car insurance companies are so scammy, the whole market needs ripping up and starting again
Its a 2 ways street. The more theft, the more clains the worse the premium.
Most car insurance companies operate in the red (incur losses), so they charge premiums to bridge their risk.
Statistically speaking, certain demographics of drivers (e.g. younger ones) are more risky to insure than others. If they charged low fees on these type of drivers their losses would be massively inflated.
@@NomadLovesUsim talking more about doubling policy quotes year to year. Putting it on an auto renewal, hoping you wont notice.
@@funny7 good point
They will charge you hundreds more than the year before and when you say i found one hundreds less the seem puzzled. How can they charge you more than the year before and you have had no incidents.
Just had my renewal for my kia picanto, i paid £250 last year, it has come in at £937!!!! Im 54 and been driving for 30+ years, no wonder people dont bother to insure cars these days, its a joke
Thats crazy. I got quoted 1800 for my BMW 225d, I'm 26 been driving 7 years. I paid 700 last year, I haggled and did a lot of shopping about and managed to get it for 1100
Had my license 2 years wrote a van off in a single vehicle accident was paid out and managed to find a policy for £15 more a month than my previous policy with everything declared believe I'm paying £1700 for the year
Im 23 and just got my license and a 1 l car how much do u think its gonna be@@SUSSYMEMES
Car Insurance has now become a scam.
In this country yeah it’s awful. I tell my relatives on the other side of the pond and they are incredulous that we have to pay so much
It’s crazy that they charge us more for a little 15 years old 1 liter banger than they pay for a newer v8 sports car over there. The country is going down the toilet.
Need to sort out insurance prices for the uk it’s bullshit…. So many people can’t afford it
I think its because the goverment are trying to send a subliminal message which is that they want more people to take public transport
Dont forget trying different job titles that match your job it can actually make quite a differences and they categories different job titles at different risk levels
Very informative, the driveway hack is so interesting as i have always assumed the insurer would think the car was safer than at kerb side.
You are correct in your assumption (ex motor claims advisor here) as if your vehicle is parked at the roadside then, it's more likely to be damaged by other vehicles driving past or even just by pedestrians going by.
The insurer does think it’s safer on the drive, i work in car insurance and that is 100% what the insurer thinks
Is that not common sense
But you could easily drive into the fence or post on your driveway, this is how they view risks
Also check different engine sizes for the same car if you're not too fussed. For my first car the 1.4 and 1.6 versions of the car were cheaper to insure than the 1.2. I guess more people buy the 1.2 as a first car as they assume the insurance is cheaper then they get written off or stolen more
Isn't it supposed to be like, the lower the engine the cheaper?
@@SA-mz2mc engine size and thus horsepower is a factor but things like how many have been crashed by who and where you live are big factors. Electric cars have no engine and they are not free to insure haha
@HAYDNBBH that's right, quiet makes sense.
There was a story that someone stole a car with a black box. They drove better than the owner and got their premium down and the insurance company honoured the lower premium 😂
Was a joke about someone having the credit card stolen and didn’t reported back because the thief spent less money than his wife with that credit card. 😂😂😂
One of the biggest scams in this country is the car insurance companies. The majority of my bad headaches are from insurance companies
Yianni keep up the great content 🙌
Wrote my car off when I was 18 , I was 47 on my policy 😅, no idea how I got away with it
What😂
@ak-yl2qc gotta do what you gotta do lol
@@Bradzlfc89 Fair play👏
Brilliant
lol how long ago was this cause that is not working today with the amount of technology insurance use today compared to back then
I added a dashcam, ghost immobiliser and a tracker to the car only to be told by the insurance company the premium comes down by £3!! Seems adding extra security or safety options doesnt seems to make a difference either. Also reachdd out to different insurers for a quote and was not worth the move for the little change it made.
6:11 I would have agreed with that back in the day, back when your renewals got lower providing you had no claims rather than how it is now (they stay the same or go up). I think they just make a figure up these days and hope they'll roll with it.
Weirdly I got a quote on compare the market and it was 3000 cheaper than direct.
I then managed to get a quote for 3700, added my dad on and it came down to 3350.
So I bought the insurance then after getting the policy I then took off my dad and then I got a refund of 866.
Doesn’t even make sense
my mate told me the exact same thing. Was it with Hastings?
Only reason I want insurance is so police dont steal my car & i dont get points and a fine. Couldn't care less about them paying out and covering accidents.
I have lied on every year of my insurance and i have even made 3 claims and been paid out everytime, i have said im a nurse, i have said i only do 1000 miles per year, iv said i park my car on a 'secure carpark' during the day, iv never declared mods 😂 i think next year i am going to tell them im trans, maybe then ill get some more discounts 😂 woooo
Good on you lad, or miss whatever 😂
@@GucciBucketHat you're making me blush 😂

