It's Luigis mansion. Might have already said this but it's the game that got my gf to start playing switch stuff along side or with me. Perfect being intro game for a beginner.
Legends Arceus being the best Pokemon game on the Switch, makes me excited and scared at the same time. I really wish they don't mess up Z-A and just expand on what Arceus was, not only cause the main mechanics were really fun but also because the Kalos region deserves better. And yeah you're absolutely right, loved that you guys included Astral chain in this one, such a good game, I can't stop praising it and I so hope for a sequel coming soon.
Man, you aren’t lying about that final boss in Metroid Dread. It straight bullied me for days and made me rage quit several times. That being said, I did feel like an elite bounty hunter when I beat it! Still can’t bring myself to replay the game though. Metroid Dread indeed.
But that boss actually felt satisfying, because it was a very good, balanced and fair boss fight. I knew, that when i got hit, it was my fault and he can be beaten without yourself taking any damage. Absolutely incredible game design and an absolute blast. I love this game.
Same, really kicked my butt for a few days. Then when I finally won it felt easy and straight-forward. Enjoyed the game front to back, great design and challenge.
The lack of a Santa hat perturbs me 🤣 Astral Chain is a must have. There's nothing quite like it on Switch. I'm quite excited to play it on Switch 2. Hope there's a boost mode of sorts where everything is enhanced.
Astral Chain is such a gem of a game, I'm really sad that it didn't get attention it deserves, and it turn a sequel, that would perfect the gameplay, in a way Bayonetta 2 did compared to original. It's so stylish and beautiful to look at, with amazing soundtrack, and quite unique gameplay, I really hope that it will develop into series.
I'm really scared that a lot of Platinum Games personnel moved to Hideka Kamiya's new developer team in Capcom, I'm afraid that Astral Chain 2 not gonna happen. :(
@@nyuszicsib I think that Astral Chain as a IP is now owned by Nintendo, meaning that they could hire whoever they want to develop a sequel, essentially they could hire Clover to do it, or current Platinum

I believe that Zelda: BOTW or TOTK are essential for any Switch owners because of the sheer volume and scope of the games which leads to countless wonderful gaming hours - and lots of value for money just from these two titles.
Ah yes countless hours of wandering around with inconsequential story beats sprinkled throughout, and repetitive enemy encounters, and weapons constantly breaking in the middle of combat.. sooooo much value 🙄

And just like other RPGs, some "tropes" can't be avoided, yet we still accept them and don't let those negatives damper our overall experience. Cause at the end, no video game is perfect... Not Red Dead Redemption, not Persona 5, not even the Witcher 3.
@israelflores5448 the charm of Zelda was left behind in Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, etc.. and it is nowhere to be found in botw. And no one said that Red Dead Redemption, Persona 5 or Witcher 3 are perfect games.. but there was games that came before which were.. from your list of "perfect" games however, I can tell that there's no sense in trying to argue the point with you

Try not to take things too serious, I wasn't really arguing... Just making a personal opinion. At the end of the day, you play what makes you happy, whether it's flawed or otherwise.
Metroid Dread is the pinnacle of a game you can only play the first time once for me. I’d never played something that felt so good. Had not been a gamer for years, and it was unreal how you felt one with Samus. Just loved everything about that game and thought the music and tone was appropriate for the vibe even if others felt let down by it.
One of the best things about many of Nintendo's first party games is that they're so much fun to play in co-op. I have a lot of good memories myself from when I used to play Mario Kart, Mario Party and Super Mario Bros when I was a kid. Now I got a kid myself and I already got all my favorite games ready for when he's big enough to play 😁
A packed video over 40 mins? You guys are spoiling us 🎉 Captain Toad is so fun. I love the charm of it and the 3D puzzle solving platform. Captain Toad and Kirby's Forgotten Land were two games that really made me want to get a Switch. Happy to see both on the list!
That fact that you can bang out a 20 'essential' 1st party games and I can still think of plenty of overlooked titles just blows the mind. Switch has just such an incredible lineup. Looking forward to the next list.
The Switch library is just so strong, you could probably still tack on a couple more genres like the more casual "Wii" genres to throw in gems like Ring Fit in there. Or puzzle games with Tetris 99 which is kinda not a full first party or a full game, but is one of the games I've played the most on the system and something that I think is absolutely essential to the Switch online experience.

It's weird feeling nostalgic about a console I still play on the regular. But seeing games I first played many moons ago, like Breath of the Wild, on your list made me feel like a Grandad talking about the good old days. Man, the Switch has really had some bangers.

I still remember the original Metroid Prime back before it came out. The idea of them making it like that as a first person view point had me worried but then down the line I read in a magazine (it was probably EGM) on how natural and fluid it felt playing it. I bought it based on that and it just blew my mind. What it achieved was something truly special.
Remember the Warburtons Crumpet Christmas Advert with Kermit.. Merry Crumpets everybody 😂 Got this playing with one earphone on while the Mrs got Xmas film on…. Bliss

As someone whos pretty late to the switch generation (got mine nearly 2 years ago) i agree with so many of these choices. Been having a blast building my backlog alongside everyone here and slowly tackling it day by day! Merry switchmas!
I think I own about half of the games you've shown. I'm currently playing TOTK. For me what makes the game more interesting than BOTW is not the new mechanics, but the introduction of caves, wells, etc.
This list is right up my alley, especially with Kirby, Zelda, Astral Chain, and Xenoblade. I'm glad to see Captain Toad here too, as it is shorter and more approachable than many other games. Its diagram-style levels are bite-sized wonders.
I absolutely loved this video. It's so great to see so many awesome games on here. Also, now that my 8 year old is showing some real interest, it's great seeing her play through some of these games. She conpleted her 1st game yesterday in Princess Peach and started playing Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Needless to say uve never be so proud 😂

For me, an essential game is one that no matter how many times I play it, it never gets old. Mario RPG would have to be my pick.

I think I own about half of the games you've shown. I'm currently playing TOTK. For me what makes the game more interesting than BOTW is not the new mechanics, but the introduction of caves, wells, etc.
This list is right up my alley, especially with Kirby, Zelda, Astral Chain, and Xenoblade.
I'm glad to see Captain Toad here too, as it is shorter and more approachable than many other games. Its diagram-style levels are bite-sized wonders.
We know the holidays are almost upon us when Shitch gives up the 12 days of Switchmass 🎉.

I absolutely loved this video. It's so great to see so many awesome games on here. Also, now that my 8 year old is showing some real interest, it's great seeing her play through some of these games. She conpleted her 1st game yesterday in Princess Peach and started playing Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Needless to say uve never be so proud 😂

Captain Toad is an extremely good game. So glad you haven't forgotten about it as it's one of my Switch all-time highlights that I enjoyed immensely.
