I'm sure he was really laying down the hammer hard between shots, but there's always chance that the longer route was less congested and was able to stay at highway speed longer than the more direct route. 1:26 For anyone who doesn’t know, Jeremy Clarkson referenced the episode where Richard Hammond insulted the Mexicans and where Clarkson himself made a joke about the Mexican ambassador sleeping all day with the TV on.
And, TBH, they really crossed the line in that incident. Most of their jokes using national stereotyping go right up to the line, maybe pushing it a little, but don't go too far. The jokes about Mexicans were, to quote one observer, "as funny as a cold sweat and a sharp pain down your left arm."
Although Jeremy said he patched things up with the Mexican Ambassador, the citizens in the country of Mexico doesn’t know that they’re now on good terms. Plus Richard blew it for the trio by going too far and James and Jeremy were deeply annoyed and I would’ve done the same thing in sabotaging the Viper to slow him down.
I went on the 111 down to Bombay Beach with a friend after camping in Joshua Tree and it is a very unique drive with almost no one around. The amount of train traffic out there was absolutely incredible as well. I think Clarkson took the better route personally even if he had lost.

No matter how many times I watch Top Gear videos, I will want to watch it again if I see it in my recommendations. Top Gear with the "Trio" was irresistible.
Top Gear must have a budget for speeding fines. And maybe some kickbacks to keep those points off Jeremy's licence. Every road trip he gets stopped by the rozzers for speeding or some other misdemeanour.
I just cannot get over how amazing the LFA sounds. I'm impressed of how much the Viper has improved over the last generation. It's very dramatic and handsome looking, the interior is nice as well.
LFA project has have been developed from 10 years. 6 years tested on Nurburgring. V10 engine made by Yamaha, which is specialized with small, light sport motorcycle engines. It goes till 9 rpm ! V10 is the best combination of the power and sound. This is is a combination of Ferrari sound and motorcycle sound. Yamaha is an expert also to musician instruments so it has knowledge about sound technology. Engine reaction is so fast that only digit tachometer can follow it… To go to 9 000 rpm takes half second. It is the most expensive japan car in the history. Production only 500 cars.
"Yamaha is an expert also to musician instruments" I'm a musician, specifically a guitarist of 7 years, and I have to disagree. Yamaha instruments are sub-par to most other brands so I wouldn't call them "experts" they make good beginner to intermediate instruments, that's about it. To call them experts is to put them up there with the likes of legendary companies like Gibson USA or Steinway...
Fredrik Kalgren While i totally agree on the guitar front, I have also been playing 10 years, the keyboards that Yamaha produces are very decent for the money. I however am struggling to find the connection between the LFA's engine and Yamaha's keyboards. While they may be made by the same company, they are not made by the same group of people. Or the same division. Probably not in the same building. Possibly different countries. It does sound great, but i cannot agree with that information.
Fredrik Kalgren But is there any other engine company which has connection with musician instruments ? No. So this means Lexus has chosen the best experienced with sound manufacturer. They wanted to have complete masterpiece, even with such a detail like sound surrounding a driver.
I guess you can say that. I mean it's better approach than BMW's idea to make the M5 emit artificial engine noise into the cabin..as a BMW owner i always shake my head in shame at that idea. The LFA does sound a Formula 1 car and is the closest i ever heard a car get to one.
Yeah, I currently live in Calexico.. Damn I would've loved to seen them... I recongnize all the streets they drove on.. My favorite TV show in my unpopular city incredible...
Calexico is my hometown, and I can't believe I didn't know they filmed here. Also, they parked the wrong way on that street before the border, it's one way. Hammond took the wrong way into Mexico that's only for cars.

