Thank you for another informative video. You are one of my top 2 favorite videographers on UA-cam (other is Garden Answer). You hit points that are unique and helpful - much appreciated!
I didn't have any problems with root rot -- it might be an issue if you went too high with the hole. I drilled in about the same position as the drainage hole on AquaPots.
can we always fill the reservoir with the water based synthetic fertilizer(the one they recommend on a weekly basis) for max bloom or it can cause a problem? should it be the normal water\fertilizer ratio since it sucks the water for about a week? thank you :)
@@eyalyatzkan3098 This year I tried it a couple of ways. The easiest for me was to reduce the concentration of the water-soluble fertilizer to 1/3 (with most fertilizers that means 1/3 a scoop per gallon). I estimated the amount, so if it was a little over 1/3, I didn’t worry about it. Then I used the fertilized water every time I filled the reservoir. The other way I tried… once a week I would top-water (like a regular container) with the recommended dose of fertilizer in the water.
@@UpNorthGardenMI did you see a difference between the two methods in the results? Should we add a slow release fertilizer to the soil as well or it will be too much for the plants? Thank you for answering I appreciate it🙂
@@eyalyatzkan3098 there wasn’t a noticeable difference - however, there were times after heavy rains when I felt the soil was extra saturated, so I would skip the top-watering method. So it felt like putting the fertilizer in the reservoir was possibly more consistent. I don’t think adding time-release to the soil will improve the plant performance if your consistent with water-soluble fertilizer. Many people put time-release pellets into the reservoir, but when I did that, I didn’t feel like I had a way to know when I should add more.

Yes, thank you..had no clue how those things worked
Happy to help.

By drilling the drainage hole above the base of the stoppage plastic, looks like it can cause root rot
