I disagree. The game needs to have a way to permenantly remove rocks and debris from the roads on the maps we already have. We complete the tasks to build the bridges, we fix powerlines, we clear out rockslides, and yet sometimes those wood barriers remain in the way and there's STILL large rocks littering the roadway. The only way this is fixed as of right now, are mods that painstakingly have gone through the maps to remove every single pebble and twig from the paved roadways.

I found good use for the scout 800 in my hard mode playthrough. It powers through most Michigan terrain a lot faster than the Chevy. Just don’t buy the roof rack and don’t use it for those mountain trail tasks (king of the hill, a place beyond the spruces, etc). Also, sticking a fuel trailer on it makes it more stable by literally anchoring to the ground, without losing too much pace.

Same for me. In hard mode, any truck that you can get for free has a different value to those that you have to unlock because the dollars are a limited resource. I would still say that the chevy is a top tier scout in the game, but a scout 800 with 35" tires and auto winch is a good sidekick for your fleet that can get you to many places. Its tire options are one of the few examples where you can but not necessarily should give it the biggest upgrades available.

It's a shame the Scout 800 is underwhelming because I really like how it looks. However, I've found that it's much better being a utility vehicle rather than an actual scouting truck. For maps where you need the radar trailer, I just take a Paystar 5600TS with a van body and semi trailer, place a scout 800 and a radar trailer in the semi trailer and place a scout fuel trailer on the roof of the van body addon. 800 repair points and 6 wheels from the van body, 300 repair points and 5 wheels from the Scout and a combined 1112L of fuel from the Scout and the small fuel trailer. Perfect for revealing an entire map in 1 trip.
(Also the scout is small enough to be packed sideways on a flatbed, which is very useful since you can deploy it in places where your truck may not be able to fit like a watchtower path or hidden upgrade route.)

Best scout for me right now is the Tuz 16 Actaeon. Technically an offroad truck but it can take a roof rack with repair supplies, a small fuel tank and has an autonomous winch which keeps it in the field forever. Then it has the added bonus of being an actual truck (with S+ weight ratio) so it can grab trailers and do recovery missions out and about. I love that thing.

Even though the Apache being FWD is technically a bug it is my favorite vehicle in game. On ice the tendency for it to understeer is appreciated compared to the snap oversteer of most RWD and many 4WD trucks in game. You definitely have to put the 5.2 in it for it to work well as well as give it the roof rack and the bed supplies. It definitely needs to be able to tow trailers though.
Honestly I wouldn't care for the Apache if they fixed the bug and got rid of the FWD/6WD drivetrain setup.
I miss the A-969s from Mudrunner. I hope they'll add them as DLC to Snowrunner soon. Little FWD/4WD Mountain Goats.

Apache is really good for climbing mountains. It's stable and has tons of traction even when going over rock littered sides of mountains. And it still stays stable even with a roof rack. Also it can carry around a lot of fuel and repair points AND it has full 360 degree array of lights. Very very few vehicles in the game have lights even to their sides not to mention to the rear. This makes the apache the ultimate night time scout and using it for rescue missions for stuck or even rolled over vehicles. I have even used it to pull Tayga B back on its wheels on the side of a mountain.

Yeah, it's in a DLC, but that means it's available to use out of the gate in Michigan and Alaska, if you want to play the maps "in order". Without it and the Bandit, I doubt I would have kept playing the game much at all with just the base starter vehicles in those maps. Scout 800 id a great trail runner and early game supply vehicle. Just don't put the lift kit on it and don't drive blithely into everything and it is superb. It has a stiff suspension that keeps it very level and extremely capable to climb, but causes it to bounce a lot and tip if you don't pay attention. Not every truck has to be able to do everything well. I use it extensively without issue and rarely tipping over with the roof rack on.
The Apache is EXTREMELY stable on slopes and very resistant to tipping even with full supplies. It has a good flex and can easily and smoothly cruise over most terrain without difficulty. It has a substantial amount of supplies making it a good supply truck, though the lack of trailers is frustrating. Winching a fuel trailer is common with it, though hardly ideal.

--Apache: The lack of trailers is inexcusable, in my opinion. It's okay for actual scouting, but once the map is revealed, it's pretty much useless. Unless you want a bit of extra fuel for a caravan run or something.

Scout 800 is definitely a good beginner vehicle, but its relative usefulness beyond that is limited once you begin to acquire other, more capable trucks. Using the 800 teaches you all about stability and traction on different terrain, and how loading and accessories affect those characteristics, all for a low, low price. Having an autonomous winch allows you to push the boundaries during exploration, but don't count on it to do much as a recovery vehicle.

