Doro doesn't get enough credit in my opinion for being True as steel. She needs to be acknowledged in the same rankings with the likes of Halford, Lemmy, Ozzy, and Dickinson. Many 80s bands have faded away but Doro in my opinion has stayed very relevant. Not only is she extremely talented but she's absolutely stunning and seductive. I've had a crush on her since the 80's I'm 50 now and I still find her very attractive. Her beauty and talent have stood the test of time

I have met Doro multiple times, and even had her sign my arm below a tattoo representing one of her songs(that my first wife used to refer to me as).... "Rare Diamond". I had her autograph tattooed on the very next day. It was my first wife that turned me on to Warlock/Doro's music. Absolutely LOVED them on the first listen, and have been a fan ever since!
Doro is one of the most grounded, and "fan friendly" celebrity I have ever had the pleasure to meet! She, and the rest of her band are just awesome! While she does seem to have "mellowed" over the years, she still produces some really good music, and is *SO* under rated it's criminal! She truly is the queen of metal music, and I may be crippled, but I'll fight anyone who says otherwise!
I consider Doro, and her current drummer Johnny Dee, to be personal friends of mine. It was my first wife(Rose) who introduced me to her music, and Doro for the first time.... but it was our friend Kim(a photographer), who had known Johnny Dee for a long time previously, who actually allowed me to become friends with both Doro and Johnny, as well as other members of the (more recent) band.
For the record; my first wife died from Ovarian Cancer back in 2006.... so it's not like we "broke up" and got divorced. My love for Rose, and for Doro(and by extension, her music), have lasted to this day. My second wife was sent to me by my first(after she died.... as she lay dying, she had promised me that she would send me someone so I wouldn't be lonely... with all she was dealing with, she though of ME first).
I also want to say, that music has always been a major part of my life. I was a vocalist back in Jr. High and High school. I wanted to go on, but college life/classes failed me.
Edit: The video for Herzblut..... I have to comment on that. Because it means a LOT to me.
The "suicidal guy" with the dog.... in a way, that was me. I wasn't exactly suicidal.... but I honestly didn't care if I lived or died. This was, for me, the period between when Rose had died, and before I had re-met Katina(my current wife... we had known each other in school, but weren't romantically involved)... I see myself as "that guy", Doro as Rose(the angel who would send me a message that I was still loved, and the dog represented the love I would find from an "unexpected place". Obviously, Katina isn't a "dog"(any way you look at it).... but she was the love I was looking for... the missing piece of my life that was "right there", and I had overlooked. Doro actually cried when I told her this story, and how much that video had meant to me. She was really touched by the story, and it meant a lot to her that the song and video she had made, had meant so much to me.

Hey, John thanks for sharing. That’s a great story and it seems like Doro is very passionate about the community of heavy metal and of course the fans. I wanted to work that aspect into the video but ended up not finding an organic place to do it. I think it still comes across in the footage tho and in stories from fans like yourself. Keep rockin, my man! 🤘🏻

@@MetalSchoolChannel Damn, I'm just seeing your reply to this. I want to show you something.... during a live show at Jaxx nightclub in Virgina, I had the opportunity to actually be on stage with the band. Now, that was a SPECIAL night in many ways.... first, I was standing near the control booth for the sound/lighting tech. He had to run off to the bathroom right before they took the stage. He asked me if I knew when to throw the lights up. I told him that I did, because I already knew the setlist (I had seen it taped to the stage), and it wasn't my first Doro concert. He trusted me to "throw the lights" at the right time, showed me exactly what to do (slide a specific slide control all the way forward), and ran off before he pissed himself. I did exactly as instructed, and threw the lights at just the right second. No one but me and him knew that I did it, but man, what an experience! That was only the start of the night, too.
A bit later on, I had been told by my friend Kim, that she had talked to the guy in charge of the stage hands (who I still have as a friend on Facebook), that we had literally 2 minutes ON STAGE with Doro, to present her with a specially made cake, to celebrate their first tour of Japan and their 25th anniversary. Fortunately, someone in the audience had recorded this moment (the whole show, actually, but I was only given permission to use this short clip where I was on stage).... you can view it here: ua-cam.com/video/2qHhQqcKM7o/v-deo.html
And yeah, I got a hug from Doro.... ON STAGE in front of everybody! She really loves her fans, and it shows anytime you meet her.
But the story doesn't end with the cake presentation on stage....
We were invited to join the band after the show in an upstairs room to cut the cake, and share a few hours with them. I have some photos of this on my Imgur page, but I don't know if they are all in one album or not. This was back in 2010, and is a memory I will never forget. I think that was the same night that I had my "Doro Fanbox" signed by her and the band. Johnny Dee is on my Facebook friends list, and I talk with him quite often. Nick is a bit more reserved, but still a great guy to meet in person. I only wish that Rose had lived to be included in that event. She would have loved that. Then again, it's possible she arranged for me to be there for it, because she knew how special it would be for me. Either way, I know she was there in spirit.

@@jeremybilbrey1133 Nick is awesome, but more on the "quiet" side. Johnny Dee (the drummer) is very open and welcoming to fans, as is Doro herself. It's hard to believe that a voice that huge can come out of that small body of hers. I am so glad to know them, and their music.

her 90's albums, do vary in sound scape, BUT aside from True At Heart, all of them are aggressive. I didn't agree with him about Machine II Machine and Love Me In Black, both of which are phenomenal, his use of the word "Cubby" is misleading as that word makes Americans think of dance clubs, which is very wrong, it is very NIN and TOOL mixed with aggressive metal. Ceremony is one of my top 10 songs of Doro as is the song Love Me In Black. I think he's hung up on a particular metal sound AS metal. When there is a range of metal, from Agressive Rock to Death Metal. Her 90's albums hit a lot of different metal sub-genres, but they are ALL metal.

Man, your commentary is entertaining. The way you break down the logic of Heavy Metal videos. 😆 I was a fan of Doro back in the day but totally lost track as I moved onto other musical genres.

Doro is great. I met her in the audience at a Mötley Crüe concert in Essen's Gruga Halle in the 80s. She gave me an autograph on the ticket. Then I saw Warlock opener for Judas Priest. That was also in the 80s and in Essen. It was phenomenal.

Clearly the industry knew she was talented - she’s lucky to have been signed for as many years as she was… Some of these albums are just all over the place in terms of style - but again - she’s been lucky to have so many chances to get a hit.

Seeing "All we are" video on tv at the time as a 6yo kid was something else. The band doing ridiculous maneuvers and Doro flinging her hair around was so cool. Even my elder sisters liked Warlock so much that other one ended up buying the record. I consider the first three Warlock albums their essential metal albums with crunchy riffs, while T&A and Force Majeure were transitional double album into her solo career, of which the latter is better and my favourite Doro album. Side A has one of the best set of tracks, lineup was tight and Jon Levin's guitar absolutely soars.
