- Conversations Career Q&A with Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Hobbit Trilogy) currently starring in Angels in America, moderated by Broadway World's Richard Ridge of "Backstage with Richard Ridge!"
Lee Pace was last seen on Broadway in Larry Kramer’s seminal, Tony Award-winning play, The Normal Heart. He starred in the Off-Broadway production Small Tragedy, which garnered him an Outstanding Actor Lucille Lortel Award nomination, as well as in the two-character play Guardians for which he was also nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award. As a member of Group 30 in Juilliard’s Drama Division, Pace starred in multiple school productions of Romeo & Juliet, Richard II and Julius Caesar. On screen, he was most recently seen in the box office blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy as the intergalactic villain Ronan the Accuser, and in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy as the Elf King Thranduil. On the small screen, Pace is most notable for his starring role in Bryan Fuller’s award-winning and critically-acclaimed series Pushing Daisies, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe and Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor. Pace has just wrapped the fourth and final season of AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire. His breakout role in the Sundance hit Soldier’s Girl earned him a Gotham Award, as well as his first nomination for a Golden Globe and an Independent Spirit Award. The Peabody Award-winning film followed the true story of a transgendered woman dating a U.S. soldier. His other film credits include Doug McGrath’s Truman Capote memoir/biography Infamous opposite Toby Jones, Sandra Bullock and Daniel Craig; Robert De Niro’s CIA drama The Good Shepherd opposite Matt Damon; visionary director Tarsem Singh’s The Fall, which premiered at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival; Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day opposite Amy Adams and Frances McDormand; the Tom Ford directorial debut A Single Man opposite Colin Firth and Julianne Moore; Max Winkler’s Ceremony opposite Uma Thurman; Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln; and the nomadic vampire Garrett in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2. I wish Lee Pace would have a podcast, because I could listen to him talk and explain his thoughts for hours. He's so full of passion and love for the arts and so humble, plus his voice is just delightful
Whenever I am depressed, I just watch this video. His voice and his smile are so soothing and peaceful!!
This man is an absolute treasure.
he might not have a podcast but hes in a few! i just searched his name in spotify and there was a recent podcast on aug 4
I agree!
When someone asks if anyone can be manly and adorable simultaneously, please direct them to Lee Pace. Such a great actor and beautiful human being!
Richard Ridge is very good interviewer he gives Lee Pace a chance to talk freely
I was thinking the same, the guy is not only nailing the questions, but letting the guest actually speak and expand his thoughts. Really not very common!
His voice is velvet
Such a good interviewer! Lee Pace despite of being an excellent actor is so self-critical and can laugh at himself - very precious skills which make him pleasant and interesting to listen to.
What an excellent description of the man. Good job. I have to go restart my heart now before I keel over from my heart exploding.
Finally an interview that is not cringeworthy and actually gives the ppl an opportunity to say what they think. He seems so down to earth, humble and normal especially knowing that acting like Thranduil/Empire or Joe Macmillan is within his wheelhouse. Great actor, so diverse, haven't seen a bad performance from him. I was really blown away when i watched pushing daisies right after the Hobbit- he was so convincing and compelling in both and those were 2 so very different characters - amazing. He also has an amazing voice, i wish there was an audiobook that he had read
Why didn’t his credits include The Fall??? Stunning movie. A must see! If you haven’t, go see it. He and the little girl are amazing together on screen. And the scenery is unlike anything else
Same I was wondering. It's my favourite movie and Lee is amazing in it
32:00
He is so beautiful but I think the highlight of his beauty are his eyes and eyebrows. His eyes are very captivating, it's expressive. This is one of the reasons why his characters are always on point. He was able to gave justice to all of his characters. He is one of the greatest actors ever existed not to mention one of the hottest/beautiful human I've seen. Majestic Thranduil will be my Elvenking forever.🥰
He seems so down-to-earth, like a next-door neighbor or high school teacher.
ikr🥺
Well, I'm glad that he is an actor and not a teacher because if he had been my high school teacher there is no way I would have been able to do well in his subject due to lack of focus ;-D
If he were my teacher I would not lost a single class :》
LEE PACE'S VOICE IS JUST AMAZING....HE HAS THE SEXIEST VOICE THAT I HAVE EVER HEARD MY WHOLE LIFE
Very ASMR
I adore Lee Pace! I've been following his career for a long time. His performances are always outstanding! He commands every scene he's in. In interviews, you can see he's a bit shy, but intelligent and definitely talented. Loved him as Thranduil, but also his role in Soldier's Girl. Heartbreaking!
In Halt & Catch Fire he is absolutely phenomenal. Love this man!
Year 2023 and I have only just discovered him. Watching Halt & Catch Fire TV Series (2014). What an amazing actor not to mention those eyes and the voice OMG Now I can't wait to get started on his new series 'Foundation'
@@ivanbraidi Same here
Could he be more adorable?
i'll have what he is having. lol. very chatty
ikr
No. No, he could not.
I hope not, it already hurts too much.
