These people are on the receiving end of payment for services and can tell you who the companies are that drag their feet regarding payment. One body man told me, " Avoid the big advertizers ". We just switched from Erie to State Farm in WV. With car and house bundled saved $800 on the year. $600 of that was on the car insurance. Age 54 and 49. We also have an 18 year old on our policy. Shocked the crap out of me. Was with Erie for 35 years. 2 claims over the entire time and both were windshields and were 25 years apart.
Nothing changed from last year. The Hartford raised my policy from $1060 to $1359 a 22% increase is unacceptable. Not a ticket or accident ever. Perfect credit and driving score.😡
The Hartford just raised mine from 1350 to 1875. Why? No tickets or accidents so I called them. The only explanation was that they are catching up with the other insurance companies and raised rates accordingly. WHATTTT?

All insurance companies have raised their prices and there are 2 main reasons for this. 1 the value of your car and 2 the zip code you live in. Year over year the value of most cars have gone up so check kbb for your specific vehicle. You can also look at your States website for statistics for car theft, hit and runs and vandalism in your zip code.
When I was nineteen and needed car insurance, I went to Allstate to get a quote. As soon as I asked the agent for a price, he laughed loudly at me and told me "we won't even touch you!". "Can't help you." I left promptly and have never considered them again for coverage. Very bad customer service and attitude.
It's crazy that in JAPAN who really wants less cars on the road and you have to get two separate insurances with biannual inspections is still almost half as expensive total for similar vehicles. US insurance companies have gone wild.

I'm a retired military veteran and served about 26 years. Retired in 2004 or 20 years ago with military pension. USAA is a terrible company as they feed off of military personnel. I have consulted and talked with many USAA employees/customer service and managers trying to get affordable and reasonable rates as does not matter for Auto Insurance, Home Loan-mortgage, Car Loan, refinancing just terrible. Never bank with USAA or obtain a Credit Card because they are not FDIC covered. Several Hundreds of people have submitted Fraudulent Claims on money they did not spend and USAA brushes them off. USAA is not operated or owned by military individuals, it just a company catering to Military personnel and stealing their money. For banking needs NFCU - Navy Federal Credit Union is better. Problem with NFCU is lack of branches - satellite offices to go to and no ATMs. Many were located on Military Bases but with closures of bases dating back to the 1990s it's difficult to have that Walk-In-the-Door customer relationship. Basically, all transactions are remotely done aka Internet or Online. It is discouraging, once you are above the age of 55 or 60 or 65 depending on Insurance Company your Premium will increase because you are considered to be a Senior Citizen or Old person. "AGE DISCRIMINATION". You can be the safest driver in the world. Issues with old people getting into an accident are severity of injuries, longevity of treatment and care and hospitalization, old people tend to die easily. This means the Insurance Company pays a lot in medical bills, other loses, and death payment. Old people are considered the Safest Drivers group statistically but at high risk of dying in a car accident so the cost is high. Auto Ins. Premium will continue to rise - increase once you are old. It Doubles when you reach 80 plus. My parents and in-laws tell me this. Most All Insurance Companies do not have Veteran Discount or Senior Citizen discount. If you are a First Responder, they may deem you as a Risky person just because you are more of a hurry to save someone's life moving through traffic and that could increase your premium. Farmers Insurance Group auto insurance is the Highest Cost almost 2 to 3 times higher quote than any other. Try AAA. I have Allstate Platinum Plan and yes! not cheap. State Farm offers me less incentives and would cost me $400 to $500 more per year than AllState. I don't have much faith or trust in Progressive or Geico, receive nice low offer. It's like a 1st Time Sign On Bonus ... see a nice discount "dangle the carrot" or "entice you" then when you file a claim or get your Renewal Policy rates go up and up. My brother uses an Independent Agent to keep his costs down and over the years he is cover by a lot of Mom and Pop Small Insurance firms as long as his agent finds low cost with full coverage. My brother pays less than $1,000 per year. Myself I have 2 new vehicles (2022 Honda Civic Touring and 2023 Camry XSE V6) with wife on policy and now it's costing close to $3,500 per year as I recall 30 years ago was more like $1,600 for 2 cars. Heard Hybrids and EVs cost are higher due to repair costs. Naturally Aspirated aka Gasoline Engines or ICE as they calling it your Ins. cost are lesser than Hybrid or EV. I don't like Hybrids and never believe in EVs so never bought them. Hope you have managed to find something suitable.
Older driver here with the Hartford for the last 10 years, no accidents, no speeding tickets, and I don't consume alcohol. I went from $88 per month to $109. All that didn't matter to them, I sure gave them an ear full both in English and may native tongue (Spanish.) I'm looking elsewhere.
It is nice that there is no speeding ticket and othér negatives. The true PROBLEM for you and them is inflation. Three years ago, the COST of left front fender for my car was $277. Now, it is $458. Medical bills are, on average, 50% higher than three years ago. Uninsured Motorists coverage is more because more people are driving around while NOT insured . That puts you and your insuror at a higher risk. My opinion is that 15 - 20% of the owners/ drivers should not be on public roadway EVER. Good luck finding a way to get them off our roads. You can probably raise the deductibles and save some. Also, if your auto policy is not combined with your homeowners or rental insurance, that may be an option. (I carry higher than average deductibles In both) If you are open to advice, GO (not phone) to an Independent Insurance agent. Set an appointment, of course. Take your Policy or policies with you. Bring along a writing tablet, pens and written questions No need to yell at anyone...they have no control over the rising costs.

