all my videos are in 1080p so check that out
just an idea on how to install auxiliary gauges on pretty much anything that the adapters will let you
car is a 70 chevelle with a 454
thanks for watching and please like and subscribe if you enjoyed the video - Авто та транспорт
Super straight-forward, no excessive "blah, blah, blah" & clean install. Engine exhaust sounds MEAN!
I'm replacing the old small gauges with 2 5/8" gauges by AutoMeter. Got the oil gauge installed today. On to the water temp tomorrow. Don't know about the voltage yet. I bought this ol' 1972 Chevy C10 a week ago and haven't taken the time to check the lights for a source of power to the gauge. The truck is an absolute rust bucket, but all I'm wanting is a cool old driver. Thanks for this video. You gave me the confidence to do this gauge install.
Thanks for taking the time to produce all of the videos! I want to also thank you for cleaning them up if ya know what i mean.
Awesome videos man, very clear and to the point. 10/10 my 71 Camino thanks you
I enjoy your videos. They are simple, direct and no bs. You dont try to complicate anything. I wish you were working on a '66 chevelle but most of the videos I use. Just one thing on this video, that extra wire on the splice you made should be cleared or cut shorter. It could short out under the dash. Keep bringin the vids.
Nice thanks, good little tips along the way, like if oil pressure line leaks a bit don't panic and re-do just tighten a bit first for a stop leak, to see if that works. Good stuff on all the wiring too.
Straight up …your videos are the best
I hope since you posted this, your running copper line on your oil pressure. I enjoy all your videos man. Keep up the good work. Thanks
Very nice. Those gauges are pretty close to the originals too. Good job.
Got the water temp gauge installed this morning. Simple process.
Engine sounded nice. Happy new year!
happy new year to you...
Thanks for the vid, ordering them as well using your link.
Thank you great video I'm doing the same to my car really helpful
Awesome vid, also love the taste in music haha
Nice work. Use copper line for the oil gauge. Had a fire once when the plastic line melted. Exciting.
Very helpful. Thanks
You might want to mount the gauge cluster facing the driver. This makes the gauges easier to read from the drivers seat and eliminate "parallax view" inaccuricies. A grommet through the firewall is well done except sealing it so water does not leak through it. Otherwise, well done !
great video
my 65 el camino said thank you very much.
Sweeet! Thanks!
I love your videos .
That Minecraft 2:27 background music is fire
What size fittings did u use for your oil pressure switch to retain the original dummy light but accommodate the new gauge? I want to do the same. Great video
Adding some Bosch ones to my 66 fury 3
Hello Chris, What Brand of Headers are you using, yours clear the oil pressure sending unit real nice, mine are directly in the path of sending unit, i'm also running both the gauge and the light. Thanks. Great Videos.
Nice job editing too! Moves along well. Nice work thanks!
That intro had me dying
thanks
Wire nuts on mobile applications can be troublesome. They are not made for the vibration. Solder with shrink tube works best.
So these types of gauges are for older cars? On modern cars like the coolant temp gauge the sender wires go first to the computer then to the gauge that is part of the factory gauge cluster. So after market gauge installation is a bit tricky on modern cars.
i would 110% let this guy work on my cars
I c U made a good decision u chose mechanical over electrical 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Where do you pull the illumination wires from to be able to adjust the diming function?
I know this video is old but it’s great! Where do I get the connectors to plumb up the oil line like you did. Thanks, keep up the great work Chris
they come in the kit but auto parts carry small brass fittings.. I got the 1/8" brass from home depot
Nice !!
you could run a resistor to the gauge lights to dim them.
I also noticed that you did not use teflon tape or sealant on the fittings. RTV silicone (Red high temp) is best.
Do the water plugs always look like that or can it be with a bolt head I have a 1981 ford f150 ranger and I unscrewed a bolt with a bolt head and idk if what I did is correct
At 1:17 in your video; you can see an electric temp sensor in the side of the engine head. This is where the manual temp sensor should go. It will give you a better idea of how hot the engine is actually.
I see that what's up with that cause I'm trying to put my gauges in now and I'm working on a 64 olds 98... Looking for some help 🤣 joe
Wrong...anywhere in the cooling system...these dont measure engine temp...they measure cooling temp...if u want engine temp it is called a pyrometer...
Use a copper line for oil pressure.
Hey man!
Great video! Could you please tell me how long the cables are for the gauges? It would help a lot.
like 6 feet I think
Nice and useful video - I also have installed a mechanical pressure gauge and air bubbles in the pressure line - now I see a significantly higher pressure compared with my original electrical gauge - because of the air in the line ? Thanks !
purge the air bubbles out.. they don’t affect the gauge and if they did the pressure would be lower because air compresses
great video. i like it. but there is something that you could also do to make it look more professional is using wire looms and electric tape.
Posi-tap and Posi-lock connectors are what you need my friend. They are a bit pricey but worth every penny.
