Its also great for cycles such as covarex - limit the inputs and outputs via wires and let it go, so it will spit out only the excess of a certain material. Works perferctly for sek2 recipies
Those power problems are exactly why my IR3 base had a sub-grid for each stack of machinery - with few combinators, I set it up to automatically and gradually shut down non-essencial sections of the base, so there was always enough energy for laser defences from the backup coal and petroleum power plants. Saved my ass when I overbuilt my factory.
Seeing downed defense because of a bad power supply, I feel vindicated in how I keep different parts of a base wired separately, so that it's super easy to disconnect all of the production while fixing power. Especially when all-in on lasers :)
Your stubborn insistence on not using prod modules has finally caught up with you. If you'd just use them, you would find that you need fewer resources to make the same amount of stuff. Without prods, it takes 12 red belts of iron to fill a red belt with purple science; with prod 3s everywhere, it only takes 6.
I know people like Nilaus like to talk bad about steam storage. He's absolutely right when the ration of U235 to cells is 1:10, but in krastorio, it's 2:1. Steam storage or kovarex is def necessary for nuclear power
It's also *way easier* since K2 has gigantic tanks, so you don't have to have 30 tanks to buffer steam. Also, steam has a higher energy value, so even for a 1.5GW reactor setup, you're not producing quite as much steam as you would in vanilla. I was starting to come close to having the same problem as in this video. But it was mostly because my starting uranium patches were absolutely anemic. Also, I wasn't running out of U-235; I was starting to run out of U-238. But then again, I always go purple science first, mostly because of beacons and assembler 3s. And in K2, module 2s are easier to make, since they don't require blue circuits. In K2, being able to get Kovarex up and running is merely a bonus.
Do you have per-episode save files available? I'd love to pick up in your base right before the power cut. Weirdo that I am, there's nothing I enjoy more in Factorio than overbuilding electrical power
That's definitely a problem, it looks super gross and wasteful. I just monitor the hell out of my buffers so I never wind up in a super desperate situation. Just in case, I have the perimeter, science, and general production parts of the factory on separate power segments so I can reduce load instantly.
I think his bigges problem was that he had no circuit condition for sutting down the reactors He was likely producing way more energie then he needed, so wasting nuclear cells
@@GelberDracheLP definitely. though tbf you onlu need like one centrifuge per reactor, you can easily support even a fairly large nuclear plant with a small mine and kovarex operation. The likely problem here was the backlog present from the mine not being properly alarmed, Buffers only help to clean up dry periods when something is there to replace them at the end, otherwise it just delays the inevitable, in a much harder to fix fashion. I generally do final material processing buffers for stuff like nuclear fuel as thats easy to alarm and a single steel chest of nuclear fuel will last days on end anyway.
Man, those were some Chernobyl Supervisor pre-1986 levels of neglect right there. Great video as always.
This is literally 1984
If you have any multi-square containers, the easiest balancer design is to just use loaders into and out of, say, a warehouse.
And that also works as a buffer
Its also great for cycles such as covarex - limit the inputs and outputs via wires and let it go, so it will spit out only the excess of a certain material. Works perferctly for sek2 recipies
The balencers for the balanced balencers is the most factorio thing I've ever seen 😂
I do love seeing you build this enormous base before unlocking the super-assemblers.

I love how you totally gave up on nuclear pronunciation. 💀
I swear he said "nucelar" at the end when talking about nuclear trains 😂
@@JohnDBlue that's when I decided to comment 🤣🤣🤣
The eternal war against power is one of my favorite factorio minigames, glad to see you enjoying it as well
Absolute gem of content! I nearly spitted my coffee out of laughter many times throughout the video 😂
This is exactly why my walls have all 3 types of turrets.
You really just casually flipped an entire bus belt around rather than go get a mine? Chad.
tbf i like having three belts going back up my bus to send science to the labs
"the bit-rate storm" lol
Is there somthing better then a well edited docjade vid

Nope! Sorry, maybe I'll upload the final base though.
Great vid as always!
2 minutes after its uploaded bruh
this was lovely
Big news! Glad the new episode is here
I love this series, and channel, so much
The biggest negligence imo is, that You try lane balancing instead of warehouse + loaders combo ;)
1000 cards per minute of cards you aren't even going to need in an hour with that kind of production.
W vid
i really like the memes in the beginning
Great video as always
sick vid
great content!!!!!
i may have a problem with power. i fill every open space i dont need with wind turbines. they arent as good as solar, but they work constantly

Hour 0 gang! Here we goo!
1:48 Ready to get lubed up by Doctor Jayden
🤨
For kovarex enrichment prod modules are better afaik.
Why didn't you just set up another uranium mine? Aesthetics?
the only other uranium patch nearby is outside of his walls, i.e. too much work

Gonk :]
I know its a No but does the game support Multiplayer? If so, if any devs see this make the game Online multiplayer Cross platform
It does! multiplayer was added in 2014!
The Nintendo switch version also has cross platform support! No mods on switch though.
Nocular?
Oops sorry, meant to say nucleus