@@Internettoughguy547deffo they’re classed as lower risk
My movement from them matching a better quoted elsewhere was 20 quid lol
Postcode must play a huge part as I've just been insured as the main policy holder on a 2020 fiesta for £1.2k with a blackbox the day I passed my test at 17. I did already have learner insurance with a blackbox on the same car so maybe that made a difference. Either way I would recommend marmalade.
They should have gotten him to see if he can get Yianni's son insured for cheaper. Would have been a really good test
Snapsurance did. £6,900 to £5.700
Great video and magnificently insight full, tbh they should scrap no claims bonuses they should just send you a check back.
not a bad video bro, keep it up bro ❤
Very helpful. Great Video
Keep up the cool vids
Tracker not always a wanted thing by insurance. When quoting on my new golf r, adding a tracker added to the policy.
Hi Yianni, I've got a question. If I'm a new driver and it's my first time insuring, and let's say I pledge 5k miles not knowing how much would I do, and end up doing 6k miles, would my insurance policy be unclaimable? Also, if there was no claim but because I did 6k miles, would my next insurance be expensive?
It's crazy out there huh. Here in zambia they only care about how much your car is worth, age makes no difference, as long as you have a license you are good. And every year your car insurance goes down by 10% if you don't claim in that year.
zambia is not a plantation
like England
It’s legal discrimination. We pay more than women even if we might be better drivers than them. I don’t see them demanding equality when it comes to things like that
Imagine if they asked for your ethnic background and charged black people more because they might be more at risk… why is gender discrimination ok
@amg863 admiral did something like that and got done for it i think. They would ask for nationality and charge more if you're not british
At this point i dont evem care if i get a payout, the way the UK is going i drive a £1000 car thats 4k to insure, i literally only need the legality side of insurance, seriously dont care about the INSURANCE part of it.
I thought its was only me who was getting ripped off.. seems like everyone is. I'm 38 driving 11 yrs with 10 yrs no claims got a little 1.6 1 series and I'm paying these thieves £125 a month. You know your getting robbed if your paying what your car is actually worth in insurance per year.
How do you start you own insurance company
this is the real question 😂😂
Very informative video 👍🏾
Can you recommend a good Tracker plz 🙏🏿
Having worked in insurance up until recently. i can say that cookie's has absolutely nothing to do with the rate of an insurance policy, thats a complete myth. Simple trick, get quotes early, you can get a quote up to a month before your renewal. This will save you money. You dont need to decare a dashcam, however if its visable and gets stolen the insurer may not cover it. The road vs drive way isnt correct at all, however may depend on insurer. The named driver being a female being cheaper isnt correct, infact insurers arent allowed to by law rate differently based on gender. If your saving money having a named driver its because of experience and them being on the policy lowers the risk.
You give insurance companies way too much credit…they will do scummy things but its hidden in their algorithm
@mijr9075 what's hidden in their algorithm, I'm assuming you mean rating. Before you respond, please consider that I've been privy to insurance ratings.
good information ))) some off them i know but not all
I was 19 just passed, bought a Cat S car (BMW 118I M Sport Shadow Edition) Insurance was £1,200. Insurance companies don't care, well Admiral didn't....
tell us you live in Wales without telling us you live in Wales 😂
there are many ways for saving on car insurance: in addition to some of the things you mentioned, new drivers can take a pass plus course and save 20-40% - taking an advance motoring course can also help, having a 2nd driver with experience also works plus a female additional driver. Shopping around in advance, I stick to one of only 2 insurance companies though (this year had only 1 choice as my F Pace is hard to insure now due to keyless car thefts) (went up by 49.4%)
Respect for this one