You pay a small premium and the insurer hopes you dont get into an accident. I’m currently with farmers insurance. One of My Co workers wife works in the insurance industry she told Me Cincinnati insurance is a A+ company. We compared them with Cincinnati insurance there was a price difference for the same coverage I currently have !

I have Travelers Insurance for my car. I was rearended, and wanted to know if my Premium would increase if I went throught them instead of the Insurance of the liable party. After four conversations I finally discovered that if they had to pay a medical bill the premium would increase for five years, they were unable to tell me by what amount even though I knew the medical bill would likely be less than $1000.00 If the vehicle damage was under $1000.00 and no injuries involved my premium would be unlikely to increase unless for other factors, such as Credit rating, and/or Travelers increasing the cost of Ins. in general to be in keeping with cost of living. They would give me the option of taking the car to the place of my choice to have the repair done. I am opting to claim on my on the other person's policy.
I found trying to follow you was difficult. Seems you skipped around too much and I would lose track of which company you were talking about was bad. Maybe keep on one company, (good and bad), then move on and not go back and forth.

I like the idea of calling Geico getting insurance immediately and getting the best price and not trying to sell me anything I don't want they also are one of very few that will ensure a motorhome without first ensuring a car
I have been with State Farm for about 25 yrs, I have both auto and home, I have never had a problem with them. When I was living at my other house a pin hole leak developed in one of the pipes, which caused the carpet and padding to be saturated. When I contacted my agent, he said we were not having this conversation and if we continued he informed me that my homeowners would go way up or they would drop me. We're paying all of this money to insurance companies for what, to have our rate go sky high or be dropped when we need to make a claim.
Older driver here. Older vehicle as well. No accidents. No tickets, Nothing in clams for at least 25 years except for a couple of windshields. Tried quotes from most of the companies listed in this video and State Farm came in with the best rate. However, they have raised my premium every six months! Plus, after I used road service a couple of times (in 18 months), they sent me a really snarky letter.... I called their bluff and told them to cancel me if it was that big of a deal, and ....they didn't... To offset the premium increases, I just keep lowering the limits of my coverage. Also, why don't companies do a 12-month equal pay plan? SF is the only one I found that does.
A lot of companies do 12 equal payments or 6 monthly payments for 6 month policies. We’re in what is called a hard market for insurance and a lot of these companies are doing larger first payments to slow the business coming in. Some have paused the 12 pay plans as well. It could be the location, your insurance score or some other factor that is offsetting the payment options.
@@ThinkInsurance Actually, I encountered just the reverse with GEICO and Progressive. They would write the policy for a very small amount, and then the remaining five-month payments were higher. As an example, a $700 policy. Equally, it would be $116 and some change. Nope. They do something like $50 down and then $130 for the remainder of the term. Why do they do that? As for a 12-month policy, I haven't seen one of those since the 90s.!
@Support_Ad_Blocker Each company does it different. It’s a way to either make it easy or difficult to purchase the policy. They even switch it to pay in full for some people depending on the risk profile.

I have to laugh every time Amica or some other company sends me junk mail saying that their average customer saved more than $XXX dollars by switching; when the amount they claim saved is more than my entire policy! Also, State Farm has a really nasty rental car policy. It's an 80/20 deal. Never seen any other company with that. Something you don't really think about *until you have to use it.*

