    Long Story Short: Refined is great for cooking due to higher smoke point.
    Unrefined is great for applying to hair and skin due to natural antioxidants.

    I used to use the organic virgin coconut oil. But it's so hard to maintain because it's so expensive. Now I'm trying the refined coconut oil w/ retinol because the price difference is 300% cheaper.

    Let me tell u guys this....Virgin coconut oil absolutely has to be in my house. I use it in replacement of lotion. Since I've started using it on my skin, I've noticed how beautiful my skin has been. It's softer and clear. I also made a lotion for after I take my baths at night. I put coconut oil and drops of tea tree oil in a clean lotion bottle with a pump. It works great for eczema and acne. I'd much rather make my own instead of buying these expensive tea tree soaps and lotions that have lots of other things in it.

      So you obviously heated the oil and put it in a bottle for the lotion you made? Does it stay clear?

    Surely the refining process oxidises the oil making it higher in omega 6?
    Wouldn't that would be the most pertinent difference considering the negative effects of omega 6 on people with arthritis and auto immune diseases.

    Is there a difference between expeller-pressed, cold-pressed? And I've also heard RAW and Virgin and Extra-Virgin are actually three terms for the same product? No

    • @Fertilitypotentialprotocol
      @Fertilitypotentialprotocol  7 років тому

      Expeller pressed uses higher heat to extract the oils, so it would take away some of the possible benefits in oil. If it is expeller-pressed than it would be refined. When it comes to coconut oil I do not believe there is a difference in virgin and extra-virgin, the composition of the oil would be the same (unlike some other oils). There could be some differences in raw and virgin oils, both are minimally processed. At that point when deciphering these terms it can be helpful to look more into the company and not just "marketing terms"