My new insurance policy is sorted.when i asked why it was going up & dear.he said the cost of living has went up & people struggling 2 pay ..so basically we want 2 rip people of even. More..conmen worse than drug dealers
The mileage stung me on my black box when I first started driving, I set it to 8000 miles probably paid about 1600, ended up having to buy say another 6000 miles and ended up costing me more than getting an insurance policy without a black box
How much did you have to pay

Nope. I’d much rather buy a cheaper car instead of the car you want but the policy you don’t want.
I did that and my friend did what you suggested. I was cool and he had so many issues with them.

It would have costed me more to get a black box about £500 more. i don't know if this if cos I got a older car 2009 1.6 mazda sport saloon. My insurance costed me £1,300 a year I'm 25 passed a couple months ago this is my first car.
£1400 in 2016 as a 17 year old on a Polo 1.4. Its mental how 8 years later im paying similar still... (arguably faster car but should be less).
Declaring a wrap increases insurance by loads and many companies won't even insure you. Any advice on specific insurers ?
Adrian Flux happily insure modified cars that’s who I use. May be more expensive but the mods are replaced like or like in the event of an accident
Adrian flux, green light, Brentacre, Howden insurance, Chris knots, they are not on comparison website, cheaper and will insure modified cars which in some cases is actually cheaper than a standard car 😅 it doesn't make sense I know, I remapped my car and it was £200 cheaper to insure on a specialist car insurance scheme 🤣
I'm 28 and have a BMW 420D and pay £45 a month with a 26 year old female named driver. I was paying £43 a month before my last renewal (February). Adding the named driver made it about £3 cheaper a month.
what insurance company do you use??
@@OmarAhmed-tg8huyeppp goodd question because we know he chatting rubbish unless he in the countryside
insurance in this country is just extortion. as a young driver you have to have it and it’s very expensive. God forbid something happens and you have to claim, the money that the insurance company pays will have to be paid back to them when they raise your new quote after the claim even if it wasn’t your fault. it’s ridiculous how young people are supposed to afford it.
shout out jay
For non everyday cars Custodian Insurance has been amazing.
we lie just so we can have a policy, on a flipping run around car thats barely £1k
insurance is expensive in the south east of England mainly
because everyone from 18 years old to 70 thinks they all deserve to be driving £40k plus cars 😂😂
Cookies are the same as flights and hotels so on. Hot tip 👍
My first car was 07 plate 1.7 litre (I think) 100bhp Astra cost me £1700 3 months was on provisional after a year I changed my car to 1 litre 75bhp 13 plate polo and my insurance shot up to £2500 for the year😂
Putting it in the garage is not cheaper (not for where I live anyway)
It was an extra 175 per year they said its more likely to get stolen in the garage ....doesn't make any sense to me but its cheaper to tell them its parked in front of garage.
The reason is that there's the potential for the car to get damaged inside the garage... BS I know but it is what it is
30 years old, 6 years NCB, 1.2 Corsa from 2011. Lorry driver based in Tamworth. Last year i paid around 600£ at Churchill. My renewal it’s in 2 months, hopefully i will get the same price if not less. Never lied about my insurances, my first car in UK was at 24 and was 1600£ for a 2.0 Peugeot 407.
Honestly i’m thinking that insurance companies should be more regulated by the government, also they need to do something about car thefts. You can’t just don’t solve any cases and rely on the insurers.
Impossible for a young commuter to pay half yearly minimum wage just on insurance. No wonder why people don’t have insurance, staying on benefits or stole cars. Doesn’t make sense to work 6 months just to pay the insurance to guess what? Go to work…
Car insurance is a messy space.
Just watch out if you plan to park your car in a garage. For me case it will be cheaper to leave the car on the driveway than in the garage. If I am to put it in a double garage it will cost me £150 to £200 more! Ridicouos but apparently people are often crashing the car and claiming on their insurance.
I seriously don’t get the idiots who claim on minor damage, pay for it yourself cause you’re affecting everyone else’s premium because “I scratched my X3 while parking”
Yianni says he was burnt buying the insurance for his son because he didn't know all these useful hacks. Please could you confirm how much you would have actually saved if you applied these hacks? Or are you just pressuring that a saving could have been made?

