@@jeremybilbrey1133 Nick is awesome, but more on the "quiet" side. Johnny Dee (the drummer) is very open and welcoming to fans, as is Doro herself. It's hard to believe that a voice that huge can come out of that small body of hers. I am so glad to know them, and their music.
My favourite part of your videos is your description of their music videos. Those 80s metal music videos were often ridiculous and nonsensical but they were tons of fun and having them described in a deadpan voice decades later is hilarious and enjoyable.
I Still have the" All we Are" cassette tape and it still plays. Doro is definitely the Metal Queen. Always did love to hear her voice. So Glad to see she is still around and recording songs!
Most certainly the Queen of Metal, been an avid follower, and have everything she's EVER released since Burring The Witches. She's still going strong, her last album" Forever Warriors Forever United" was flawless as usual. I have the giant cover of Triumph and Agony on my stonewash metal Denim Jacket that I still wear to this day. Still in near perfect shape after 30 years..lol That album also has my favorite Doro song ever, I Rule The Ruins. (Three Minute Warning is in my top 10)
I'm a huge Doro fan, from Warlock onto her solo work. Great video with a well done career retrospective. I know these fantastic Metal School videos have to take a lot of work, you deserve serious kudos for doing all this research and putting together such entertaining vids.
Triumph and Agony isn't just my favorite Warlock album, it's one of my favorite albums of all time! The insane scream at the end of Touch Of Evil still gives me goosebumps.
''I Rule the Ruins'' is my all time favorite, but I liked the live performance she did with ex Iron Maiden's Blaze Bayley on ''Fear of the Dark'' at Wacken. Gives me chills. Metal Queen indeed.

Saw her at small venue late on a Saturday night also. Over ten years ago in Portland Oregon I was so happy she stopped to do a show…perhaps 5-800 people no sitting just standing….such a small place but so appreciated she did it.
it was around 1990, when I faced Heavy Metal the very first time. It was Warlock's "True as steel" album. Now I am am over 40 and still a metalhead. Your video made my heart swinging. Doro is great!
@@johnnyguitar6639 What a nonsense. She doesn't need anything that suits you better. She always had her eyes made up. You're not getting any younger either. But maybe you are losing yourself. This is something you should think about.
@@Baldur1975 OFC I'M not getting any younger. That's why I don't dress like i did when I was 15 either. Doro has a fenomenal talent, but she uses make up like a 50+ chick trying to be 30 & goth. If you look at her pics from her younger years. Her make up was to the point. Look at pictures from all we are, and the first few albums under the name Doro. And for the record I'm not commenting on her youthful looks back than,I'm talking bout her make up. And only that.
Saw Warlock in London at the Camden Palace 1985. There's a clip from the Live In London DVD at the start of this. Finally got my DVD of that signed by Doro at her 30th anniversary show at Manchester
I got to see Warlock in Charlotte, NC back in 1988 @ Rocky's. Doro came out to meet some fans. I got to stand right beside Her, she smelled Awesome....Vanilla. I'll always remember that ! ❤
I saw Doro in Orlando, FL in 2000 at The House of Blue's. She opened up for Yngwie Malmsteen, and he opened up for Dio. This was on Dio's "Magica" Tour. She was very impressive live. Her rendition of Billy Idol's "White Wedding" is badass.
I'm lovin' your research ethic alot. It gives an amazing deep-dive into these bands we've forgotten about. Your narration (esp about the videos) had me smilin'. I had the Triumph and Agony album and "I Rule the Ruins" was my fave song on the album.
First of all: your narration of the music videos is pure gold, it must be said. I also need to buy more Warlock albums. Listened a lot to Triumph and Agony back in the late 80s but the only one I currently own is True as Steel. I didn't recognize a single one of her 90s albums. Maybe I haven't missed much, but it was still a quite shocking to realize how much has COMPLETELY passed me by.
her 90's albums, do vary in sound scape, BUT aside from True At Heart, all of them are aggressive. I didn't agree with him about Machine II Machine and Love Me In Black, both of which are phenomenal, his use of the word "Cubby" is misleading as that word makes Americans think of dance clubs, which is very wrong, it is very NIN and TOOL mixed with aggressive metal. Ceremony is one of my top 10 songs of Doro as is the song Love Me In Black. I think he's hung up on a particular metal sound AS metal. When there is a range of metal, from Agressive Rock to Death Metal. Her 90's albums hit a lot of different metal sub-genres, but they are ALL metal.
