Hello, I hope you can answer a question I have about heel lifts. I'm 74 and have had moderate to severe chronic pain in every muscle and joint for many years. It's getting worse. I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, arthritis, bowed legs, poor posture, poor diet, lack of exercise, laziness, and old age. They've recommended orthotics, braces, physio, rehab, yoga, vitamins, special diets and even hip and knee replacements.
When I look in the mirror I can plainly see that my left hip is higher than the right and it sticks way out to the side. I want to try something before considering other treatments that can be very expensive and might not work. Would you recommend a heel lift in one shoe to gradually level out my hips? If so, which shoe, left or right? With all the videos I've watched I haven't found the answer. There are videos on heel lifts for leg length discrepancy but no mention of hip misalignment or even which foot needs lifting. I'd appreciate your advice.

I don't see any recommendation for shoe buildups. Where would you go for that? Bc I already had one pair of shoes ruined. Also, if you have to pay for a surgery such as the one you described, how much would that roughly be if your insurance didn't cover it?

Great video thank you! I was diagnosed with one leg longer than the other at a young age.
I recently started getting knee pain in both knees but significantly more in my longer leg. My dad has flat feet. I suspect I do as well which has been aggravated by my LLD on one side and only just noticed that my knees buckle inward. Going to try these tips until I get to see a specialist. Thanks again for the helpful video!

I have dealt with leg length discrepancy for 30 years. Back problems, neck problems. Constant pain. EVERYONE I saw told me it was muscular. Now at 49 years old I finally find out I actually have a leg length discrepancy. I seriously doubt I am in the 1%. You should really check that statistic

This video actually helped me alot❤❤. I am thirteen years old. I have leg length discrepancy in my left leg since I was born. I don't have a kneecap on my left leg and my leg was twisted from the knee when I was born because without the knee cap the leg from the knee has a very much chance of dislocating, that was fixed. So now before 1 year I had a surgery and I grew 7cm on my leg it still didn't help me. I am in my growing age and now again my left leg has a 2cm difference from the right leg. Now I started following your Videos and It is helping me a lot❤❤

This is amazing info! I'm going to see a podiatrist to address my si joint dysfunction on the right side hypermobile. Due to injury. Ligamenopathy confirmed.
I confirmed my leg length discrepancy is functional because my osteopath fixed it. She adjusted my pelvis with some voodoo cracking and moving bones and I was even. It felt really weird. I knew it would eventually tilt and rotate again due to muscular imbalances but it proved that it's functional, not structural.
I follow the left AC pattern basically. Right hip hike. Very very slight L3 levoscoliosis, which aligned with the right hip hike that's mild. Pelvis rotated. It's been to the right but it might be ti the left these days.
I have flat feet, more so on the left foot. Knee is more rotated in on left. And I think I know why now.
My left hip is externally rotated. My femur is rotated. So that I can have balance, my left tibula is internally rotated, rotating my knee in. And that means my left foot is internally rotated.
My right hip is internally rotated. My right tibula and foot are mildly internally rotated. My right foot has somewhat of an arch. The left is just flat.
All these imbalances existed prior to my si joint dysfunction. I know that I have tendinopathy in my left and right ankles, as well. I'm being treated with shockwave for my si joint. Eventually, they will get down to my calf, ankles and feet. I've had past ankle injuries, more so on the left. Bad ankle sprains. I'm sure that is a factor! My jaw and teeth alignment also has to be a factor. The whole body is connected.
I think fixing my flat feet, fixing the knee rotated inwards and fixing the rotation in my hips should eliminate the imbalances, keep my pelvis neutral, so no tilt or rotation, and that should take pressure off of my si joint and allow the ligaments to heal. That's my theory. Have to work on breathing and getting stacked and balanced front to back and side to side.
One thing my MAT/MET specialist said to Me is that my brain and my feet are not on speaking terms. the Nuero connection is weak or non existent. He woke up my feet and I had all these range of motion and muscles firing and resisting in his tests. He recommended I start wearing barefoot shoes. He works with big names in pro sports and their teams. Definitely not a quack. I was amazed that my feet are a huge part of my imbalances. I need to address my entire body to solve this si joint dysfunction. I do not want to get prp injection. I want to get to the root cause and fix it.

Hi, my son (13yrs) has hypermobility. He overpronates severely. He has worn orthotics as he's grown however some have been better than others. Some are difficult to fit into a shoe. I see a lot of videos suggesting barefoot type shoes and wonder if it is something to aim for. Or at least trying to find a foot, ankle strengthening program. I was told yesterday that his one leg is shorter, possibly because of a tight hamstring, caused originally from his overpronation. I really want to help him strengthen his feet and lessen the risk of pain as he gets older. Any suggestions are welcome

From my prior experience I have basically filled out forms for a lawyer that can help with filing for it. I get a large packet and I fill out stuff you can do/can't do and attest to the pain/immobility. I don't think it is that straightforward of a process unless there is a clear genetic/developmental or traumatic incident that caused it in most cases. The people I see struggle are really chronic conditions that got worse over time with work.

Personally I see people almost every single day tell me about this, but when we evaluate their biomechanics, it is always translational rotation through the hip, knee, ankle or foot joints. This can lead to a 2cm deficit for sure without a problem. We could also scan your bones and see if one is actually shorter. From personal experience and the experience of international practitioners, this seems to be the consensus of the experts around the world as well.
