  • Just got back from a car meet and I had my cousin's vans waiting for me at home. The brakes on her 2016 Honda Odyssey skaes when she steps on the pedal. Ended up replacing her front brake pads and rotors.

Thanks Bro. Absolutely. Thanks for covering me today as well… I technically could have worked, but I’m glad I got the rest to go to the big Honda meet.

Nice work. I use a small carpenter clamp to hold the pads together when dropping the caliper. Your way looks pretty good! Looks like you used Honda pads. Did you use Honda rotors? I used a high carbon rotor from Rock Auto. The Honda pads have springs but not the stainless caliper hardware. I use just a little grease on the pad ears and under the clips.

Thank you! And thank you for stopping by the channel and checking out the video. The pads are OEM from the dealer and the rotors as well. Sometimes I go aftermarket on the rotors, but this one the price difference wasn’t far off because of my discount, so might as well went and go with OEM. Thank you for your feedback. Totally appreciate that! Feel free to roam around the channel. We have plenty other videos not just car repairs but fun stuff like going to race events and car meets. And interviewing fellow car enthusiast. Have a great one!

Just for your information: I just did my 2012 Honda Odyssey EX-L 's front brake pads and rotors. After doing so, my engine light came on and right to the left of it another light came on (brakes? thought it was traction control but that light is left of this light). I did a search and other people had that problem and some say it is coincidental etc. But it's not as it happened to me. Further research in forums etc... one forum member said that could be caused by the brake fluid in the tube may have a air bubble, etc. That makes sense as there's a possibility that the brake fluid hose gets handled too much while maneuvering the brake calipers. Nonetheless the poster stated that the lights will turn off after some number of engine/start/stop cycles. It happened .. first the "brake" light went off ... then shortly after the engine light turned off; didn't have to reset by disconnecting battery. Just in case people do a search on this matter that they will find something that happened/related/worked. Tags: ELO Engine Light On traction light on brake light on brake pad and rotor change. I hope this helps in "our community" of sharing information.

Where do you put the jack under to lift the Honda from the center? Can you show us the photo? I normally lift he car from the jack points on the frame from the side and then I can't put the jacks under the jack point. I just did my pads and rotors yesterday.

Awesome! Jack placement I usually put right in the middle of the front part of the subframe directly underneath the front motor mount. You should be able to Google search it as well to get a visual and images of the sub frame. I’m not sure what you’re familiarity is with the subframe. The subframes job is to help cradle the engine and drivetrain. With that said, it’s pretty solid.

Ernie, I'm kinda desperate for some help with a 2014 CR-V. The key fob doesn't work anymore. Sounds like hey simpleton really? But I changed the battery, i DID make the mistake of installing it upside down at first, it was in the dark. I opened it back up and flipped it, and that little red light HAS blinked a couple times but it doesn't talk to the car at all anymore. I went through the "insert key, turn to on, press LOCK, turn to off, repeat 3 times, THEN one more time" AND nada. No reaction. I've changed the pace, waited a full second at each step, etc, just not getting anywhere. Did I possibly fry the fob with the reversed polarity? Is there some step I'm missing? Please.

Hey, sorry to hear about your remote issue. It’s has been awhile since I had to program one. I forgot the cut off year of which remotes can be programmed the old traditional way. On the later models at the dealer when programming a key it automatically programs the remote as well. But usually changing the battery won’t cause the remote to have to be programmed again. So the answer to your question yes, it may be a possibility that the remote may have been damaged. Also double check the positioning and good contact of the battery inside the remote as well.
