    Just changed my rear brakes and rotors on my 07 Odyssey. Excellent video, especially the good ole pipe as a breaker bar.

    Hello, Riggs garage!!! I’m 52 years old and have always wanted to learn mechanical work😂 I love cars. Love the videos very informative!! Get job!! Anyways, what is the best kind of front brakes pad for front??? 2014 Honda Odyssey

      Hello thanks for watching! I like ceramic pads like powerstop that you can get on RockAuto, also Wagner and other ceramic brake pads are really good on the front of the Odyssey. Ceramic pads have less dust than the organic pads which is nice

    Great Video Thanks i just did my wife's 2008 Odyssey (rear) a shop did them last. The passenger side was completely down to 1% and the drivers side had 75%. does this mean that the shop ripped her off and only did one side or could the caliper be sticking. If so how do you tell. oh and what do you lube the rubber on the caliper with?

    • @RiggsGarage
      @RiggsGarage  3 роки тому +1

      Without looking at it, it sounds like the caliper or the caliper pins could be sticking. On both the caliper and check the travel of the pins that it slides on. If those are good, try compressing the caliper and seeing if it's easier or difficult, that will tell you if it's stuck. You do not need to lubricate the rubber around the Piston itself, you do need to lubricate the slides that the caliper slides back and forth on

    How do you know if you need to adjust the inside shoes when you put on new rotor?

    • @RiggsGarage
      @RiggsGarage  4 місяці тому

      If they are dragging on the rotor at all that's a good place to start adjustments

    How about the squeaker clip on the inside pad?

    Question, the back brakes doesn’t require bleeding?

    • @RiggsGarage
      @RiggsGarage  Рік тому

      It only requires bleeding if you open the system, like if you replace the caliper or brake hoses etc

    09:02 - everyone says at the beginning of the video this screw isn't required, but then re-install it back again. The rotor isn't going anywhere if this screw is missing.

    • @RiggsGarage

      I believe it was intended to hold the rotor on on the Honda assembly line. Definitely non essential as the wheel holds it on like you said. Thank you for watching!

    Just had a Odyssey rear brake job done but they messed up the parking brake (foot pedal could go to floor) took it back and now the pedal seems better but still will not hold the car well on hills that the old brakes would hold. It works but the car slowly rolls backwards on a hill. I could put super tension on the foot pedal but don't want to break the cable.
    Is this something cause from the new pads or what? Is this normal for honda odysseys?

    • @RiggsGarage
      @RiggsGarage  4 місяці тому

      You should be able to adjust the tension of the parking brake, see if you can find a video or a manual for that

    • @Physics072
      @Physics072 4 місяці тому

      @@RiggsGarage I took it back and its a little batter but still will slowly roll on a medium steep driveway. The foot pedal does not bottom out but you have to press very hard.

    Definitely have an impact driver handy for that stupid rotor screw.

    Don’t forget to swap the rubber grommet from one rotor to the next rotor that covers the e-brake adjuster. Great video otherwise. Thank you.
