    Overall there is nothing wrong with setting up the audio system this way but there are definitely better/ more versitile ways to route your inputs and outputs for better control. For example you could use Matrixes for your PA outputs and live stream/ recording instead of Auxes and Groups for your handhelds & lavs to allow you to do your overall all EQ for ringing the mics out on the group masters, leaving the channel EQs free for controlling the individual tonality.
    Overall, this is a good tutorial of what it takes to setup a corporate audio event with the given equipment and things to take into consideration.

    Hi, In a corporate environment I use sub groups all the time. I use groups for Lectern (Podium to you from the US), Table, Headsets, Lavalier (if using, I am almost totally headsets), Handhelds and Playback (BGM, Stings, Video etc), I can then ring out the sources from the groups and can also set an overall group compression etc. I can then set the sound of each source from its channel. This also means that your stream is getting the best processing as processing each channel for GBF (Gain Before Feedback) effects the sound. It is the reason many streams sound bad. I use gates on the channels as described and AutoMix if appropriate. I then feed the system from matrix sends.

      Yes groups are your friend. I do the same on this console. I like to set my mics channels using headphones (eq etc) so I know i have a good sound going to stream then adjust groups for different mic types and ring out for FOH. I generally use LR for FOH and send AUXs to my stream/ZOOM etc in post fader. That way you can mix for the room and know you have a good mix and sound going to stream. Plenty of different ways to do it but I've found that works best for our corporate gigs.

    To get any faders to unity from full off, hold the reset button, then gently push on the fader. It will jump up to 0. Do the reverse to turn output off. Great video.

    4:42 - You can hold the reset button and nudge the fader to bring it up to 0 instead of manually adjusting them.

    Instead of EQing the mics,you can insert a graphic EQ into the PA and ring out the house that way.

    I use the sq5 a lot and the remote app is really good. I see you use your phone for the RTA, when you actually can get the same RTA in the app as on the console.

      By using an external RTA, you’re able to see the effect while staying on the PEQ screen on the iPad. Keeps you from having to do too much back-and-forth switching on the iPad.

    You should really use a group for the mics. Why?
    1) You don't want the feedback EQ in your livestream/recording. It won't feedback there, no reason for it. This is the main reason.
    2) No need to copy/paste and adds the ability to adjust them all on fly.
    3) You'll have the channel EQ free for adjustments based on the speaker.
    4) Not really a benefit here, but if you have other inputs, you'll get a way to control the volume of all mics on a single fader. But even here it can serve as a mute group when no one is talking.
    5) You have the GEQ on the group. Although I like the PEQ much more, it can be handy when you need more control.

    Yeah if can do a video how to patch Dante from the mic receivers to the mixer Dante card would be great. Also how top setup a RIO Yamaha DANTE stagebox to a Yamaha mixer. Also didn't actually use this method to push the gain way higher first unlike how I usually do it where I push the gain to where its "acceptable" level for the venue then start EQ-ing there

  • @jitzevanderhoek1231
    @jitzevanderhoek1231 8 місяців тому +1

    Maybe you can use matrix for your PA/Livestream. Also you can use groups for every kind of mics like for the handheld a group and a group for the laviers mics, so this way you can use GEO EQ which is more specific. for ipad, you can turn on RTA, so this way you dont need you phone anymore ;)

    Great video, got a lot to learn, just some quick question. Having so many mikes you could have used AMM ( auto mic mixer ) function, is there a reason why u didn't ?
    Is it because you've already used gates ?
    Would it be wrong to use gates and amm at the same time ?

    • @liveproductionmastery
      @liveproductionmastery  2 місяці тому

      I didn’t just because auto mic mixer is not applicable to every mixer. You can use both gates and auto mic mixer at the same time. AMM also has gain sharing so even though it adds a super fast gate, there are still other benefits to turning it on with all your other settings.

    If you make your system loud enough, you will never run out of frequencies that feedback. Your ringing out of the system was quite aggressive and I guess changed the character of the sound a lot. Was there an actual need to run the mics that hot and remove so many frequencies so much?

    Do you ever EQ the room before you EQ the microphone?

    • @liveproductionmastery
      @liveproductionmastery  23 дні тому +1

      Yes! When it comes to music, live bands, etc I would EQ the room for a balanced sound out of the speaker based on the space. In those cases I am rarely using lavs or podium mics so the handhelds and instrument mics need much less work in order to not feed back.

    • @DeeJay_IMB
      @DeeJay_IMB 23 дні тому

      @ thank you for the response. Would you be able to do a video on eqing a room? I’m a mobile DJ. I have a basic understanding, but I’ve seen and read so many different things.

  • @JRope1

    I noticed on your handheld you didn’t keep the same order with your eq build, is there a reason the HM is lower on the frequency than the LM?

    • @liveproductionmastery
      @liveproductionmastery  6 місяців тому

      No reason, they are interchangeable. Was just the choice in the moment. Any of the EQ parameters can move anywhere on the spectrum. It is better to keep them in order though just to not be confused later if you decide to adjust one.

    I found this video from this old fox using your old mixing board Qu16 ringing out per speaker/output, which is the opposite of what you said should be done. The advantage of doing it per output I guess is that you can use the fader flip method and leave the 5 channel EQ controls for channel EQ. ua-cam.com/video/Xg7GU6fBzQs/v-deo.html and here is a vid from A&H about the output processing and fader flip on the SQ ua-cam.com/video/rHVOwMDy25Q/v-deo.html
