I met Tarsem at a Mubi event in Istanbul and had my Blu-Rays signed. He is an incredibly kind and humble person. He took care of each and every one of the 200+ people that filled the event area.
Fell in love with this movie when I saw it in theaters. Bummed out it never got proper recognition, but hopeful with it released on streaming that more people will get to see it and its heartbreaking beauty. It so perfectly intertwines a child’s imagination with that of the real world. I bought it on DVD when it came out, and ended up getting the German Blu-ray on eBay. Crossing my fingers for a physical 4K release soon 🤞🤞
I had the unique pleasure of seeing The Fall in theaters during its original run and it truly was an amazing experience. It has stayed in my mind, and soul for decades with a sense of every frame and phrase burned in to me. It's thoughtful, kind, but also challenging, passionate, and authentic at times. I'm incredibly excited to see this 4K version and will be completing my 4K home theater upgrade including a new cinema projector.
Masterpiece of a movie. Tarsem’s labour of love. Truly makes me grateful to be alive to be able to watch this movie. It demands a large screen home theatre experience.
I'm grateful I saw this twice when it was originally screening theatrically. I purchased it on BluRay some years ago too. I saw that it was getting limited theatrical runs recently but unfortunately I missed those screenings. It is such an amazing film. Reading the article about HOW it was made blew my mind. As one of my friends and former coworkers described it (back at the time when it was originally in theaters) paraphrasing: "I love it, but I left the theater sad, because I realized I would never see another film that is as beautiful as what I just watched."
I just watched it today. I decided to watch it only to look at Lee as I am binging his movies but from the moment the movie starts I knew this will be one of those movies I will never stop talking about. I've never seen these kind of movies in such a long time. What you did is such a masterpiece. I'm kind of mad at myself for not knowing this movie until now.
Ive watched it more than 5 times now. I first heard about it from my sister and she could recite almost all the lines in the movie and when i watched it there was no going back. I rewatched it 2 weeks back and enjoyed it even more.... ❤
I watched the film back in 2006 in the theater (probably thanks to Roger Ebert), but oh, I had my own opinions. WILDLY FANTASTIC. It is an homage to movie-making and story telling. The backdrops across the world. Are you kidding??? And then this little girl who speaks a strange form of English. I don't even like kids, but this kid .... entranced me. I have seen The Fall 10+ times, because I am lucky enough to own the Blu-Ray CD. I pound the table for this film all the time and the fact that it is now being re-released is wonderful and well-deserved. Please, everyone, watch this film. I am going to say it ranks right up there with Wizard of Oz (my favorite film of all time). I could never tire of this film.
Wasn’t the biggest fan of this film but after founding out he went nearly bankrupt over I have to give him major respect. Anyone who does that, regardless of the out is admirable. Love the cell. Will check this out again. Def a criterion title I feel
I dicovered the Fall trough the Cell. Someone i look up to recommended that one and i was amazed at how creative and imaginative that film is. But man, The Fall blew me away. Go watch it, you will like it.
One of my favorite directors & movies of all time. The visuals he provides are impeccable. Unfortunately, the things I love about what he does fade off after this movie. I kept looking for those signature transitions in Self/Less but there were little to none there.😞 I wish he would get back to that magic he had with The Cell & The Fall...
Im starting to think that mayby i shoud write my master degree about this 🤣 The only shame i have is that i have not seen this movie earlier in my life. I am very attracted to color telling i this film, and the symetry/ structure of the shot. This movie have Such a unice unspoken climate, it was so hypnotyzing
I just watched it on MUBI and it is gorgeous but not in a self-indulgent way: it’s deeply touching, and the bond between Roy and Alexandria is beautiful.
I also met him on April at Istanbul Film Festival, and kinda introduced him Letterboxd with my question :) ( ua-cam.com/video/6AHXk-0O6Bo/v-deo.html , my question is at around min 48). He was great as usual and Tarsem was in Istanbul for "Dear Jassi" which was released at the 43rd Istanbul Film Festival. He had a wonderful conversation with his fans and cinema lovers at Salon IKSV before the movie premiere. He answered all the questions sincerely. With his modesty and sincerity, he impressed all the participants not only with his movies but also with his character.
This director should return to that fantasy/nightmare aesthetic, he should collaborate with Alejandro Jodoroskowski for one of his films like The Incal or with Lynch at the end of Twin Peaks, it retains a lot of that surrealist style.
There is already so much negative thinking in the world, there is no need to mention the bad comments here. I follow the Letterboxd UA-cam page to be happy.
IIRC, Roger Ebert's review of this movie was perfect, ~ "You should see this movie because it exists. And there will never be another like it."

We were together then :)
Hell yeah 🙏

Tarsem is one of the very best director's whose work I've seen.
What was accomplished in The Cell will never been seen again on screen.
THE FALL saved my life. Thank you.
to honor tarsem and letterboxd i will rewatch this movie 🙏🏿 i strongly feel that review of having to knock door to door to spread the word lmaooo
Tarsem deserves so much better than what he was given , he is AN ARTIST
One of my favourite film. I have lost count how many times I have watched it and each time it just gets better.
Everyone, go watch this film. It is stunning. The 4k restoration is brilliant, so glad I caught it in theaters this week

One of my favorite films of all time, thank you Tarsem ❤
THE FALL is Pure Art. Art in every detail.
So happy it’s finally available for streaming!!!
Favorite film of all time. Genuine. Sweet. wildly imaginative. Alexandria....love her.
Tarsem, this picture is the only one I've seen that captures the deep beauty, pain, and ultimate transcendence of real heartbreak. Thank you!!!
A desert island film for me. Thrilled that I'm going to be able to see this on the big screen this afternoon.
the best fantasy film of the past 20 years. lee's performance is iconic
Tarsem is a legend!! We need more movies from him! ❤

So grateful Mubi got this online and available to watch. Been waiting to see this movie for nearly 15years....100% worth the wait.
Please Tarsem release a physical 4K disc! I don’t care the price just give it to us!
Best shot movie ever !!!!❤🙏🏻
I hope Tarsem writes a book about the experience of filming it.
I literally cannot love a movie more than I love this one.
The Fall is a MASTERPIECE in filmmaking!
My favourite movie of many years. It means something different to me every time I watch it.

Thanks to Utube , the creators and the many loving comments I am getting this for Christmas.
I am so excited!❤❤

The movie was way ahead of its time
Just watched it at a local theatre tonight, after not seeing it for a while, and it was BEAUTIFUL.

Such a great film!
A wonderful movie to be seen on Big screen for its glory to unfold mesmerizing
Masterpiece i want it in all platforms!!
just watched it on mubi. i’ve seen stills from scenes but had no idea about the plot. i need to watch this every year from now on❤
crazy coincidence i just saw a review of this on here this week
I think this movie got an award at the maui film festival when it first came out. One of my all time faves and glad i bought the dvd years ago.❤
I always loved The Cell.
Same!
Sad we’ll never have another Tarsem/Eiko collaboration.
Wasn’t the biggest fan of this film but after founding out he went nearly bankrupt over I have to give him major respect. Anyone who does that, regardless of the out is admirable.

This film is a prime example of why buying physical media is important
Wish we got to see him react to bad reviews 😆🤷🏻♂️

If you go to the top 60 reviews on Letterboxd the lowest score you'll find is three and a half stars. There's few bad reviews
silent hill 3
You want Tarsem to direct Silent Hill 3?
I hated that movie
