Stone Cold’s injury still saddens me to this day. Who knows how much more longer he would’ve lasted had that not happened. Imagine the dream matches he could’ve had in the ruthless aggression era. John Cena, Randy Orton, Batista, etc.
I still believe his neck had very little to do with it. He had drug and alcohol and lifestyle issues, and that's what I believe led him to retire. If you watch his last few matches, it doesn't seem like his neck is bothering him much.
It’s worth noting that Austin also had to change his style after his neck injury. Before, he was an excellent and capable technical wrestler who had an incredible match with Bret Hart at the prior Wrestlemania. Afterward, he had to adopt a brutal brawling style to avoid risking his neck further. Also a shame about Bret being forced to retire. Considering how Shawn Michaels made an in-ring return and was better than ever a few years afterward, I’m sure Bret would have also been excellent in the ring well into old age if not for his injuries.
Tyson Kidd is a tough one to read about. Many reports state that he came VERY cose to suffering an internal decapitation. The fact he is even able to stand and walk is truly a miracle.
I saw an interview where he’s mentioned people like Edge and Paige having come back from their career-ending neck injuries and that people will bring that up as to why he should be able to wrestle again. He said the reason that his neck injury was different is because of how high up it was. The vertebrae that he injured is around the back of the mouth, whereas Paige’s and Edge’s were much lower on the spine.

@@TheLegendaryFolklore, Dan Severn says the same thing. He’s more afraid of wrestlers that aren’t trying to hurt him than the highly trained shoot fighters that are trying to intentionally hurt him.
I went to an indie match at the end of 2013 that saw what looked like a career ending injury. It was a triple threat match, and I don’t remember who all was involved, but the event took place in a skating rink. During one spot, two of the wrestlers were outside the ring and the third wrestler went for a suicide dive. Right after he flew out of the ring, the referee called for the bell. I thought maybe it was a count out until I heard someone yell, “Somebody call 911!” It turned out the wrestler doing the suicide dive had caught his foot on the middle rope and had gone down headfirst on the concrete outside the ring. I was on the opposite side of the ring and didn’t see the landing, but it was easily the scariest thing I have ever witnessed in my life. I will never forget seeing the wrestler in question clutching his neck after the fall or seeing the other wrestlers in the match crying.
Carmen Rose Terrifying is definitely the right word. I never heard word that he died, nor did any of the indie feds in the area do a 10 bell salute for him that I saw, and I went to several of their matches during that time, so I’m assuming he survived. I’ve never heard of him wrestling anymore, though, so that fall may very well have ended his career.
I can’t imagine how scared Droz must have been when he heard his neck crack from D’lo Brown powerbombing him and I don’t know why Owen Hart breaking Stone Cold’s neck is on this list. Stone Cold did continue to wrestle after that incident.
At this point in time cm punk and Paige have both returned to wrestling, the Owen ending Austin’s career and Goldberg ending Brett’s are both a bit of a stretch in my mind since they both continued to wrestle afterwards. They contributed to their careers being cut short but they weren’t ended at that moment.
Yeah but it was the straw that broke the camel's back because of the staff infection, Ryback's inexperience, then a concussion that he was probably told wasn't serious as usual. Why punk filed a lawsuit and why the video was evidence he just got tired of the harm being neglected.
With CM Punk, they didn't know what to do. I believe he rolled out of the ring and told the doctor that he's got a concussion. He had to go back into the ring and get tossed over the top rope to be eliminated earlier than expected. It was a similar situation with AJ Styles getting hurt from Edge's Spear, but in that instance, the wrestlers quickly eliminated Styles so he could be looked at.

The career-ending injury of Stone Cold Steve Austin hurts me the most. If Owen Hart didn't do the Piledriver on Stone Cold Steve Austin, he would have still wrestle up until this point
On top of the kick Goldberg didn't hold Bret Hart's foot to support him when he went for the figure 4 on the ringpost causing Bret to fall back and smash his head on the concrete.
Some of these are very misleading. The Owen Hart piledriver and subsequent injury could definitely have been said to have shortened Austin's career, but didn't 'end' it in and of itself. Most wrestlers who've retired through injury can most like look back at one particular moment that caused it. Edge is here twice as 'ending' soneone's career but no mention of Guerrero ending his, considering it was Guerrero's suplex onto a ladder that broke Edge's neck in the first place.
@@gorilla8811 I agree with that too but I thought you were supposed to make it look like you kicked them hard as you can not actually kick them as hard as you can. Idk
Hahaha ...ended CM Punk's career, lol. Right. Injuries definitely played a part, but he chose to leave...just like he recently chose to come back, thankfully! Love your videos!
People have been asking that for years. The Japanese promoter put the event together, so someone over there thought it was a good idea. My guess is the promoter wanted a clearly delineated area for the camera crews, but the problem with that is now you’ve got cameras blocking the view of the fans in the first few rows. So, they may have built the platform to keep the wrestlers higher up while the cameras were at ground level.
You forgot more than I can remember. The number 1 on this list should have been either HHH or Terry Funk both of whom have killed people in the ring although they didn't die until they reached the hospital. That is why they made the piledriver illegal to use. The one that The Undertaker and Kane use is a bit different in the way they set it up, not to mention there is a signal their opponent can give if they are not in the right place. Those are at least 2 that you did not mention.