How come you didn’t put your son on your business policy or motor trade yianny? Do you have to be 21 or 25 to be named?
If I get my car warp, will it cost more on my car insurance
Yeah probably because they see you more as a car enthusiast who is more likely to drive fast or crash their car. Its bullshit the amount they charge on top for a wrap
I would never go for a black box ever again I gained max bonus of 40% reduced renewal for them to raise the renewal price by 60% nope unless your very young go for it but waste of time
Your guy forgot to mention fluctuations, if you get a quote day one and don’t like it try again in a week or two the savings can be massive.
Where is ur revuelto????
Car in garage is always more expensive than driveway, makes no sense but it’s how it is
if you do the illegal '' fronting '' they can't prove who drives the car more lol
exactly they have to prove that fronting is taking place by proving that the main driver of the car is different etc. which is very hard to do so unless someone stupidly admits it lol
I’ve always said. Car insurance is daylight robbery !
Some great tips here. You need to play about with everything.
Couple of points tho.
The excess is worth playing about with also.
The difference on my policy this year with a £500 excess and £0 was £12. 🤷🏼♂️
No point in offering up money you don’t need to give them.
Also parked in a garage isn’t always the cheapest either due to people claiming for damage while going in/out of the garage. Get a quote with all options and pick the lowest.
You can also play about with your employment a bit.
For example it was cheaper for me to say I was a Bakery assistant than to say I was a Baker 🤷🏼♂️😂😂
Last year I paid £136 for my M3 with all mods declared 😏
Saying in the road is not better than driveway 😂😂😂😂😂🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
-6k wtf
When they talk about mods, they don't mean upgraded brakes
Most insurance companies give you an allowance of mods without declaring them, like tints, new wheels and headlight upgrades. So I don’t see why you won’t be okay with upgrading brakes.
@@thanusant415 you are OK upgrading brakes, my point is there isn't a price reduction for upgrading safety items on ur car, they just want mods so they can charge u more
@@Martin-ep6xu my bad bro read ur comment with one brain cell
I added a dashcam to my insurasnce making it technically safer as id be recording. They tried to rise the price with fear the £30 dashcam would be stolen 😂
Remember a mod is anything that isn’t factory standard. If you add a sticker to your car, some insurers will see that as a mod and will invalidate your insurance. Even if you change wheels for different wheels of the same make, if they are not specific wheels to your model it’s a mod. Anything to get out of paying out.
Driving in and around London definately doesn't help things. I live in the middle of nowhere in Somerset and drive a 2L Honda Integra DC5 Type R - and I pay £1,200 per year at 20, with 1 year driving history
If I didn't lie about some things on my insurance my insurance would be only £3,500
It's not all lies tho there is some truth to the things
"If you not going to get a payout by the insurer what is the point of getting insurance anyway."
Well you can't drive without it and when it comes to paying £5,000 for insurance cause you live in london then you're better off changing your occupation and mileage
Why do they need to know your occupation anyway your insuring the car not yourself
Occupation is a new scam 2010 it was straight forward now they want your blood type
Only thing i get concerned about with that is ive heard certain companies will ask for proof of occupation 😢
just say your retired, thats what i did and it saves you a lot. you can retire at any age and from anything, so its not lying really
We need an American version of this

Should be illegal for insurance companies to change the amounts depending on the situation your in , it should just be the price set in stone if it’s 1 day or 3 weeks 🤬

Lie, only option in london.
Other countries insurance is run by government if you get caught without you get ban for 5 years, also you automatically have the right to drive any vehicle. Shit needs to be seen into
The bizarreness is if you put a white name on instead of a Mohammed something the price is lower! 😮
I’m actually going to try this to see if it’s true
I just bought a BMW IX3 (first car)which is insurance group 44E and only paid £900 that is fully comp. Insurance companies must see young people in small cars as really risky and what you should be doing is buy a bigger more expensive car.
