thank you. .your tutorials are excellent.please let me know what hardware is needed to output /monitor from fairlight to surround speakers. if you can do a video it will be very helpful to lot of people like me.
Really Great! Thank you, Jason This video helps me to 5.1 surround audio. Now you tube supports 5.1 surround on TV app. Could you share some videos to convert 2.0 channel to 5.1 using Davinci resolve?
Excellent I have created 5.1 surround sound for some videos I created, mainly using Sony VEGAS and AC3 (ouch!) . Now I see how easy it is to use DaVince and Fairligh without some obsolete codecs. Thanks I do enjoy the audio part of videos most people don't care about. Claudio from Brazil.
Thanks! The surround sound is pretty good in fairlight. I’m assuming you probably saw the other surroundsound video I’ve got but here it is in case you haven’t ua-cam.com/video/zZ30eAFgjMQ/v-deo.html I also have lots of other audio tutorials in da Vinci resolve if you’re interested. 👍😁 ua-cam.com/play/PLsOqsM0-aW4FqsOPNk6z6TOn3BeRHpLe_.html Thanks for watching!
UA-cam does support 5.1 (if the hardware supports it). Also there is something called LtRt (Left total, Right Total) which is a stereo mixdown of the 6ch audio. If you are already creating a 5.1 mix, then there should be a way to mixdown the 5.1 output to a stereo mix (easy in Premiere Pro - but still investigating the method for Davinci). I just finished a short film and need to make a DCP (hopefully with 5.1 surround).
Yes, you can do that using the pan in the mixer in Fairlight. If you don't have a surround setup, you'll only hear it in stereo. You can also use the space view scope in the Fairlight menu when you are in Fairlight. You can also use 3rd party plugins to do it.
@@JasonYadlovski Sorry, I forgot that I want to key the sound like with the volume, so I want it to be at the front left at key frame 1, then at the back right at the second and so on. Unfortunately I only have the free version without atmos, but I would still like to create a 7.1 sound. That's why my question was whether you can keyframe the position of the panning.
Hello Jason, I am finishing my first feature and I want to know the configuration of the 7.1 film for my audio tracks for the theatres. In my timeline, I have these tracks: one track for dialogue, one track for sfx , one track for the music, and one track for background noise. As far as I know, the dialogue track should be in mono, the music track, and sfx in stereo (or surround). Am I correct? Please give me a hand on because time is running out. Subscribed to your channel. Thank you
Hey Taulant - congrats on your film! That’s awesome. Here’s another video that shows you the basic set up, hopefully this will help. ua-cam.com/video/zZ30eAFgjMQ/v-deo.html
Thanks for all your helpful videos. My sound mixer did everything in 5.1 and when I bring it into Davinci and drag it onto the timeline it turns to stereo and I can't hear it. I went through doing all that you say here and still can't get it. I hear it when it plays in the media pool but not on the timeline. Thanks for any tips.
Great video. I have 12 tracks and certain tracks are just the stems of the entire music. How do I accommodate 12 tracks into 5.1 track (L, R, LFE, LS, RS)? Any advice is much appreciated
I have a video file and it's in 5.1. The Surround channels are too weak and the overall volume is too weak. In which module would I do all this, in or in ? Also, which tutorial would cover this if any?
Also, if I unlink, make a volume change, link again, then decide to make another change and unlink, the level bars are even again instead of the changes I made before. Have they been forgotten because I unlinked again?
Hi, congratulations but the video is too difficult for me. I'll explain my problem to you, I have a feature film with 5 audio tracks (dialogues, music, effects) until now the client asked me for the film in stereo audio, now he's also asking me in 5.1, which is the best way? simple to export the film in both stereo and 5.1?
Hi! You'd need to create a 5.1 bus and you can send your tracks there. When you export, you can have one bus that will export stereo and one that will export in 5.1.
2 things 1.) When setting PREFERENCES don't those Preferences stay with a PROJECT? 2.)Why when changeing Video and Audio I/O --- Speaker Setup and then attempting to save settings it says: "Your Preferances have been Updated." "These changes will take affect next time Resolve is started." But when I close Resolve and reopen it with a different PROJECT the Preferances are still 5.1 Surround.
Hi! Anything you change in preferences will remain for all projects. Changes in preferences are global for all projects. Anything you change in the project settings, the little gear icon at the bottom right of the screen, will only change in that specific project.
@@JasonYadlovski I use my laptop to editand 2 big screen HDTV's as Monitors. Before I set up the 'Video and Audio I/O --- Speaker Setup' in preferances I had 3 choices of where the audio can come from no mater what I was playing on any screen. but they all came from 1 of 3 speaker choices in the uper right conor of th laptop screen under the speakr Icon. bt every thing came out of that choice after changing Preferances to 5.1 I now get audio from differant sources to play on seperate speakers on the second TV and not the 5.1 SS system connected to the first TV (Monitor). Don't know why but I like it that way.
When Im trying to create a DCP file with 5.1 for the movie theater I always get an error that says I selected an invalid number of audio tracks for a DCP clip
Hi! I don't really know much about DCP files, but if you take a look in the DaVinci Resolve manual starting on page 3203, you should be able to find some helpful info. Sorry I can't help more. Best of luck on your project!
At time 2:30 where you say "I'm assuming it would appear here" Well it does but when I goto: Manual / Main / Vizio (NV...tion audio) / 5.1 Then under outputs it only allows me to st 2 outputs not all 6. even when I set outputs to the left and Right surround out puts it still comes out the front and center speakers/ Even the 5.1 surround sound you made for down load doesn't work why idea why. Wish I could attach a screen shot to these comments.