@@TheLegendaryFolklore, Dan Severn says the same thing. He’s more afraid of wrestlers that aren’t trying to hurt him than the highly trained shoot fighters that are trying to intentionally hurt him.

Chris Nowinski actually did come back and wrestled after Royal Rumble. I remember him wrestling at bad blood later in the year against the Dudleys

@@_UNISTAR_ These people still get hurt, professional sports ain't no joke!
Man, I hope they're okay. That sounds absolutely terrifying! :(
Carmen Rose Terrifying is definitely the right word. I never heard word that he died, nor did any of the indie feds in the area do a 10 bell salute for him that I saw, and I went to several of their matches during that time, so I’m assuming he survived. I’ve never heard of him wrestling anymore, though, so that fall may very well have ended his career.
@@ThunderFist1978 Oh, man. That's terrible. :( But at least he didn't die! (As far as we know.)
Hopefully they're just in recovery or something.
I can’t imagine how scared Droz must have been when he heard his neck crack from D’lo Brown powerbombing him and I don’t know why Owen Hart breaking Stone Cold’s neck is on this list. Stone Cold did continue to wrestle after that incident.
But it greatly shortened his career and was the reason his career ended
Because Stone Cold had his career shortened not ended.
It began his ending
I was thinking the same thing scout Steve Austin, shorted but not ended. In that case must include Seth Rollins and Sting.
as others have said it was the start...i mean the end was 4 years after owens death but sure lets blame him
At this point in time cm punk and Paige have both returned to wrestling, the Owen ending Austin’s career and Goldberg ending Brett’s are both a bit of a stretch in my mind since they both continued to wrestle afterwards. They contributed to their careers being cut short but they weren’t ended at that moment.
You can’t say “ends punk’s career” and “Punk signs with AEW…” it’s one or the other…
We don't know if he's going in a wrestler role he could become a manager like Sting did
Punk did a short thing with ufc
@@HULKING800STEEL That's when he really got hurt. Damn.He got hurt good.
the concussion was definitely not career ending, lmfao. no way he wouldve competed in UFC otherwise.
@@V-for-Vendetta01 Wrestling career =/= UFC/MMA career. Either way, its incorrect now, Punk has since wrestled again.
The Rick Rude one is heartbreaking. The CM Punk one doesn’t look as bad as it sounds. Everything looked in place.
Yeah but it was the straw that broke the camel's back because of the staff infection, Ryback's inexperience, then a concussion that he was probably told wasn't serious as usual. Why punk filed a lawsuit and why the video was evidence he just got tired of the harm being neglected.
I think the CM Punk concussion doesn't look that bad in real time, but in the slow-motion you can see his head bounce off of the matt.
Didn't know you were a doctor?
@@michaelnaramore9310 he was overwork since he came back in June 2013, which cause to frustration to CM Punk

Like who??? Bret keep wrestling after and nobody talks about how undertaker did the same..
As a kid, I always wondered what happened to Droz. He was fun to watch back in the day. So sad to hear after all these years, he got such a serious injury.
If Goldberg and Hart weren't number 1, I would have been shocked.
Umm try mysterio killing someone in the ring?
You kidding? Droz ending up paralyzed was definetly worse.
I was saying Hart and Goldberg should be number 1 simply for the fact that Bret has complained about it for so long and never let it go. I'm not saying he should or shouldn't, but Droz for example forgave D'lo and maybe younger fans wouldn't know that one. Didn't know about Mysterio one.

Jeff Hardy ending Mercury’s career when he jumped on the ladder and broke Mercury’s face, should be a honorable mention

Oh man I remember that one too, brutal!
The career-ending injury of Stone Cold Steve Austin hurts me the most. If Owen Hart didn't do the Piledriver on Stone Cold Steve Austin, he would have still wrestle up until this point
Until this point? He would have been already retire for long time. Even Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit probably would retire before 2011...
@@Itayarav Exactly 2010-2015 is the limit probably.
I just wish Stone Cold came back as a GM or something.
If i was ever in the ring with something and seriously injured or did permanent damage to them, I'd just be ashamed of myself...
On top of the kick Goldberg didn't hold Bret Hart's foot to support him when he went for the figure 4 on the ringpost causing Bret to fall back and smash his head on the concrete.
i was going to say that, goldberg was a disaster
Some of these are very misleading. The Owen Hart piledriver and subsequent injury could definitely have been said to have shortened Austin's career, but didn't 'end' it in and of itself. Most wrestlers who've retired through injury can most like look back at one particular moment that caused it. Edge is here twice as 'ending' soneone's career but no mention of Guerrero ending his, considering it was Guerrero's suplex onto a ladder that broke Edge's neck in the first place.
Sasha’s kick looked unsafe to me. She kicked her with everything she had ,,,
Yeah but the thing was, Paige thought her neck was strong enough abd called the spot, so I think we can assume that Sasha also thought the same.

Kofi ended punks career? Dude went to the ufc and even tho he sucked he still did it now he’s in AEW. His career is fine
Who the hell designed the area around the ring for the Sting/Rude match? That seems perfectly designed to hurt someone
Paige is back and wrestling under her real name in AEW.

This makes me think about those "Don't try this at home" commercials and we still tried it at home. Great video 👍👍
No such incidents occurred.
