    My perfect day is spending time with all my children and granddaughters. Sitting back and listening to them talk. They never run out of things to talk about. The each live separate and different lives with different interests. They can share them with each other and enjoy the time with one another. My family is a blended family. His, mine and ours = four kids plus their spouses then our granddaughters and his ex-wife and her mom. We are all comfortable with the dynamic.

    Lovely. All of them. A recent great day for me was a shining sun, my family in good health and me too. I am unable to walk without a walker due to very bad side effects of chemo and rarely go outside as it is such a hassle so the sun sun shine in my window is very cheering!

      The dresser and nightstand went to a good friend of mine who is about to have a baby girl right before mine is due. She is a wonderful person and had donated the dresser to help a young mom I was donating to but it didn't end up fitting in her place so I asked if she wanted it back after I finished it and she decided it would be perfect for her nursery. The green table sold to a person in my neighborhood.

    I love sweet pea for the green. Great flips! Might try your ugly duckling challenge. But. I recently took on my mother in law in our home who has dementia. This might be a deciding factor for me with the time crunch i always feel. My fractured wrist is healed finally and i am ready to get diy-ing again.

    • @DesertDIY
      @DesertDIY  2 роки тому +4

      That would be great if you could join in. Does your mother in law enjoy crafting? You might be able to put together some busy crafts for her to do along side you as you flip furniture. Dementia is rough. My aunt is in the later stages of dementia/alzheimers and some days are harder than others. What you are doing to care for her is an amazing thing.

    The green colour you mixed turned out great and looks beautiful on the coffee table. The colour changes the table completely. I was surprised to see how nice the two tan pieces turned out because normally I'm not a fan of tans or taupes. Ordinarily they are too bland for my tastes but this particular colour and the matching hardware turned two random pieces into a very attractive matching set.

    I was just watching an older video of yours and saw you using a solution and scrubbing the paint off of some hardware and just wanted to offer a helpful hint to make this easier and faster. Just boil the hardware in some water with baking soda in it for about 15 minutes and it will come right off. There is a UA-cam video of this process posted by This Old House.

    Am thrilled to see 'trending' colors that are NOT fifty shades of Prison GRAY!!! Thank you!! Your hodge-podge green hue turned out beautifully. Have had success in many projects with it--reasonably priced too. :)

    Hi everyone ☺ I'm new to furniture. But was in the automotive paint world for 35 years and still love to paint. I was very very ill for almost 2 years. And couldn't do anything. And felt very bad about myself... but a very wise man told me no matter how far the pendulum swings one way it can swing just as far the opposite way . Yes it's true. I'm loving working with wood and crafts.... and the info and techniques are much appreciated! Thanks 😊

My mother just had bladder cancer surgery. Today she found out it stage 1 only! Yes! My dad trembles constantly now. They are 84yo (I’m 53) and I didn’t upset mom today at all! Woohooo! A good day: last weekend we went to beautiful Vermont with our adult kids and four of their friends. It was like having six of our own that all got along! We celebrated job successes, one bad job ended, a successful academic semester, love, and most of all, health. Between the beauty of our surroundings and the camaraderie, it was magical. Also, no one got hurt skiing! LOL.

    Me personally, I'm not fond of tope, beige, tan, I just find those colors boring and ugly, this color reminds me of pantyhose. I'm not arguing that you did a good job, you did a good job painting, just for me personally I think these type of colors are not my thing, but have at it for those that do. I do however like the green it is pretty, reminds me of tree mossy green.

    I’m curious about why you used a latex paint? I have had to remove it off of furniture before and it is terrible to remove but, I couldn’t leave it on the piece because the latex flakes off. Mineral or chalk paint is not bad to paint over and it lasts a very long time. What benefits are there to using latex?

    Was watching the show where you spoke about tarantula hunting in your yard. I believe lavender on window and door frames helps.

    I love how that green turned out!! I have a piece in my garage that has some flowers in the design. I’ve gone as far as filling it in but now……lol I’m not sure what to do. It’s country and I do nothing country or farmhouse

    Why doesn't someone use Gardenia with a hint of coral. Or do what ever you have on hand to make a color similar. Desert colors? I haven't seen it yet.

    I love the green. It looks like country green and goes so well with the coffee table. I like the toupe as well. It looks great with the brass. Did I mention that I hate grey?

    Wow those turned out so pretty great job. I suffer from PTSD and depression and I find painting very therapeutic. I had an amazing day yesterday I got three dresser painted. Of course all the same color but I got the first coat on all of them.

    My great day is when my 13 yo daughter with downsyndrome gets dressed and lets me do her hair for school with no issues. This task causes me the most anxiety as if she’s not ready on time the school bus leaves and she misses a day!! Oxo