I actually disagree on the lift-axle trucks. Yes, they can high-center but the advantage they do get is with heavy bed loads, like steel beams or when fitted with a large crane. Sometimes other trucks of the same size can bottom out really bad when they start taking terrain, but the lift-axle helps keep them from digging their bellies into muck. Admittedly they're situational, yes, but I still love keeping my cranes on the CT681 for that reason. Lifted suspensions can help some, but don't always fix that issue and can sometimes lead to belly-slaps; where the extra weight pushing down from on top causes the vehicle to keep slapping itself to death as the suspension gives. Just a personal opinion though.

yeah, there are some very dagerous mountain passes in India which would look great in snowrunner also the trucks here are customised very differenlty from rest of the world. sadly India is not very big market for PC/console gaming...I mean mobile gaming is pretty big but PC/console gaming is still kinda niche...Also we have to pay extra for both consoles and PC parts due to high taxes (PS5 is around USD700 as MSRP). Great video! I mostly agree on this list. I don´t like mods but the mod that makes the CAT 770G useful with a trailer hitch and a saddle high is something that should be in the game. So strange to add a truck that is only really useful on a single map. I use the CAT 770G as a sort of ferry over deep muddy places to keep a road open for trucks that could otherwise not pass over that specific area.
The telehandler should also be equipped with a log crane to make it useful in the game. I only use it for diversion when loading cargo, but the crane is always faster.
One note on the Apache, as useless as it is, it is still one of only two vehicles in the game that can go over ice without going in (the other is the Don 71). Just make sure you have the mud tires.
I don´t find the dead axle trucks to be much of a problem really. If you have to pass a crest just raise the axle and go over the crest at a 45 degree angle and you will be fine. The Western Star 49X is one of my favourite trucks.
For those who wonder what the dead axle is good for here is some points:
1: The dead axle will spread the weight of the truck so that it will not go through mud or ice as deep as other trucks.
2: The dead axle will give the truck a higher stance so that trailers will clear obstacles better.
3: The dead axle will minimize the suspension damage you get when going fast over hard terrain or paved roads.
4: The dead axle will make the truck more directionally stable when going fast over hard terrain or paved roads.

You should try mods...there're some mods which are as refined as in-game trucks and they've their own addons making your gameplay experience to another level....Also I think most of the light weight scouts can make it on broken ice, you just have to keep them moving otherwise they'll break it and sunk into it....the dead axle trucks are in like honorable/dishonorable mention for a reason, I like them as unique vehicle type in a game but I also think that they've more downsides then upsides but still I don't want them to lose their axle completely as that would make them similar to ordinary trucks.

Don't get most powerful engine on scouts. That's a trap. Designed as a lesson you have missed. The lesson is "Most power isn't always best".
It goes like this - Chevy 1500 has 4 engines, of which you get 4th after 1st, and only later 2nd and 3rd. The jump is there so you notice the difference - how your wheels spin and you just dig in with that crazy OP custom engine while also watching your fuel vanish real time. So eventually you may go for the second engine. More so with attachments.

The part with the Scout 800 I highly disagree on, its not without its faults sure, but its my most used scout, and my go to for scouting the maps.
First of, you dont need a larger engine on it, the car is small and light enough that the standard engine will get you everywhere already (if you wanna pull trailers s stronger engine would be nice, but i have other cars for pulling), with the standard engine the fuel economy is some of the best.
It IS top heavy, but by taking care not to drive sideways on hills (without anchoring side with winch), not going too fast in uneven terrain and such it will work wonders! Roof rack does make it more unstable, so if flipping is a problem, run without it, I do fine with the roof rack and with that extra fuel i scout a whole map on one run without refilling usually.
Auto winch is a must, cus even when careful you will flip sooner or later, wanna be able to fix that when it happens.
Even though its small size makes for unstability, it also means it can get through/inbetween places many others wont.

Scout 800 - use an even more economical engine (this is one example where the most powerful engine is not the best). You have to be careful during climbing but this is a better scout than the CK1500. It takes a lot of fuel and burns little with the right engine. Alltime difflock works well with a standard gearbox.
4070A - yea in mud is terrible but is quite good on good road. It is good at transporting fuel in Michigan (fast and economical) - it comes handy in hard mode.
In my opinion, you forgot about: Kodiak C70 (2 free in game is unsavory joke) and TUZ 108. They are terrible in every way. TUZ 16 "Actaeon" is also terrible but have anonymous winch.

    • @SD1ONE
      @SD1ONE  2 роки тому +1

kodiak is not enough bad to put in this list IMO, it can climb big rocks, etc stuff due to high ground clearance specially at front. It flips a lot but it's still can be useful to some. TUZ 108 is very powerful for it's size it's P2W is among one of the best in entire game but I always prefer TUZ 16 over it because of auto winch.

    • @Don_Mag
      @Don_Mag 2 роки тому

@@SD1ONE You inspired me to retest TUZ's. They are a bit more stable than I remember, maybe there has been some modification of these vehicles in one of Snowrunner updates? Front axel bounces in 108 and it's hard to steer with a lot of cargo (semi traier or trailer). It's hard to take advantage of this P2W. But ok is very fast with fuel tank and fuel trailer on my test track. TUZ 16can handle long logs quite efficiently, has very little fuel supply, but can mount a larger tanker than TUZ 108. It is a bit nicer to steer. I still can't figure where they will be better than others. Maybe some time trial, but I'm not convinced.
Kodiak C70 - I test also but it is terrible. Only for very light work and it's still hard to imagine a good application.