He is so thoughtful and sensitive
I can listen to his voice all day. Those eyebrows, sharp but sexy gaze, soulful voice and grandeur physique is what makes him perfect for Thranduil. He was born to be Thranduil and so as Thranduil was made just for him. He's just perfect!🥰
He's an excellent actor and an adorable person.
he 's so sensitive and in touch with people, i love that about him. The interviewer was great aswell, you could see how enthusiastic he was
I wish there were more of such indepth interviews with Lee, because he's so fascinating to listen to. And charming as always ❤
His laugh is everything. 💙
So much sensitivity, my heart... as soon as I knew he keeps a journal, I know Lee is someone that feels deeply. I love this interview so much, like seeing his soul laid bare
bare 😃😃😃😃😃
I love the sound of his voice. 😊
Halt and catch fire is such an underrated show. When it was on Netflix I would rewatch every year and every time I'd be bummed when it was over.
I love his acting skills and personality. He is perfect... And very tall 😝
Yes, he is 6 feet 5 inches tall.
I am a shy person and sometimes awkward in the midst of many people. Looking at this interview is like seeing my self , how we are sensitive but in other side we also wanna tell what we feel.
But at the same time i also can see the other side of Lee Pace and his beauty of personality. I wish happiness always be with him.
He is a pure heart. He´s just in the moment.
There needs to be more men like Lee Pace. ❤️🙌🏻 I love this guy
Science please. Develop cloning to such an extent that you can create more manly/sensitive/shy/kind/beautiful men like Lee Pace. He's a rarity. Really appreciate his work and him.
He's so earnest and real.
His voice 😍
Lee can take u to anothor world by just talking ❤😍😍
tkaa tkaa Can't agree more
this is the most amazing interview, his freedom to speak and his laughs are so contagious
My favorite interview of him. He looks relaxed, soft and really happy here. Love seeing and hearing him laugh esp at 16:45 to 24:47
What a beautiful man inside and out I can listen to him the whole time so versatile, a great sense of humour as well as being shy and he is so sweet when he blushes and he is such a good actor, he takes on challenges and he nails it😊
It's so nice seeing him talk freely. This interview is different than the others
He looks always so shy... And that's why I love him! Pure person
The honesty of this interview and of this man is beautiful and mind-blowing.
Just look at his eyes when he's talking about his favourite roles: they are sparkling! Best Lee's interview ever.
Lee talking about his impostor syndrome really squeezed my heart, I'm constantly having that exact feeling like "these people are going to find out I'm not really good at this at some point" but somehow I'm still here! working! as an artist!
What an enchanting man. “Be there for yourself”, I love it.
I could watch this for a 1000 times and still find it amazing XD Lee Pace deserves so much recognition than he gets, he's such and incredible actor
Feel great seeing him happy and joyful. Stay always happy, Lee. you deserve a happy and beautiful life. Love from India.
Wow, what an interview! Two months ago I didn’t even know who Lee Pace was. Then I saw the Hobbit on TV and was blown away by Thranduil. I’ve been trying to catch up since, most recently seeing The Fall and Foundation. This interview gave a lot of insight into who he is.
Same!!
He's an amazing actor and you can see and hear the passion he feels about his job, but when he speaks about the plays he's been in, is when you realize how much he really loves theater.
I can listen to his laughs all the time without getting board 😌
I love him and his voice !!!😍
Lee you are my hero forever ...!❤
This interview is a timeless art, in and of itself. Everything Lee does is beautiful. Lee's gentle tone forever has my heart 💓 and Richard is simply delightful. It's my whale song to fall asleep to at night. Encore, please!
Halt and Catch Fire, anyone??
yes!!!
AdamG1983 Oh yes! One of my favourite tv shows! Joe McMillan is so sexy!
hell yes!
Oh god yes!! Loved that show , so underrated
Yes.
I wish I could give more than one thumbs up, I would give an entire hand, I have seen Lee in most of these roles and he is amazing, he puts such heart in everything. He is a treasure to watch and a pleasure to listen to. He makes you all wish he was your soul mate or true friend.. He is so very handsome and charismatic but his personality seems to draw you in way past that and that's no easy task. I am glad I can appreciate him and watch him. He is brilliant in every role he plays.
This is the first one hour interview that i didn’t skip any moments ! ❤️
hes so incredibly passionate .As an actress, his talking about creativity and depth of emotional thought and intuitive understanding of it, brought me to tears. i hope i get to express myself in those ways professionally some day...
I want to meet him like be his friend, not only to see him once and then never again. He is just so chill and interesting with what I know about him
Cute Sehun profile pic
I love my boyfriend to pieces I wouldn't change him to anyone in the world, except Lee Pace. _(hypothetically)_
Lol Lee is perfection so i won't blame you 😄
Same here. But I adore RCA
+1, Lee Pace is my free card (in case it could happen, my husband wouldn't mind lol)
Oh gosh, same...
@Kaian凯安 he confession himself as a "veer" , i don't know it mean he can attracted and interested in all genders or something.