State farm covered the other drivers and both times they called me to ask what happened, as soon as I identified myself their rep said we are not going to pay for this and that. So I did what I'd hoped I would not need to do, get a lawyer. The lawyer made them pay more than I even expected because it was proven they tried to screw me over.
I wonder if these companies who offer and use types of “safe driving” apps may ever use the information they collect to determine liability if you are in a crash? Has anyone had experience with that?
AAA is ok. They’re better than a lot of companies, they just have old rules and systems last time I interacted with them. That’s more headache for the agent which can affect your billing etc… just errors and fixing this and that. Overall they have very poor ratings over the last 2 years which scares me slightly. From my experience they lack training for their agents which is scary.
They don’t show up in most reports because they are too small. They only insure certain states. There’s not much data but most places give them bad reviews across the board from bad service, claims, to lots not caring about their customers etc…

Great question. Geico wasn’t a top 10 company this year. I bet if I did a top 15, they would show up 😉. They cut their marketing budget drastically a couple of years ago and all though you don’t see as many commercials, they were very profitable last year. They also started letting independent agents get appointed to sell them so that will make a big impact if that opens up more. I have a feeling we’ll see them show up more often in a year or two.
Switching after a recent accident will make your search more difficult than you might realize. You are a risk and companies will price that accident into their quotes.
My van has a wheelchair lift for my kid. I just got it and I was wondering if the custom parts coverage does cover that since it’s permanent. I didn’t know if it matters that I wasn’t the one that put it on there.
You’ll need to call your agent. A lot of that equipment can be upwards of thousands of dollars and all though some companies will cover it, others require it to be listed as additional equipment

It’s so hard to give an answer without knowing all the details. If he’s visiting, most companies allow permissible use but if they’re denying the claim there is likely something else in play here. Your best option is to call and get clarification from Progressive on why it’s not covered. It’s possible they made a mistake, or consult a personal injury lawyer
I'm leaving USAA in part because their app is the worst. (Mostly because they're tripling our premium for buying a used car, but even if that weren't the case....) The app crashes on my 5G Motorola (with flawless wifi signal) about 5 minutes after opening, then it takes a full phone restart to get it working again. Rinse repeat again and again. And because it was REQUIRED for security confirmation while talking to customer service, that 4 hour call was an absolute nightmare of a experience. 5 thumbs down. So yeah. A good app is, in fact, a real selling point.

I got an $80 COLA increase this year Jan 01, 24. Same month, my Liberty Auto Ins went up $70/mth. That leaves $10/ mth to cover inflation at the gas pump and grocery store. Oh, but not really because garbage pick went from $60 qtr to $80 qtr and Termite protection from $81 qtr to $106 qtr. So that's another $12 leving me $2.00 short just to coveer those increeses, not counting the 25-30% increase on groceries and gas. Please, everyone, bring TRUMP back ...drill baby drill, close boarders, make tax cuts permanent, bring back law & order!
Also Liberty Mutual horrible I agree I was in 2 not at fault accidents where I was rear-ended in one and another I was parked in a white line mark parking space where my door was already open while collecting my belongings and the driver ripped my door off and stopped a 1/2 mile past where I was parked speed was a factor by the other driver but that is not my point to Liberty Mutual insurance both accidents Liberty Mutual refused to pay me out and get this both drivers that struck me are insured by Liberty Mutual 😵💫

1:50: My father started a Nationwide-agency in Metro-Detroit in the 70’s. We’re an independent agency now, but Nationwide is still my favorite for claims, AND their home-rates are lowest in the tri-county, their auto-rates are competitive again….but yeah…they’re not wanting business currently…but it is opening up soon. Love Progressive…but you get what you pay for w/ insurance PERIOD. Good carriers have endorsements for more comprehensive coverages, but ppl…read your decs.

I had to finally sue State Farm because every time the claims adjuster came out he said it was a no-brainer and then no FollowUp and they would ghost me. 1 lawyer and I got a check.
Cheapest route is to go under your parents or guardians insurance. You may have to wait until you’re fully licensed before a company will insure you. Some require you to be 18/yrs old. Geico, Bristol West and a progressive tend to be competitive for younger drivers.

I feel like based on the customers preference any company can be great if all the coverage needs are met for what ever that person considers the right price . Insurance is the transfer of risk ,the underwriters determine the rates based off the coverage selections of the customer and how high the risk may be of them having to pay out those over all limits . So the way you find the best company is by knowing what you need when it comes to coverage and what those coverages include at each company to assure your insurance needs are met .
@@aerostar9376 I was trying to get additional health insurance for my wife because the place where she worked closed down and her unemployment had ran out. io called them, they sent their agent over and he offered me a policy that costs twenty dollars a month, and all the policy offered was ten dollars a say max benefit. I told the agent, interview over. It was a long time ago, but it stuck with me. They must have done a number to their customers because they no longer had an office in our town much longer after that. I hope they do you much better than us, it may have been an agent issue. Car insurance might be better, I do not know.