Thanks why my engine still out im take ur advice
Hey, how is the nylon tube holding up for the oil oressure guage ?
as long as those lines don’t get too close to exhaust they last forever. they are poly lines and idiots bash them because they don’t know anything.. but run a copper line if you have one or can afford it
Sir. I'm struggling to find where a Wire that comes from my Engine Harness Terminates. It is much different that all the other Wires. It has a White Cloth Cover. Do you have any thoughts ? Ted 1972 Buick GS.
that is a resisted down 6 volt wire that goes to the positive side of the coil.. from the ignition ON position.. that is your main ignition wire.. if you are running the old style coil.. then you are good.. if you are running HEI or electronic ignition you MUST remove that wire and replace it with a 12gauge stranded wire (factory style)
Sir. Thank you for the prompt reply. That is why the Test Light is very dim. Ted.
I ended up going with the copper oil line instead of the plastic.
What is the hole there to the left of the large hole during 2:26 I am doing the same thing but I don't really want to do a t fitting and I thought both of those holes are under oil pressure...
I’ll check it out when I get home.. do you have a big block chevy?
Chris Craft yeah it's a big block. I bet I'm gonna have to use the reducer fitting like you showed in the video. I have it put together in there it's just kinda funny looking. And some pictures on Google show that hole to the left being an oil hole. But if you run your car without a plug then it's obviously not part of the oil delivery system
HI CHRIS I HAVE A 70 CHEVELLE 396 I HAVE A ONE WIRE ALT HOW TO HOOK UP AMP METER GAUGE AND WIRE IT UP THANKS
I have an ammeter hook up video and a 1 wire alternator video
You mentioned using an Amp meter when you have an external regulator. Can you use the Volt meter with an external regulator? What would happen if you did?
nothing happens.. you can use it
Hey bro, I need help. How do I wire an AMMETER on a GM small block G body?
I have a video on it.. look at my channel..,
Did you need to drain the coolant before removing the water temp port?
no
@@chriscraft77022 thank you! What about the oil when removing the plug by the oil filter for the oil pressure. I really appreciate it. Awsome video!
Just an FYI everyone...DO NOT USE THAT plastic tubing get some 1/8" copper tubing....As you can over tighten the nut an cut it and over time it will become brittle..Think a minute how much of a mess that would be in side. High pressure and "HOT" oil
Were u find the plumbing for oil pressure
Home Depot .they have brass stuff there
Thanks im doing my 396 big block chevy last time when i primed it i did'nt get oil reading i think i did wrong from back of block that sbc at back but thanks ur video still helpful
I would not recommend using the supplied plastic line, in most auto parts chain stores like autozone and advanced they have a separate kit for the oil pressure that has copper line and fittings. Just make sure you put the line in as far as it will go before tightening it. the copper will out last the vehicle, where the plastic line will fail within 2 years.
Where did u get that kit at
oreilly
Can gauges work on 240sx?
yes
it is still working till today ? what brand it is ?
yes they last a long time.. equis brand
@@chriscraft77022 where can i get it ? im from malaysia..can i get it thru online store ?
amzn.to/2SKi8jL
@@chriscraft77022 thanks
How can i fix my speedometer for my 1971 buick skylark ?
what have you done so far to fix it?
@@chriscraft77022I wanted to ask before i tried anything . What do you recommend?
pull the cable out of the back of the speedometer and see if it turns when the car is moving .. try to grab the square tube a little and see if it’s not broken... ( make sure it’s connected)
@@chriscraft77022 the car is currently on jack stands because i am restoring it myself. Is there any other way to do it without moving the car ?
The person i bought it from told me it needed to be replaced
Wow on the gauge you just use two rinses wrenches to tighten it that's why the threaded nipple part out of the back of the cage at the bottom of it has a spot to put a wrench or you can just hold on to it with your hand and break your gauge if you don't know what you're doing and turn it too tight because you are showing people how to install something correctly and not doing it correctly
that’s not a back up nut... if you back that up you can ruin the gauge... are you 13?
there's none for the oil behind the distributor?
Manu G big block chevy no
crazy. didn't know. This is why i watch your videos even if it's on something im not working on. So when the time comes I will know. Happy New Year Chris!
How much for the stereo?
which one? Was I selling a radio? I don’t remember
You are not offering it but I thought you maybe want to sell it, the pioneer on this car 70 chevelle
it’s just a regular radio that you can buy for like $50... you can get a way better one for like $70 new the one in my car is from like 2002.. unless you are looking for that exact one of course I would sell it.. how much you want to give for it
Im looking for that exact one, where are you at, do you still hace it, is there another way to talk about this?
@@gustavobeltran2911 im in houston, TX.. i can sell it .. how much will you give for it? i can ship.. ive been selling online for years..i have a radio install video where you can se it work.. installing a modern radio vdeo.. its all about how much youll give for it .. because that determines if it is worth the trouble..
Get the 1/8" copper Oil pressure line on amazon. Plastic line is not durable
yes it is … they use poly lines on 18 wheeler brakes… methanol delivery systems on turbo charged cars… etc…
Was enjoying the video till i seen wire nuts.
WARNING....if you have a later model car or truck you may well NOT have access ports for oil and or water! Find out before buying gauges. These videos are always demonstrating install on OLD cars and trucks for a reason. My 2013 Silverado has NO access ports for after market gauges and I have since learned that the newer the car the less likely you will find access ports.