And at 2019 he openly show has new relationship with a guy from fashion world name Matthew Foley
And that time my heart was broken 😅😭😭,
I'm so in love with his character as Thranduil, the elven king ,,, and i know Lee is not the same with Thranduil,,,he actor who only played the role,
but ,,, i can't separate them 😁😆 So, that fact still makes me have different way to see Thranduil,,, is not the same anymore 😢😢
Halt and catch fire brought me here , amazing Lee Pace and the whole casts , addictive serial
Lee is congenial. He loves his job as an actor. I would like to have an interview with him...could be very interesting
I have to say that this is such a great interview. I normally watch very few interviews because they kind-of feel on the spot and forced with a touch of joking around in them, which is alright but it just doesn’t seem authentic. This interview, however, is so real and passionate. If feels more like a deep conversation with friends. Such a welcoming change from your typical interviews.
I just love Lee.... his laugh makes me warm inside. Liked the interview, still, I like everything this man does.
no one is as inspired to change things now days we need lee pace to give inspirational talks to computer geeks to get them to change the world! You can be more, you should be more...
His face is always red, sooooooo cute!I love you lee❤️❤️
He doesn't blush, he turns into a radish just like me. I love it. 😆🥰
its so relaxing listening yo his voice, and the way he laugh is so adorable i really love this guy❤️
My handsome Lee.. 😁😁😍😍😍
Great actor, one of the best going today. 🙏🏾🙏🏾😎😎
This is the best interview I have ever seen! Lee is so amazing I have no words to describe. I first knew about him on Pushing Daisies and thank you world for that! Because of it I got to watch The Fall and that is my ultimate favorite movie. Since then I've watched a lot of Lee's movie and just fell in love more with him. This interview just opened even more my heart.
His voice is deep and nice
The interview is just brilliant! I’ve watched it so many times, but I do enjoy it every time. Lee is such an insightful and genuine person: a great pleasure to watch him.
Amazing Actor
He is so unique
What a difference between theatre Lee at interviews and Marvel Lee at interviews! :3 He is SO adorable here!
He always seems tense and ll at ease in thos interviews. Like maybe he doesn't feel he can be his real self?
Amazing actor... and wow - interview shows he puts his all into everything! 🔥
I wish I could have seen him onstage.
I'm broke as a joke and can't afford to see plays :'(.
I love Lee!
I just absolutely truly love Lee's sensibility and introspective. The way he analyze life feelings and even human purpose. There is goodness in his way of seen life and the world and that shows through his performances. This is a good interview done at the perfect time on his carrier.
He is precious!
This is the best interview with Lee Pace ever! He was just so relaxed and open and shared so much about his experience as an actor with us! Wow! Now I really need to see him on stage when he's on Broadway again. Hold my beer, I'm coming!
Yeah, of course, if this pandemic thingy is over soon. But I'm definitely coming!
Lee Pace, I think I am falling in love with you and your voice 🥵
I was so happy to discover so many comments about his voice 😊
I fell in love with him in the film “Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day.”
The signs of aging are start visible on his face here ,,, but he also sort of has an innocent side ,emotional, gentle and sensitive
Just keeps getting better.
Wow what an interview! Deep, genuine, and no less entertaining. I stumbled upon it during a period of renewed obsession with Lee (searching for his role Brother Day in "Foundation") and I got so much more than I ever imagined. I watched 52.00-57.00 for so many times and it made me want to just go on a trip to NY to just experience something that, even if it can’t be the same play. It led me to discover many other wonderful interviews with praiseworthy actors too.. Lee as well as this channel deserve more recognition and appreciation but in a way, truly heartfelt appreciation is way better
he's simply the best!
Lee is 💚💚💚
I just wanted to have a look in the very long interview, but I can't stop watching. So kind and humble. It's a joy to watch it. I knew he's a wonderful person, but this touched my heart even more! 🥰
His blushing makes me want him even more 😍😚
Love you Lee! You are the best

10:03 😭 Can't loose the feeling he really experienced that...omg he said that so emotionally, nearly made me cry😔
My mad fangirl mind thinks he talks about Richard Armitage😂😂😂 well that doesn't matter anymore. I heard Lee is very happy at the moment with a certain fashion executive😏😘
@@teags72 His boyfriend's name is Matthew Foley.
Wonderful interview but gosh, you guys only spent like 5 min on Halt And Catch Fire, it’s not nearly enough !
omg.. such an amaaaazing interview!!! thank you ;)
I am so inlove with him. Help meeeee! 😭🥰
Who else came here after falling in love with this ridiculously amazing man while watching Halt and Catch Fire
I knew Pushing Daisies but didn't really put together that this Lee Pace guy was the actor in all these roles until Halt and Catch Fire just. Blew. My. Mind. Pace brought the charismatic but monstrous Joe McMillan through an evolution that would have been unbelievable in the hands of many actors. The actors who play Cameron, Donna, Bos (my darling), and Gordon are toe-to-toe with Pace in living these parts so deeply, I felt (and still feel, to some extent) like they're people I know. Thanks to all of you actors and the writers who gave you those lines!
He's so soft spoken. How did he played ronin that good
I want that host to be my hype man.
I love him 💙
He is a fluff ball that I want to squeeze
