I've been using this truck a nice bit since the update, certainly way better now. I'm still convinced the dead axle at least has partial clipping action on the go when it's lifted, maybe the steel rim can still get caught while the rubber tire can sometimes just clip out of the way. Either way they've reduced quite a lot how annoying that middle axle was. Personally I think your right, this truck works well with a Offroad gearbox. It doesn't quite have the brute power at the top end to hold high gear very well. This truck is quite content to just stick into Low+ and use it's it's low end torque to chug along. With the updates this Derry kinda falls in line with the F-750 for me now, it's one of those trucks now that while slow, just feeels nice. One of those trucks that just feels real, so to say. It's a truck that feels like it actually has weight to it, it doesn't feel like it has cartoony arcade truck physics like say the Tayga that tends to slip and slide all over the road at high speed. This Derry and the F-750, they feel like proper simulation trucks, which is the type of vehicles this game really should have being it's a offroad simulation game. Maybe they should go back and add more weight to a lot of the highway, heavy duty, and offroad class of trucks? I wonder if the reason that these trucks always get so sliding and annoying at high speed is simply because they are just to light and should be heavier? But yea I've been having fun with the Derry since the updates, been using it as my Saddle Low truck.
Justin Lynch yeah it’s much better with the lifted axle, it was so annoying before! And yeah an off-road box on this would make sense, as and when I use the truck for missions I may do that myself as it takes a while to build up the speed and doesn’t matter really when off roading Yeah I know what you mean, it does feel pretty realistic now, I’m not sure why some of the trucks slide around on the roads like they do but I reckon adding weight would probably help, some trucks in the game do behave like they’re a lot lighter than they would be in real life 👍🏻
@@itsmrlonewolf Huh, that's interesting. So apparently the GMC MH9500 and Voron Grad can still have the big tires even with lowered suspension. I'm gonna try running lower suspension on my trucks for a bit. I'm making a exception for the White Western and Fleetstar as they both sit to low with stock suspension. So far I think the Twin-Steer has a pretty noticeable difference. Having her lowered and with dual 55's on the rear, and she actually feels a lot more stable. I think the Twin-Steer might actually be one truck that's hurt from lifted suspension and 63' rear singles. I never liked how the 63's looked like they had a narrow stance, when looking closely they even look like they sit more inward then the front tires. The dual 55's seem to give her a wider stance. And the Twin-Steer is suck a big truck regardless I kind question if it even needs a lift. The lift might actually jack her up to high, adding to her being unstable. The 55's does give the Twin-Steer a narrower front stance, but from what I can tell it seems like it doesn't matter. For some reason this truck acts like all her stability is in the back. Give her dual rears she feels more resistant to rolling, give her single rears and she feels more prone to rolls. Strange as you would think all this trucks weight should be in the front. Yet she acts like the weight is all in the back. That's what I'm finding anyway.
The ford f truck steering is really nice. Combined with a well articulating front end and a stiff rear, it’s a delight, just so different too. Definitely my fave right now.
@@justinlynch3 my thoughts are similar on lifts, you always seem to lose stability. I prefer to be lower and take more hits. The gmc 9500 is very stable on low suspension with 47 tyres...
Glad to see you do full reviews on trucks that get major updates done to them and give them a second chance.👍As underpowered as the 4520 is, I still like it better than the 3194 even after the upgrades to it, though I won't deny it's a much more capable truck now.
Yeah it deserved another look as that axle was my main problem with it before! I wish that Derry 4520 had more power, it’s not too bad on it’s own but when towing stuff it struggles I find! Hopefully they do give it a bigger engine or something? This Derry is definitely better now 👍🏻
Thing Boy yeah it seems to have been given a lot of limiters like it burns fuel quick too! There is a potentially nice truck in there but it’s been hit with a lot of bad qualities too
It’s Mr Lone Wolf I think I might be cheap tho. And it’s good in mud for what it is. If it had it high range I would be all over it but sad offroad thing exists. I wish it had the option for another “special transmission” that had 10 gears but dosnt have a low. That would be the best transmission for messing around and would be really cool to unlock at level 30
That box on the back should be given repair points to make use of it, then there would be reason for it and then maybe have the option to remove it and add a crane instead plus saddle
@@jjwillbombson2223 Since the wheels are lifted now that they just free spin in the air in they brush against anything until the momentum leaves them, like a real life wheel would.
Yeah that’s just where it’s been catching the terrain and spinning but it’ll eventually stop! It’s just a free moving axle that i assume has no brakes either lol 👍🏻
I haven’t sold mine for the same reason as you. I really wanted to like this truck, wrestled it on several missions but both it and the other Derry are just disappointing. This truck makes some glorious noises though, seems like the air brake squeaking, shift pneumatics and such are a little louder on this truck than others.