EMT here. I'm saving about $80/month on insurance from mercury because i'm an EMT. It's because we have additional specialized training to handle emergency vehicles in an emergency and are trained to drive with "due regard". We're also trained to keep people alive after car crashes. Both Save insurance companies much money and they know it.

Myself I have 2 new vehicles (2022 Honda Civic Touring and 2023 Camry XSE V6) with wife on policy and now it's costing close to $3,500 per year as I recall 30 years ago was more like $1,600 for 2 cars. Heard Hybrids and EVs cost are higher due to repair costs. Naturally Aspirated aka Gasoline Engines or ICE as they calling it your Ins. cost are lesser than Hybrid or EV. I don't like Hybrids and never believe in EVs so never bought them. Hope you have managed to find something suitable.
Older driver here with the Hartford for the last 10 years, no accidents, no speeding tickets, and I don't consume alcohol. I went from $88 per month to $109. All that didn't matter to them, I sure gave them an ear full both in English and may native tongue (Spanish.) I'm looking elsewhere.
It is nice that there is no speeding ticket and othér negatives. The true PROBLEM for you and them is inflation.

You pay a small premium and the insurer hopes you dont get into an accident. Lately insurers have been paying out more than what they are collecting which is why they are either charging more or no longer taking on new risks.

I’m currently with farmers insurance. One of My Co workers wife works in the insurance industry she told Me Cincinnati insurance is a A+ company. We compared them with Cincinnati insurance there was a price difference for the same coverage I currently have !

Allstate customer for 30 years. Yes VERY EXPENSIVE. But it's just now tipping the scales for us because their increases for auto are not 'sustainable' for us anymore. We will have to call you I think.

I have Travelers Insurance for my car. I was rearended, and wanted to know if my Premium would increase if I went throught them instead of the Insurance of the liable party. After four conversations I finally discovered that if they had to pay a medical bill the premium would increase for five years, they were unable to tell me by what amount even though I knew the medical bill would likely be less than $1000.00 If the vehicle damage was under $1000.00 and no injuries involved my premium would be unlikely to increase unless for other factors, such as Credit rating, and/or Travelers increasing the cost of Ins. in general to be in keeping with cost of living. They would give me the option of taking the car to the place of my choice to have the repair done. I am opting to claim on my on the other person's policy.

I found trying to follow you was difficult. Seems you skipped around too much and I would lose track of which company you were talking about was bad. Maybe keep on one company, (good and bad), then move on and not go back and forth.

I like the idea of calling Geico getting insurance immediately and getting the best price and not trying to sell me anything I don't want they also are one of very few that will ensure a motorhome without first ensuring a car

I have been with State Farm for about 25 yrs, I have both auto and home, I have never had a problem with them. When I was living at my other house a pin hole leak developed in one of the pipes, which caused the carpet and padding to be saturated. When I contacted my agent, he said we were not having this conversation and if we continued he informed me that my homeowners would go way up or they would drop me. We're paying all of this money to insurance companies for what, to have our rate go sky high or be dropped when we need to make a claim.

Older driver here. Older vehicle as well. No accidents. No tickets, Nothing in clams for at least 25 years except for a couple of windshields. Tried quotes from most of the companies listed in this video and State Farm came in with the best rate. However, they have raised my premium every six months! Plus, after I used road service a couple of times (in 18 months), they sent me a really snarky letter.... I called their bluff and told them to cancel me if it was that big of a deal, and ....they didn't... To offset the premium increases, I just keep lowering the limits of my coverage. Also, why don't companies do a 12-month equal pay plan? SF is the only one I found that does.
A lot of companies do 12 equal payments or 6 monthly payments for 6 month policies.
We’re in what is called a hard market for insurance and a lot of these companies are doing larger first payments to slow the business coming in. Some have paused the 12 pay plans as well.
It could be the location, your insurance score or some other factor that is offsetting the payment options.
@@ThinkInsurance Actually, I encountered just the reverse with GEICO and Progressive. They would write the policy for a very small amount, and then the remaining five-month payments were higher. As an example, a $700 policy. Equally, it would be $116 and some change. Nope. They do something like $50 down and then $130 for the remainder of the term. Why do they do that? As for a 12-month policy, I haven't seen one of those since the 90s.!
@Support_Ad_Blocker Each company does it different. It’s a way to either make it easy or difficult to purchase the policy. They even switch it to pay in full for some people depending on the risk profile.