Most excellent episode. Had a Doro circa Triumph and Agony poster on my wall in '87. Provided much, ahem, inspiration. Started at T and A ( giggity ) and worked my way back then forward till the mid 90s then her records became too expensive and numerous to get. Met her briefly at a Metalfest in NJ probably 91 or 92. Literally one zillion people at her signing table, but she made everyone's 45 seconds with her like a private conversation. Very humble person. Thanks for this comprehensive overview. Loving the lighthearted vibe.
She has a great metal voice and presence. Being sexy as hell doesn't hurt either. Started with her solo stuff, but went back for Warlock. And hard to believe at 59, she just put out another album (which I still have to check out). Force Majeure is definitely my favorite (almost of her favorite songs are off of this album), followed by Love Me In Black. And thanks for putting all of these out, they're awesome
"All we are" was my first contact with metal, I heard the song on summer vacation when I was 14 or 15, it must have been issued a year ago or so....blew me away, still does...Doro is such great person, so laid back, so sympathetic...and truly Metal! Metal wouldn't be the same without her!
I grew up in Düsseldorf and the rock scene was actually quite good with Doro, (the german) Warrant, Deathrow (one of my favourites), Assassin and Blind Guardian ( their home town Krefeld being just on the other side of the river Rhine). Then there were also Kreator, Sodom, Violent Force and lots of other great bands in the Ruhrpott nearby and of course our very own home punk band Die Toten Hosen. Kraftwerk was also from Düsseldorf.
Man, your commentary is entertaining. The way you break down the logic of Heavy Metal videos. 😆 I was a fan of Doro back in the day but totally lost track as I moved onto other musical genres.
Seen Doro at Graspop 2018 and I have to say that the First Lady of Metal still looks magnificent. Not so much can be said about the older part of her entourage.
I originally met DORO in Dusseldorf while on vacation with my german parents,,,,I would then meet her again at the 9:30 club in D.C. a few years later where she pulled me up on stage......bouncers would grab me a try to throw me out but she yelled at them and shut them down......she is super cool....
Always loved Warlock and Doro. Keep up the amazing work. This is one of my all time favorite channels!!! Could we get a few episodes on NW/Seattle metal? Sanctuary, Forced Entry, R.I.P., Metal Church, Coven, Heir Apparent, Culprit, etc?
It’s true. I’ve always thought of Doro as THE trailblazer for women vocalists in heavy metal. They never came off as many other bands that watered things down heavily to give a soft feminine rock sound just because they had a woman on vocals. No…Warlock always came off as no bullshit and and Doro went as hard as the music was. She was (still is!) a beauty but she was tough and strong. Fantastic music overall from the band, as well! Thanks for covering this important band in metal history
Man, I LOVE YOU FOR THAT EPISODE! :-) Doro (and Warlock) is one of my all-time favorites! In 2016 me and my band ALSION actually had the chance to open a festival for her...
I think you’re doing these bands a really great service by showcasing and talking honestly about their later works. I am obsessed with Mercyful Fate and KD so I had listened to everything there. But I hadn’t done the full Doro and W.A.S.P. catalogs yet. There is some really decent music there that I might not have heard for a good while without these well-constructed bios. Calvin Klein and Motorcycle guy-hilarious. Also, thanks for giving True as Steel another shake. I love all the Warlock records but that one is my personal favorite. We can all of us agree on the bands even if what resonates may vary a touch. In general I have 100% agreed with all your homework in your videos I’ve watched. Also impressed that you appear to take the time to read all your comments. Legendary creator stuff, man. Keep up the truly excellent work! 🤘🏿❤️🤘🏿
Haha, I do try to read all the comments but some fall through the cracks unfortunately. I appreciate the kind words and glad you’re digging the videos! There’s always room for disagreement and yeah different albums work differently for different people so I always try to keep that in mind.🤘🏻
I love this band. Too bad I already know a lot ab them. Hopefully everyone else can enjoy this heavy rock. Great band. Hopefully next vid we get some gold that no one knows. Great channel!
Wow another great band I miss...but boy Doro is an amazing singer and beautiful woman as well...gave me Lita Ford vibes but I'm sure to add it to my music library as well...German bands...mostly female lead singers are great...like Holy Moses and many more...great content and love the video...thank you 🤘
In my view one of their best songs from true as steel is " Mr. Gold". That is a great album opener...great vocal and riffing..saw them on this tour in the clubs. They were great..
"Triumph and Agony " tour.... 1/22/88 ,pretty sure that was the date...lol..old now.., Saw whitesnake with great white opening at the Nassau Coliseum on long island....that ended then hauled ass to Sundance (rock club) to see Warlock headline a club tour show. Club shows went on so late back then you could go to two shows in an evening.. Great times..great vid !!!
