, and this is an actual albright knot. Some tutorials incorrectly apply that name to the alberto knot, bristol knot, and others.
So I tried it out on some 15 lb. Power Pro braided line to 12 lb. 100% fluorocarbon line! This will be thousand times better than using a barrel swivel! So much less noticeable!
Great tutorial, take it a step further and add 3 or 4 wraps in the loop as well to make the Improved albright. I find that it makes a difference when using skinny line for ultralight fishing.
That’s the best knot demo I’ve seen in a long time. I wasn’t sure if it would work with 17# sniper fluorocarbon and 20# braid but it seems to be holding. What knot would you suggest for smaller braid and fluorocarbon?
The Albright knot will work well with a lighter line. Just make sure to do 10 to 12 wraps with the lighter line. Another knot I would consider is the FG knot. If tied properly, the FG knot is very strong and compact. I will try to get a video of the FG knot up in the future. Thanks for the comment.
@@Thehowtochannelinc i just tied it and it still breaks at the knot. This is fireline, not standard braided. Not unraveling/slipping, just snapping right at the knot.
I have never had that issue, but I don't use Fireline. I did a quick search online and found a few forum posts talking about Fireline breaking at the knot as you described. It may have something to do with the line. I would try a few more wraps and wetting the line before cinching it down. Let me know if that helps. If anyone else has had this issue, please comment.
@@Thehowtochannelinc i think i need to get some regular mono for the fireline. That seems to work fine. I have used fireline direct to lure before on steelhead, and they dont seem to be bothered at all by it.
Great video. Question: how long of a flourcarbon leader should you have? I was thinking not quite the length of rod so that when you cast, or retrieve, the knot does not enter the first eye of rod. Thoughts?
It really depends on the type of fishing you're doing, but if you can keep your fluorocarbon leader from going through your rod guides, your knot will last longer due to less abrasion. Leader length can vary from 12 inches to 20 ft depending on the situation. I prefer a 3 ft leader most of the time. Thanks for the question.
I use this knot quite a bit w/ mono mainline & a shock leader for surf fishing. I’ll put a bit of super glue over the knot as well. It works really well.
Yes, it will work with a lighter line, but it is more difficult to tie if you dont have a lot of practice. Try pinching your loop down so it becomes fairly narrow and spacing out your wraps a little bit. They will come together as you tighten the knot. Just be sure you do at least 12 wraps and really pull hard on all 4 lines before dropping the tag ends. Thanks for the comment.
@@Thehowtochannelinc thanks! I managed to get comfortable with it - it helped having the main line pinched down by something (literally was taping it to knee on the riverbank lol) so it can't flip over and the tension stays more consistently on the wraps. Caught a small walleye with it :)
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but in spite of following this meticulously and step by step, it just won't work: after I tie the knot, I can tighten by pulling both main line and tag end of both sides, and it look exactly as it's supposed to. But when I then pull the main lines of braid and fluorocarbon, the fc slips right through the knot, even at mild pull?
That is unusual. Make sure your loop is reasonable wide, and when wrapping your coils, make sure they are very tight. If that doesn't work, I suspect it is something to do with the braided line you are using.
Please clarify your question. I'm not sure what you're asking. This knot is useful when you are using a braided line and you want to attach fluorocarbon line as a leader.
I've tried this several times and the slippery braid combined with the slippery fluorocarbon makes this come out every time. I've got 50 braid and 50 flouro. What could I be doing wrong?
Im not sure. Try pulling very tight on all 4 lines before dropping the tag ends. If you have very slippery line, the knot needs to be cinched down very tight before dropping the tag ends.
That depends on how big the shark is. The Albright is a strong knot when tied properly, but any knot can fail if the fish is big enough. Just be sure your line is strong enough for the size fish you're after.
When I try and cinch down the knot on 80 flouro, the braid knot forms nicely, then slips off the flouro. Am I doing something wrong? The braid is still neatly tied, it just slips off the flouro.
Help!! I've used this knot many times however I'm having a hard time with my new braid. Everything goes well untill I try to sinch down the know and as I apply pressure the braid jumps partially over the FC line. I can't figure out why it keeps doing this 😢
Some braid is very slippery. Make sure your wraps are very tight before cinching the knot down. Also, cinch the knot tight before dropping the tag ends. You need the braid to bite into the fluorocarbon so it doesn't slip.
It is an Albright knot. Unfortunately, many knots are tied slightly differently and called the same thing. There are other variations of this knot that also work well. Thanks for the question.
Your rod guides must be too small for the knot. You can shorten your leader so you don't ever reel the knot into the guides. If you need a longer leader, I would try an FG knot.
This one failed waaaaaaay to often on me. Anyone knows a good knot that can be used to tie a very thin line to a thick line? FG doesnt work very well in that cade, albright is to weak...

Some braid is very slippery. Make sure your wraps are very tight before cinching the knot down. Also, cinch the knot tight before dropping the tag ends. You need the braid to bite into the fluorocarbon so it doesn't slip.
