Great vid! I grow all my alocasia in self watering pots, but I use a very chunky aroid soil mix to make sure the roots get enough oxygen. They can do really well with the self watering pots. My anthurium also do great in self watering pots, and I wouldn't grow ferns in anything else tbh.
Thanks for the comment! I’ve seen a lot about using pon with plants in self watering pots (especially alocasia). Any thoughts on moving toward semi-hydro?
@@Botanicsandbassets I get the sense you need to be very comfortable with fertilizer to move to a completely inert medium like pon or leca. I think it's great for planty people that like to use a very scientific approach, but I'm just not the type to be measuring quarter teaspoons of CalMag every time I water my plants. Could make for an interesting video though!
@@2muchcoffeeman Hmm interesting. I’ll do some research and see if it’s worth the experiment… for video sake. 😉 Thanks for the convo. Enjoy your weekend!
Beautiful plants. I love the self watering system. I find it does work for most plants.
Thank you for the comment and your input. I’m continue to move that direction.
Have a great weekend!