6:18 Okay, I see you...
Top Gear must have a budget for speeding fines. And maybe some kickbacks to keep those points off Jeremy's licence. Every road trip he gets stopped by the rozzers for speeding or some other misdemeanour.
Christian Koncz it either that or they have a bat in the boot
They also get permission to break the speed limit a bit
But they were only doing 55 😅
2:49 Fun Fact. Jeremy is where GTA is set. ‘Sandy Shores’ (Desert Shores) and the road next to the train line
I just cannot get over how amazing the LFA sounds. I'm impressed of how much the Viper has improved over the last generation. It's very dramatic and handsome looking, the interior is nice as well.
i like how they edited the speedo to 55 mph
Fredrik Kalgren
But is there any other engine company which has connection with musician instruments ?
The LFA does sound a Formula 1 car and is the closest i ever heard a car get to one.
but its a piece of shit.....
7:40 when the teacher sends you to the other class to get a pen
3:06 ahh yes the sweet sound of a K5LLA
Its a shame that this wonderful show ended. Like this was the best top gear by far
Funny the LFA's spoiler comes up at about 100kph (60mph for you Americans) and the editing made him look like he's going 55mph! Hah lol.
I believe it can be raised manually at any speed.. They could always find a way around the law ;)
Let's be honest with ourselves, off camera he opened it up.
it comes up at 50mph
eyeballs97 yes you're right sir
also, when Jeremy says "In fact at this point we all had the hammer down" I don't think that he's talking about going 55mph haha
it always makes me wonder how many times the crew has to film one scene to get all the angles without having the other crew in it
Yeah, I currently live in Calexico.. Damn I would've loved to seen them... I recongnize all the streets they drove on.. My favorite TV show in my unpopular city incredible...
Whats it like
Calexico is my hometown, and I can't believe I didn't know they filmed here. Also, they parked the wrong way on that street before the border, it's one way. Hammond took the wrong way into Mexico that's only for cars.
I live in El Centro and Calexico used to be my hometown I thought of the same thing that they went into a one way street hahah !
Probably because it's a show and he didn't actually cross the border
👍🏼
@@jasonbaylor9865 well he did
Each of the shots of the speedometers cut at exactly 55 MPH. Clever.
7:43 Hammond got what was coming to him, and Clarkson summed it up perfectly.
I really like the overtake scene between Jeremy and those Union Pacific SD70s. I think track speed on that stretch is about 70mph.
2008 : LFA overprice
2020 : People understand because the sound so beauty and the price go up to 100% from the normal price
The production year was actually 2012
Hammond pulling up at the border and just saying “Oh God no!” kills me every time 😂😂
I still wake up and remember I am Mexican, and that makes me sad :(
For legal reasons, that's a joke.

They were flipping the camera guy for trying to take their soul :-3
Lol haha saw it!
Because Murica
This show is the reason why i fell for the Aston Martin Vanquish
6:48. Me when I realised series 4 was coming out 🤣
One of the few times that Jeremy and James work together, and I love it so much
i love how they edited it together so they dont ever go over 55mph...
clarkson: "OOOOOOH" *goes 55mph (lying)*
I think that the Aston Martin is the best looking car, but the LFA is more PowerFull... But the Viper is awesome to
only in the LFA can you top off at 55 mph at 9000 revs
7:03...Lol..Jeremy's cackling...
That Vanquish and LFA are the two most beautiful cars ever made
Why does the US flag on the map at 1:48 have 61 stars? Did we annex Canada or something?
I'm not saying it's aliens...
But it's aliens.
*aliens intensify*
How did you see that
@@expiredpancake8198 delete your comment -FBI
It's just a graphic.
I love how their cars arrived super clean while Hammond's Viper was leaving hotel dirty..
Never seen cartoons? If you go fast enough the dust and dirt will make an after image.
6:17 it’s hector with his civic
Spoon engines?
“I don't care if u won”
“Is it just you here”
**Santa laugh Intensifies**
**Hammond worrying noises**
"...drank quite a lot of his Tequila, and all is well...
But the Mexicans don't know that..."

The sight is simply spectacular!
"It's a bit like sending paddington bear into a mincing machine" wow... So true
I like the 55mph speed limit part...
They even have video-proof that they dont break laws!!
I'm in love with the Viper.
Don't worry Hammond, those are U.S. police near the border. They're not looking for brits in sports cars.
Not police, U.S. Border Patrol
This is one of the best race clips from the whole series
Clarkson: I could get up to 55 mph
Also clarkson: Almost launches off of a slight bump in the road in the very next scene
James May swerving at 5:14. Blaspheme
Mr. slow? Driving fast?
Left lane hogging. Blaspheme.
Lexus LFA is a beauty. Sounds incredible
Jeremy said its his fav car of all time.
4:25 “Stand by Your Man” playing in background 😂
7:34 LMAO James is hilarious!