I have to laugh every time Amica or some other company sends me junk mail saying that their average customer saved more than $XXX dollars by switching; when the amount they claim saved is more than my entire policy! Also, State Farm has a really nasty rental car policy. It's an 80/20 deal. Never seen any other company with that. Something you don't really think about *until you have to use it.*

@@richardweimer8460 I have good credit and driving record. But I was in a couple accidents which I was not at fault. State farm covered the other drivers and both times they called me to ask what happened, as soon as I identified myself their rep said we are not going to pay for this and that. So I did what I'd hoped I would not need to do, get a lawyer. The lawyer made them pay more than I even expected because it was proven they tried to screw me over.

AAA is ok. They’re better than a lot of companies, they just have old rules and systems last time I interacted with them. That’s more headache for the agent which can affect your billing etc… just errors and fixing this and that.
Overall they have very poor ratings over the last 2 years which scares me slightly.
From my experience they lack training for their agents which is scary.

Great question. Geico wasn’t a top 10 company this year. I bet if I did a top 15, they would show up 😉.
They cut their marketing budget drastically a couple of years ago and all though you don’t see as many commercials, they were very profitable last year. They also started letting independent agents get appointed to sell them so that will make a big impact if that opens up more.
I have a feeling we’ll see them show up more often in a year or two.

What advice do you need? You need to shop, shop, shop around. The internet makes it easy. You can do it from your bed.
Switching after a recent accident will make your search more difficult than you might realize. You are a risk and companies will price that accident into their quotes.

You’ll need to call your agent. A lot of that equipment can be upwards of thousands of dollars and all though some companies will cover it, others require it to be listed as additional equipment

Unfortunately he drove my car with my permission last july 13th and he got an accident with my wife in son. Progressive denied my claim because my father is not in my policy. It’s so hard to give an answer without knowing all the details. If he’s visiting, most companies allow permissible use but if they’re denying the claim there is likely something else in play here. Your best option is to call and get clarification from Progressive on why it’s not covered. It’s possible they made a mistake, or consult a personal injury lawyer

u mean, "emergency" responders? they rarely respond 1st. they are typically 3rd to respond, behind the reporter , and then the liaison.
I'm leaving USAA in part because their app is the worst. (Mostly because they're tripling our premium for buying a used car, but even if that weren't the case....) The app crashes on my 5G Motorola (with flawless wifi signal) about 5 minutes after opening, then it takes a full phone restart to get it working again. Rinse repeat again and again. And because it was REQUIRED for security confirmation while talking to customer service, that 4 hour call was an absolute nightmare of a experience. 5 thumbs down. So yeah. A good app is, in fact, a real selling point.

I got an $80 COLA increase this year Jan 01, 24. Same month, my Liberty Auto Ins went up $70/mth. That leaves $10/ mth to cover inflation at the gas pump and grocery store. Oh, but not really because garbage pick went from $60 qtr to $80 qtr and Termite protection from $81 qtr to $106 qtr. So that's another $12 leving me $2.00 short just to coveer those increeses, not counting the 25-30% increase on groceries and gas.

1:50: My father started a Nationwide-agency in Metro-Detroit in the 70’s. We’re an independent agency now, but Nationwide is still my favorite for claims, AND their home-rates are lowest in the tri-county, their auto-rates are competitive again….but yeah…they’re not wanting business currently…but it is opening up soon.

Cheapest route is to go under your parents or guardians insurance. You may have to wait until you’re fully licensed before a company will insure you. Some require you to be 18/yrs old.
Geico, Bristol West and a progressive tend to be competitive for younger drivers.

I feel like based on the customers preference any company can be great if all the coverage needs are met for what ever that person considers the right price . Insurance is the transfer of risk ,the underwriters determine the rates based off the coverage selections of the customer and how high the risk may be of them having to pay out those over all limits . So the way you find the best company is by knowing what you need when it comes to coverage and what those coverages include at each company to assure your insurance needs are met .
my rate for farm bureau is currently 80$ a month was paying 60 for Geico but they raised it to 110$ so I switched. I just have liability for 2 cars.

@@aerostar9376 I was trying to get additional health insurance for my wife because the place where she worked closed down and her unemployment had ran out. io called them, they sent their agent over and he offered me a policy that costs twenty dollars a month, and all the policy offered was ten dollars a say max benefit. I told the agent, interview over. It was a long time ago, but it stuck with me. They must have done a number to their customers because they no longer had an office in our town much longer after that. I hope they do you much better than us, it may have been an agent issue. Car insurance might be better, I do not know.

EMT here. I'm saving about $80/month on insurance from mercury because i'm an EMT.
It's because we have additional specialized training to handle emergency vehicles in an emergency and are trained to drive with "due regard". We're also trained to keep people alive after car crashes. Both Save insurance companies much money and they know it.
So you tell them you are EMT and these are the perks?
