Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the best areas to see the fall colors in Colorado. This travel guide will help you plan a great fall trip to the best spots in Rocky Mountain National Park to see the Fall Colors and enjoy a fall hike. September and October bring out the gorgeous golden colors in the aspen trees! It's a beautiful time to visit and to see the elk rut take place, watch moose and even spot a black bear. One of the best ways to see fall colors is to drive the Bear Lake Corridor and take a hike to Emerald Lake. Since Rocky Mountain National Park is only an hour and a half drive from Denver International Airport, it is easy to access.

It’s so incredibly different than when we did this hike in April! Where the water is now was nothing but feet upon feet of snow. Never saw that much snow before in my life!! But it was such a fun and beautiful hike!

The colors can vary each year when they area peak. I think you would get some beautiful fall colors at the end of Sept, however it just depends on Mother Nature. 😉
