There's something about watching/listening to you guys talk about games that is so enjoyable and yet chill. I watch the weekly videos religiously - but the "best of" lists where you just talk it out are so damn good 👌
I keep hearing the praise and seeing the reviews. It’s one of this games where the art style is completely not what I like… so it’s a lot of money to spend if I’m not drawn towards it and then I don’t actually enjoy it. Hmmm.
@@vidclarke I'm the opposite -- I love the art style, but it takes a lot for me to get into tactical RPGs, so I'm scared that I'd spend all that money and never really play it. It looks like it has some great lore to it too; maybe I should just watch someone else's playthroughs
Seeing you two together just makes me think that we need to have some kind of 'Origin Story' of how you guys met, got into games and started up your channel! SwitchUp: The Beginning Rated R
@@gbautista100I think it sold very well considering the release. I remember reading a sales report saying the sale numbers were good. I played and liked the demo so got it but it’s sitting in my backlog until I finish Metaphore. Would love to get Metaphore again on the switch. Probably will get a “Royal” remake version on the Switch 2 knowing Atlus.
I recently picked up unicorn overlord, and you are right. This game is its own thing, I really love the football manager esque battles where you have some control but not to the extent of a turn based combat.
My favourite RPG this year is most definitely Unicorn Overlord. What a game, it's consumed almost all of my free hours for over two months now and I'm still only about two thirds of the way through it, Epic.
Played through Unicorn Overlord and was happily surprised with how good the game and story was. Looking forward to picking up Dragon Quest 3 at some point.
I looked at my nintendo switch year in review and rpg are my most played genre. Would love to see you guys reacting to your switch year in review in a video ^^
It is so nice to just listen to you guys talk about games. You clearly love them and that enthusiasm comes through in every word. And selfishly I do love listening to my own countrymen as finally I have a place to go where our humour aligns and I get most of the ‘regional’ jokes. Thx for all you do, have a great Christmas, Amanda 🎉
New Switch owner here… fell out of gaming after the GameCube/Dreamcast era. Mighty different time to be a gamer compared to back then but I gotta say that I am thrilled to have found this channel. Maybe it’s because I’m based in the U.S. but something about Mark and Glen’s accents makes their game reviews stand head and shoulders above the rest (😂). Keep up the amazing work, fellas!
Love the idea of saving up random battles. It's such a simple idea but gives you so much agency. RPGs are my favourite genre of games but they are a huge investment of time. Your videos are a huge help in deciding which ones to give my time to. Thanks gents!
Selfishly, I’m a big fan of the remakes/remasters coming to the Switch. I missed the majority of these aside for DQIII, which I loved on the gameboy color, so I’m glad I’m getting the chance to experience them now
Ys series have never really grasped me until the moment you said "Being a pirate in the high seas". Dont have much time for big rpgs but when i do this is the next one. Thanks for another great video!
I was pretty blown away by Paper Mario TTYD. I didn’t think it would compare to Super Mario RPG, and it’s in its own world sort of, but also so full of fun and exploration and humour like RPG was! Loved it
It never ceases to amaze me how many phenomenal RPGs we've gotten on switch, but this year has been even better than I could have hoped. Can't wait to pick up the last couple of these I haven't played over Christmas!!

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake was the loveliest surprise for me. Me and my brother fought over one gameboy growing up and we played for hours (swapping whenever the party gets wiped). It was the best Dragon Quest for me and it’s a great staring point in the series

I can empathise with you Mark on your outside world affecting your game world experience. Mood can really change your perception of a game and ultimately a first impression is unreliable and the ability to be subjective especially when reviewing is difficult. Not many games journalists will acknowledge this and retcon their reviews to ensure the game is appropriately represented. Props to you Mark for doing so for Ys Nordics.🎉
So much beasts of a game in one video. Don't think I'll be picking any of these up any time soon, since I always feel RPGs really take a lot out of you until you're ready to invest.
