yah i never can understand why various video makers’ feel the need to put electro or hip hop on simple tutorial videos. like dude. you are teaching a knot. hip hop and electro are awesome, but stupid, unnecessary, and not complimentary at all to a tutorial video such as this.

You have answered my prayers. I am new to all of this and have been going crazy trying to tie a proper Alberto. This is so easy and makes a nice, strong yet thin knot.
(I"m the Hubby, Harry) I have KNOT tried this but I say thank for this and the others I see. Well worth the try and consideration to be fair off the last few comments. But for me it LOOKS amazing . Thanks and this and a few other videos like it are very well done. I will at least try it. You da man!
Many thanks for posting. An excellent tutorial! Just a suggestion, from an old guy. The music is extremely off-putting. I'd prefer Mozart . . .but many people don't like classical music. See what I mean? No music is best.
So simple, and such a clean knot! I've been using the FG for years which is also a great knot but sometimes the leader tag catches when running through eyelets. My FG's are especially untidy if I've had to retie at sea while the bite is hot 😂. Will be giving this knot a go next trip.
I saltwater fishing mostly in Western Australia , and use a 15 foot assasin horizon zxl casting rod , with a six ounce sinker , this rod builds huge velocity and using a 17 foot 40lb shock leader to 30lb braid can cause problems if the knot is not smooth , whe you get it right 150 meters in light winds is common , when you get it wrong you loose the lot and maybe 30 meters of braid as well on a big eggbeater reel , this is one of the smoothest knots to use on a big spinning reel to not have tags grab coils of braid and cause a bust off not the strongest but on a spinning reel probably one of the best .
The best knot to tie is the knot you are best at being able to tie. A shitty FG knot will suck compared to a well tied uni to uni. Best advice to anglers, find a knot you can tie well and quickly and practice as much as possible. For me, it has been a Crazy Alberto. I pulled in a 4ft catfish on a 6ft medium light pole with 10lb braid to 10lb fluoro leader and Alberto as my connector knot fishing with a weightless stick bait. seemed plenty strong to me and did not re-tie afterwards and still was able to pull in 3lb-4lb bass no problem
The FG is designed for when you have a large diameter difference between leader and braid. Comparisons of 10lb braid to 10 pound leader are not relevant.
It’s a great knot so long as you don’t flip the loop over each time you wrap it like you did which is why you had to smooth it out so much before pulling it tight. That being said, it’s my favorite knot for a quick leader change.
He didn't smooth it out, he was lubricating the knot. Spit on the fingers and rub it into the knot before tightening. It's cleaner than just spitting on the knot for youtube.
Yeah, I mainly use double uni, been trying to get used to the FG knot but man is it a PITA. Will try this next month when I hit the lake again. Question for those that do use this, how does it hold up to casting through the eyelets?
He should have moistened the knot before tightening it down. The fluorocarbon side if you look at it closely is compromised and stretched. Always get the loops wet before you yank on your tag ends. Other than that, I think that is one of the coolest knots I have ever seen.
Ive done this on 30 30 and it was fine. Just have to make sure the loop stays straight as you tighten up otherwise youll end up with an unfinished SC knot real quick.
Just need to hold those ends real tight and give it a lot of pressure to get it to cinch up. 10# braid to 8# fluro. Took me 4 tries the first time, but now it’s all good.
This line is very strong and stretches great when setting the hook or fighting and bringing in the big fish. For the value of the line which isn’t much this is the right line for you if you want to save money and catch fish.
Blackwashing great videos that are already out there with the help of youtube insiders, probably for the music production and monetary reasons also. Explained.
I do a Bimini on the braid first, then the Yucatan, about 7 turns for 40lb braid. One or two more turns for thinner braid, vice versa with one less turn for 80lb.
I couldn't get this knot to stay with the leader on the left, so i reversed them and made the loop with the leader and it worked. Was i missing a step trying it the way the video shows?
Good looking knot but have settled on FG at home and double uni on the water… have been getting fish sharked and the double uni has proven a good knot if tied well… the FG knot much smaller and casts far better! I like seeing how other knots are tied but don’t see any reason to be proficient at tying a third joining knot.
Thanks!
Good knot. Annoying noise!
👍👍👍
But you’re lucky you found this video 😂

Does it work if the monk leader is a lot thicker than the braid? We use a lot of 40-50lb braid to 60-80lb mono for jigging.

The FG knot is literally the best knot out there when it comes to braid to fluo. And you only need 2 hands

Best tutorial!!! Beautiful easy knot. No babbling. Thank you!
Thank you. I thought I was the only one that gets annoyed by the tv star wannabe's. They spend 20 minutes to get to a 3 minute video.

Excellent knot, I prefer this over an FG knot, I put a drop of super glue on the knot also. Tip from the great Roland Martin.

Very nice x will be using this in future

brilliant knot for tying a shock leader for bream fishing in uk. Cheers

Similar to a double uni except bring the line through the loop after wrapping it! Nice job 👍 and thAnk you 💯
Oh my god, I feel like every "mind blown" meme wrapped into one. This is soooooooo much easier than other knots.
Looks like a good knot to me many thanks

You need a minimum of 60lb using a 6oz lead if your pendulum casting etc
This is my go too, but I tie a bimini twist in the braid first, then do the Yucatan, absolute beast of a knot
The bimini twist is pointless for this knot.
@@abdul-hadidadkhah1459 it adds shock absorption in the braid, which is important when using short fluoro leaders
Cool knot. Cool music too!

Every time I tried The mono just pulled right out!

Its the easiest knot for sure just not sure how strong it is with the mono leader cinching down on itself 😎
He should have moistened the knot before tightening it down. The fluorocarbon side if you look at it closely is compromised and stretched. Always get the loops wet before you yank on your tag ends. Other than that, I think that is one of the coolest knots I have ever seen.
I'll take that over the nailless nail knot for fly-fishing --thank you very much.
All knots are easy, smooth and compact when you tie 50# braid to 10# fluoro. Not so much when it's 30 and 30.
Ive done this on 30 30 and it was fine. Just have to make sure the loop stays straight as you tighten up otherwise youll end up with an unfinished SC knot real quick.

I've been using an updated albright knot for this. I wrap out 12 then back 3 over the top. I'm assuming you can tie the Yucatan knot faster?
I use this knot but, l will wrap it about 20 times.
Tight lines everyone!

Blackwashing great videos that are already out there with the help of youtube insiders, probably for the music production and monetary reasons also.
Explained.
Uni to uni for me. Smaller, just as strong and uses less line waste.
Back to back uni won't go through guides.well. and for stickbaiting and using poppers it will take your tip off with a 16foot trace
Uni to unit also sucks big time when the line is over 30 lbs. Its just too damn bulky.
I've spliced uni to uni on long lines in Kodiak and NEVER had one break and on my bait casting surf perch rod with 20# test same thing.
Perfeito amigo 👍
Im lucky I found this music!
Will the Yucatan knot go through micro guides without any problems? Thanks
I love everything about this video

One of the easiest knots to tie. How reliable is it?
I do a Bimini on the braid first, then the Yucatan, about 7 turns for 40lb braid.
One or two more turns for thinner braid, vice versa with one less turn for 80lb.
Are you winding the leader, or the base line?
Interesting knot. However that background "music" is anoying AF.

Nice and easy to tie but will slip with tighter lines.
Does the tag end gets caught in guides?
So if I use the leader to do the knot, I will have a smooth end to go through the rod easily. Nice work 😅😅
