Your comment on accents being something that people see as being arractive reminded me of years ago when I was in the US attending a cooperative military command exercise. We had US clerks allocated to each brigade group and we Kiwis were running over some details at a meeting with our US equivalents when I noticed that our clerk had stopped taking notes and was just sitting with her chin in her hand listening. We stopped and I asked her if everything was Ok, thinking maybe we were going too fast for her. She snapped out of wherever she had been and with a big smile said "Oh.sir, I'm sorry but I just love listening to your accents" not quite what I was anticipating in a formal military setting.

As an Australian, I reckon Michael McIntyre does a better stereotypical, broad Australian accent than some of the locals here could pull off, including myself. If I wasn't watching, I'd assume that someone else had got up on stage to join him because it was that believable - zero telltale flaws. Dad is South African - now that one had a little comic licence thrown in. That accent has evolved too over time based on mingling with Afrikaans and will also moderate based upon parentage and regional influences. Most British South Africans used to speak RP English. Elon Musk is probably a better known example of someone with a milder variation of the accent. Broadcasters in Australia also used to speak with the RP English accent up until around the late 60s, as it denoted a higher social class, to which everyone in the British Empire was expected to aspire to.

One of my delivery drivers where I used to work had a Yorkshire accent & it used to makes us laugh how he says "it's in the back of the van" because he says it as "it's in back 'ut van" 😂
I also had an encounter with a truck driver from Leeds who asked if he could borrow a ladder for a few seconds. He said to me "Hey, Lad. Is it alright if I just borrow this ladder? I'm only going 'tut cab in it" That the first time I've ever heard a northerner legit use the word 'tut 😂

One comedian who does know how to do the Black Country accent (despite being from over the border in Birmingham) is Joe Lycett. The man who doesn't sound like a Brummie whatsoever gets the Black Country spot on.

As a Brummie Peaky Blinders did us no favours as all the actors do a Black Country accent and not a Birmingham one which is so different. Regional dialect is so fascinating.@@TheAuburnEnigma

In Yorkshire the letter 'T' or 't' for the word 'the' is more of a glottal stop - sort of implied but not pronounced. You don't say "ter lion, ter witch and ter wardrobe." You would say "lion't, witch and't wardrobe." It's more glottal, almost like an "n". Non-native Yorkshire speakers always pronounce "the" as a very pronounced "ter", when trying to effect a Yorkshire accent, and we hallowed, godlike Yorkshire folk would never say "the" as "ter".

He did consentrate on the North and west of the UK, a little racist. He didn't mention the problems in the south of all the missing T. Perhaps we rescued them, thing becomes fing , thought becomes fort. I find it really annoying the Yorkshire accent comes from Norse. The number of southerners living in Yorkshire has risen and affected the local dialect. He didn't mention can walk a few miles and accents change. The accent for Leeds was wrong it's generally flat vowels and the T is present go down the road and it changes once more. I love accents it's what makes us, us. It's funny when he had a go at beautiful Cornwall the number of southerners who own second homes there, has created a housing shortage for locals. My partner is from Virginia but after 20yrs here speaks like he was educated at Eton.
