    Poor Countess Chorinsky!! She didn't deserve to be murdered!!
    Her ex husband and father-in-law didn't sound like VERY nice people!! I imagine the father-in-law disapproved of his son marrying a former actress!! As for the ex husband, I wouldn't be surprised if he DID encourage the Baroness to do the deed!! How else would Baroness Julia know where to locate her love rival?!
    Murder is NEVER worth it!!
    Thanks for telling this VERY sad story, Robin!! 💖💞💕❤

      We think for sure that he was involved and the letters he sent her are certainly pushing her to act. You are right, the family did initially disapprove but then they accepted her! She was staying with them even after the divorce but then was forced out when the son returned. He said he would not stay in the same house with her - that is when she moved back to Munich. Very sad case.😔

      Thank you - glad you liked! The Count, in all of this, sounds like a very demanding spoiled child who "wants" and wants it now! The original marraige, by all accounts, was against the family wishes, but he insisted. He seems to have tired of his wife quite quickly. The father sounds sorry for her and offers her shelter whilst the count is away. Then when the count comes back, he will not stay in the house unless she leaves, so she goes off to another country! The letters to Julia are all very demanding in a "do it, do it now" kind of way. We wondered of the possibility that he had syphilis whch would certainly account for the madness. Thank you - very glad you liked the story! 🙏

    The Count and Baroness were truly a "despicable," couple for conspiring to murder his ex-wife. I personally believe this was the idea of the Count and the Baroness agreed to it so that they could get married. I can't comprehend the sentencing that the Count received but because he was an aristocrat is why I believe he didn't receive the death penalty. I'm not surprised at the penal servitude sentence for the Baroness only the length of her time. Great investigation, presentation, backstories, illustrations, photos and videos, too. Take care 🦋 P.S. l loved the new background because I've always loved a home library.

      Thank you for the background! Very kind! 😁Yes, it was a HUGE story as you can see! Interestingly, some additional things came out about Julia but, we did not include them because we could not substantiate it. There were rumours - and truly, it could just be rumours to make the story more salcious, that she had had mysterious deaths around her in the past. So, the intimation that she was a poisoner in general. We really do not know., The news reports we saw all spoke of her upset at the deed she had done. The rumour stories were from abroad - not the British press. Hungary at the time was a powerhouse and there were ties to the British royal family so - did this make the reporting more cautious here or more accurate? As for the sentencing - yes, we think you are right and their "status" kept them alive. 🙏

    At first you said that they were granted a divorce. So, I thought why would the lady kill her? But then you said that they were still married!

    • @newsofthetimes
      @newsofthetimes  Місяць тому +1

      Hiya - no, they were diovorced. BUT, it was a Roman Catholic divorce which means they are not allowed to ever marry anyone else again. So, she was still called the Countess Chorinsky (although she went by a different name when she moved back to Munich). Because of the Roman Catholic divorce, he was not allowed to marry Julia. We can hear by his letters that he almost sounds obsessed with this and is super pushing Julia to kill his (ex) wife. We think he refers to the ex wife as his "wife" because, in essence, he is stopped from marrying anyone because of her. The Count and Julia considered turning Protestent, which did allow re-marrying, but instead they decided to kill her instead (!!! 🤔). Sorry if there was confusion. 🙏