These r frm my era thumbs up Doro sticking wit the metal is never easy 4 a female yur voice is great and u hav proved 2 alot of metal fans u hav the rite 2 raise the metal horns yes I'm proud 2 b a fan
Holy shit! You're killing me with your humour! Love it! I still have Burning The Witches, but I admit, it's the only album I bought and purely because I totally fancied Doro.
I saw Doro for the first and only time opening for Yngwie and Dio. Her set was short, but every song was fantastic. Metal School, your description of "Always Live To Win" as punky is spot on. It is my new favorite Doro track and I wish The Donnas would reunite and cover it. Three minutes and no guitar solo, just perfect.
"Thanks for making it this far", are you kidding? I was greatly entertained. Doro is awesome and hot and the way you summarize the videos is hilarious. Thank you!
Seeing "All we are" video on tv at the time as a 6yo kid was something else. The band doing ridiculous maneuvers and Doro flinging her hair around was so cool. Even my elder sisters liked Warlock so much that other one ended up buying the record. I consider the first three Warlock albums their essential metal albums with crunchy riffs, while T&A and Force Majeure were transitional double album into her solo career, of which the latter is better and my favourite Doro album. Side A has one of the best set of tracks, lineup was tight and Jon Levin's guitar absolutely soars.
😆😆😆 @ your "Doro music video" commentary. Hilarious stuff. Similar with me regarding many of the comments on here. 55 years old. Grew up with 80s metal. She was phenomenal (and still is) , but Warlock were just superb. Lucky enough to have saw her with Warlock support Dio on his Dream Evil tour in 86. Crystal clear memories of that night. Long may she be putting out her music. 🤘🤘🤘
Very underrated band. Probably the best melodic style band I ever discovered, even better than Keel. You could do Wolfsbane from Tamworth, England as well, they're a similar style. Doro is the METAL QUEEN!
Awesome job! I've been a fan since hellbound and didn't know about that early picture disc single. This was a real joy to watch. She's my girl.😈🤘🤘💜✌ too many favorites to count but off forever warriors/ united. Resistance. Lift me up. Bastardos
Clearly the industry knew she was talented - she’s lucky to have been signed for as many years as she was… Some of these albums are just all over the place in terms of style - but again - she’s been lucky to have so many chances to get a hit.
Thank you for all your amazing videos! Really appreciate the amount of time and energy you've put in each and every one of them. I know it's a lot to ask, but could you pleeeeaaaase make a video about CHASTAIN or Leather Leone? Huge fan. Greetings from Greece!

Saw her at small venue late on a Saturday night also. Over ten years ago in Portland Oregon I was so happy she stopped to do a show…perhaps 5-800 people no sitting just standing….such a small place but so appreciated she did it.
TRIUMPH AND AGONY.... ONE OF METALS BEST...!
Forever my queen. Adored her as an 80s teen. She was onebof the only female performers in metal that seems legita, and she truly loved metal.
I didn't know much about Doro/Warlock so this video was very informative for me. Really enjoyed it. 🤘
it was around 1990, when I faced Heavy Metal the very first time. It was Warlock's "True as steel" album.
Now I am am over 40 and still a metalhead.
Your video made my heart swinging. Doro is great!
Doro still looks great and performs great.
She need to get ridd of the black makeup shit around her eyes. She look like she trying to be a teen. But yeah she still sound great
Absolut!
@@johnnyguitar6639 Maybe i missunderstood this. old prop betwenn german and englisch language. "something for all or and all for something" 😂
You're the best, independent "Behind The Music" successor on YT! Huge kudos to what you do. Can't wait to hear about more great bands!
Saw Warlock in London at the Camden Palace 1985. There's a clip from the Live In London DVD at the start of this. Finally got my DVD of that signed by Doro at her 30th anniversary show at Manchester
"All We Are" has always been one of my favorite songs, and will always be on the list.
That intro!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Metal Tango is my favorite Warlock song
Hard Times is my favorite
I just discovered this channel. And now I'm like Rodney Danderfield Back to School. Great stuff!
That must have been one hell of a show!
"It was kind of a weird video." A statement we never made in the 80's. You damn whipper snapper.
Doro is the metal queen! All hail and long live….. DORO!
I'm lovin' your research ethic alot. It gives an amazing deep-dive into these bands we've forgotten about. Your narration (esp about the videos) had me smilin'. I had the Triumph and Agony album and "I Rule the Ruins" was my fave song on the album.