Yeah I’m glad I hung on to it, I won’t be using it loads but it’s still a better truck with that axle mostly out the way, it’s pretty fun to use 👍🏻! It does make some good noises I have to say!
The other Derry is awesome. The steerable rear wheels make it turn sharper than anything else in the game. Makes moving long trailers much easier since you can start your turn later which means your trailer wheels don't cut the corner as much.
Possibly, I’ve not really been paying attention that close lol but I’ll have to keep an eye out if any feel different! They could do with a little boost so it would be good 👍🏻
Also, regarding the dead axle. It's more about weight distribution on roadways to reduce damage to the pavement and bridges. Same reason some heavy low boy trailers have a whole ridiculous dolly system hanging off the back of them.
Thanks man I’m glad you enjoyed the vid 👍🏻! Oh did it, that’s good to know, I’ll have to try it out on a mission as I’ve not really used it much so far

Hey, I just wanted to see this review, cause I kid you not, I few days ago wanted to revisit this truck for the new michigan contracts! I´m skipping your Imandra videos so far (sorry!) in order to avoid spoilers, but I´m here I am! hehe. I got the bulk of my fleet (azovs, the tayga king, voron grand, nosey kolob, 750, loadstar & Yar) in route to imandra now, so I went to michigan with the WWS, the Acteon and finally bought Bruce as reinforcement. Thing is, Bruce seems to be a multipurpose for me, so I though to buy another for assisting the WWS with the semi trailers, and the Derrys seem to be cut for it (if reworked by the devs). Lets see...
PS: I let the cat 680 go in Russia due to its, "german sheppard " back suspension issue, if that is fixed in the future, the Derrys will not have a chance to be on my fleet. And the WWS would take some hollidays. PPS: Semitrailer trucks in mi opinion depend more on the place the saddle low is located, than the actual turning radius. The closest is to the end of the chasis, the less chances to touch the semi when turning or when climbing up & down. Thats why I used the WWS and Cat680 the most withe semi, they have perferct placement for low saddle
Lol it’s all good dude I get it, I don’t watch any vids before I get the map too 👍🏻! Yeah this truck is worth giving another go now as it helps a lot with the axle out the way! Lol yeah that truck sucks the way it is! It can barely handle off roading and is slow too most of the time! It needs that twinsteer engine in it or something 👍🏻
Lol it was more ground pressure I was thinking of, but yeah as it spreads the weight well across the rear wheels, it doesn’t sink into the ground that bad, at the back at least 👍🏻
This and the other Derry were two trucks that I really, really wanted to be good. The 3194 was such a letdown in any sort of practical application previous to this patch, but damn did it look so rad. Sorry but, the real question you should be asking is... when should you use the dead axle? ( cricket sounds ). Now I understand why it’s there in real life. Maybe it would help on the breakable ice!?
Lol personally I’ll just permanently leave it up and out the way! I’m not sure it would help on the ice too much as the fronts seem to break through very quickly, but also trying to climb back out, I reckon that axle would hit the edge and just stop you from being able to drive up and out
Personally I like the shallow steering for the superlong trailers/trailer trains. Almost like a passive limiter so you don't undercut a corner and get the trailers(s) stuck. And as for use of the middling axel, I find it helps keep heavy loads tall rather than dropping your suspension down, and really does do a good number on keeping you rolling in the direction you want to go on less than ideal but not completely wrecked roads.
I loved the way this truck looked, but that dead axel always made so much off a problem on the littlest bumps. And it whas annoying as fuck, now i cant wait to use it again!

And it whas annoying as fuck, now i cant wait to use it again!
i fell in love with this truck the time i saw it, but i disappointed with its bad performance.
Yeah I wanted to like it but that axle was a pain, it’s definitely better now it’s raised out the way 👍🏻
I heard a rumor that Oshkosh refused to let Saber license their trucks and in retaliation they made the two Derry Longhorn trucks crap intentionally
You should get a wheel... steering the horn is so much better..I think you're gonna love it
I think you meant ground pressure? That is the expression used for tanks.
Bout time they changed the dead axle
Yeah it needed it 👍🏻
The lift and difflock makes it useable again
I dragged it up that crazy hill with the tuz 420
Nice lol the tuz 420 is perfect for that kind of thing 👍🏻
Weight distribution, probably came back to you a year ago
That's an interesting way to make this turd more 'useful'
Lol it’s a start! It’s not a bad truck in some ways with that axle out the way
it says it has always-on AWD, but it really doesn't have an AWD in common sense, because not all wheels are powered.
I tried this truck again and I hate the slow steering. No reason to choose it over the Tayga or Voron's.
Ground pressure mate, ground pressure...
That’s the one I was looking for lol thanks man 👍🏻
Contact patch?
Ground pressure was what I was thinking but it’s all kinda the same thing lol 👍🏻