There is nothing uneven on true as steel. Mr. Gold is fantastic! The closer instrumental is a masterpiece.
Their rendition of "Whiter Shade of Pale" is my favorite version of the song.. Totally give it justice..
Great edition, narrative, story-telling.... Congratulations, Metal School, high quality here!
And Doro has forever been the true HEAVY METAL QUEEN since Warlock's first albums first track !
I love how you explain the videos in a totally objective way
Most excellent episode.
😂
Her cover of Dio's Egypt is pretty fantastic.
I must admit your analysis of the music videos always are worth a laugh. Carry on it's brilliant
Fantastic! I look forward to every upload! Thank you for what you do
Doro has earned legend status. Second best metal queen behind Mari Hamada
I saw Warlock twice, monsters of rock 86, and they opened for Judas Priest on the turbo tour. So awesome and I was smitten with Doro.
What a good video ! thank you. Doro has stolen our hearts
A full retrospective on Warlock & Doro at last - great work - this is damn Gold....
I love Kraftwerk.
As informative as these are, I am ever entertained by your consistently taking the piss out of the music-videos.
The last time I saw Doro live was in 2016 with Aria and Kruiz in Moscow, it was a such cool day and the gig..pure magic.
That sounds like a heck of a lineup!
Man, your commentary is entertaining. The way you break down the logic of Heavy Metal videos. 😆 I was a fan of Doro back in the day but totally lost track as I moved onto other musical genres.
One of my favorite bands, thank you
Seen Doro at Graspop 2018 and I have to say that the First Lady of Metal still looks magnificent. Not so much can be said about the older part of her entourage.
Cool video, No one was hotter than Doro in the mid 80s!
Oh,,yes love Doro,, have all hur Album,s ,,,,love,me in Black is a Brilliant song,,, rock on Doro love from a Mega fan in Ireland,,👍👍👍🎸👍👍🎸👍👍👍🎸👍👍👍🎸
I originally met DORO in Dusseldorf while on vacation with my german parents,,,,I would then meet her again at the 9:30 club in D.C. a few years later where she pulled me up on stage......bouncers would grab me a try to throw me out but she yelled at them and shut them down......she is super cool....
Will definitely look into those! Metal Church seems like a must eventually.
Don't forget about Nevermore
I’ve just started really getting into warlock/doro there first album is a absolute banger doro has one hell of a vocal range even to this day
She still sound and looks amazing 😍⚡🎸🔥
I love her. She such a strong vocals and yes she is the Metal Queen 🔥
I thought that Lee Aaron was the metal queen?
All We Are is a 10/10, first intro to Warlock/Doro, no regerts!
Good stuff again and I love you commenting the video's!
Saw Doro in a small club 5 years ago she still got it
i know the focus is on the documentary presentation, but when you add some jokes it's really good blunt humor, also your videos are amazing
Thanks! This channel is actually 50% just an excuse to MST 80s heavy metal music videos 😄🤘🏻
I love the 80s senseless music videos haha.
Great videos, keep up the great work!
True as Steel and Triumph are classic albums, got original vinyl copies.
Man, I LOVE YOU FOR THAT EPISODE! :-) Doro (and Warlock) is one of my all-time favorites! In 2016 me and my band ALSION actually had the chance to open a festival for her...
Too cool!! She seems like such a positive and nice person. And apparently ageless haha
My metal crush❤️ So talented, so adorable. Thanks for the great video!
You and thousands of people like you, its not about you....
“Do you like it?” has the same riff as Helmet - Unsung. Holy cow. Fantastic video!!
I use the song Mr. Gold as a vocal exercise sometimes.
Fun fact; She also created the windy hair look for all future female musicians. 😜👍
DORO has an awesome voice. I love her stuff.
Wow . I didn't know she had made so much music. Great job putting this video together.
Love Warlock since Hellbound, it was magic! Love Doro 🤘💥🤘
Completely fell in love with her the first time I seen her in 1984 ❤️🤘🤘
Holy shit! You're killing me with your humour! Love it!
I still have Burning The Witches, but I admit, it's the only album I bought and purely because I totally fancied Doro.
There song "Für immer" was in Germany one of the most play songs for wedding.
“Three Minute Warning”, and your video play-by-play is priceless!
Force Majeure is my favorite too!
🤘🤘🤘
amazing rockumentary of her life, showing covers, tracks, pointing out ... wow really deep researched stuff,
Spectacular video. Thanks for posting it.
Chastain (and David T.) is definitely on the list!
I needed to learn more about them! Great video as always!
